    Have you tried QAYG on a longarm? What is your favorite way to do it?

      I have never made a quilt as you go quilt but I absolutely LOVE your quilt!! You did a fabulous job! Love it. And the colors are so pretty! Great work!❤

    I really like that when you realized you were not feeling the one technique you switched over to a new method ❤ I sometimes stick with a technique I discover that I don’t like…and then I don’t enjoy making the quilt. It is a good reminder to me that I CAN change my mind

      I have struggled with the same thing but I am getting a bit better with it. That dark blue section is now waiting to be cut up and turned into coasters or something like that 😂

    Love the experimenting. Often times, you see the end result after experimenting. I think this is far more interesting. Then it will be fun to see what you do with what you learned after too. Thanks again Kristen for a fun video!

      Yes I learned tons! Mostly about things I won’t do again but I had lots of fun experimenting with the appliqué and found a few things I probably will try again.

      I suspect the machine companies are open to the various techniques that are devised by quilters. I have seen Handiquilter videos about piecing and appliqué on a longarm. I’m waiting for a machine and these are some of the techniques I want to use it for, as well as couching, bag making, and traditional machine quilting.

    This is awesome! The added flowers make it really POP!!! The colors blend together well. When I get more confidence using my longarm I will definitely try this.

    I love it! Can’t wait to see the next movie one!
    Longarms fascinate me. I know nothing about how they work, but there are at least 2 ladies within an hour of me who have one, so I’m thinking of having one of them quilt my “weight loss quilt” if they will allow me to sit & watch a bit. Like an in person tutorial, so that I have a better idea of the process.

    I love the way it turned out! I could easily see myself trying for this end result. I have been contemplating trying some applique. Your video has motivated me. I am going to be making some quilted tote bags next. I think they will be the perfect size to start on! Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

    I have been thinking about doing a QAYG go quilt on the Moxie. Im loving this quilt! Fabulous colors with the pink, aqua, & red. I really like this method though! I LOVE THIS QUILT!! Great job.

    For an experiment, with no plan, your quilt turned out absolutely gorgeous! I love it. Maybe once I get more comfortable and understand my long arm better, I will try a QAYG. Thank you for sharing ❤

    I've never sewn on a longarm. I don't have the room, but when I did I was completely intimidated by it. I have done some quilting on my sewing machine and i plan to use some of your videos to do more QAYG and walking foot quilting.

    I love how you played with the techniques for doing this! I've only done strips and binding with the square feet but I'm definitely going to play with using more improv methods that you showed here. With one quilt I did I just did strips initially but then went back over with contrasting circular quilt designs as well. I was very happy with it 🙂

      Going over it with extra quilting makes sense but I was done with this one at that point 😂. I have another QAYG on the longarm project in the works. Feeling much simpler than this one but we’ll see!

    Wow, that came out really pretty! It's kind of "shabby chic." Great use of fabrics you don't particularly like. I don't have a long arm. I used a friend's long arm twice, but didn't try QAYG on it.

      I’m taking that term - shabby chic sounds so much better than ‘twee’ 😂. I bet there is a smaller scale version of something like this you could do on a domestic.

    Oh wow! I absolutely love this quilt love the colors. Sometimes when we're just relaxed and doodling and really don't have a plan it works out for the best. Your quilting is awesome. You have been practicing I can tell LOL can't wait to see your next quilt

      Added the larger ones the same way as the strips. Stitched and flipped the longest side and turned over the other raw edges. Thanks for watching!

    Wow, that turned out really pretty! Feels like spring. I like the big flowers that you sewed on. I am a newbie on my longarm, and I have been sort of afraid of it. But I am really going to play with it and get better. I love this idea of making the quilt right on the machine.

      My projects are often like that! Hot mess in the middle and then I almost don’t finish and when I do I discover I like it. These are not my colors at all but this is one of my favorite quilts now because of the texture.

    I was going to say darker blues would have gone well with those colors, but when revealed at the end it was perfect as is. The darker blues probably won't have been as nice as I thought.

    Reminds me of a Kawandi quilt. Check out “ Conquering Mount Scrapmore” Brenda does a Kawandi by hand and another using her domestic machine.
    I know it isn’t exactly a Kawandi but it looks like an Improve Kawandi.
    I’m so inspired by you and your “Let’s Give it a Try” approach.

      Thanks! I have seen Kawandi loads of places but didn’t think this was what folk had in mind with that so didn’t use the word. I think the next method I am trying is maybe a bit closer to that…but also not really 😂

    Great idea for a fast quilt! How many hours did it take including cutting your strips? I like the flowers and leaves---without them the quilt would have been "nice", but not as fun or interesting! Good job!

    Have you seen the Handiquilter Live tutorial on Raw Edge Scrap piecing on a long-arm? I think you would like it. My daughter is doing it to use up scraps for a project and loves it.

      Is that the one with the couching? If it is then yes I’ve seen that one. I would have to color coordinate more than they did though 😂 I’ve never tried couching yet either.

      @@ScrapFabricLove Yes she showed couching, yarn applique and chenille it. You don't have to do the couching. It's mostly decorative. My daughter heavily quilted then is cutting hearts and stars with AccuQuilt dies.

      Aw fab! The one I am working on now is raw edge but no couching and yes heavily quilted - lots of matchstick quilting lines! I’m using bigger pieces for now but I’ve been liking it so might go smaller next time!
