A few notes: covering this was a spare of the moment decision and I thought it would be fun to rely on my memory of how it goes. I did get something quite wrong, which is the order of the two chords during the "I can't tell you why..." parts, but it seems to work ok this way too. Also, on the original, Bowie sings the same note over those two chords and it sounds great, but with just an acoustic it was sounding too discordant. So, maybe it's cowardice, but I changed the note.
Also, because I've not practiced it in advance, there's LOTS of re-recording, sorry to say. You'll even see me laugh near the end as I think about how badly I'm playing. I would've just kept redoing it but all of those frikkin barre chords HURT after 8 minutes so I thought... stuff it.
I can’t think of a more difficult song to cover than Blackstar. It’s really a song inside another cryptic song, and you did a beautiful job.
Covering bowie and this song is one of the hardest things which really needs balls to do… i was afraid this could have gone terribly wrong, but you mastered this beautifully. I love the stripped down arrangement of your cover. Which it even makes it more hard to cover mistakes… well done - you are massively talented! Never stop!
