    • @toflyfish
      @toflyfish  7 лет назад +2

      Hey, thanks, Bryon! These are size 3/0, and I love these hooks. They're perfect if you have the chance to get some really strong and big fish, but they're small enough in diameter to sink in without having to Bill Dance the fish. Here's the full article/recipe. I always put this info on my site rather than in the video, since I can change things without having to put up a different version of the video. Thanks again!

It is PERFECT for stripers and hybrids! It's discontinued, but you can still find it. Here are some links from the site, that might help you out with stripers. Also, I include a shad pattern that is super effective on stripers/hybrids when there's a bit of current, or a lot of it. Hope this helps, and thanks again!

    @toflyfish I need help with something I have been tying flies and teasers with the hook up, mostly all of my flies my question to you does it matter if the hook is up or if the hook is down please give me info on this. Have I been time my flies wrong?

    • @toflyfish
      @toflyfish  4 года назад

      Hi Mike, normally a Clouser is tied hook up so that you can get a nice jig-like action with the weight. The nice thing about tying your own flies is that you can tie flies any way that you want, so if you're not hooking up right with the species you're targeting, then switch things up. Depending on the species (for example, striped bass and hybrid striped bass), the upright hook has high landing rates.
      Hope that helps!

    Toflyfish can you show Tying a clouser using buck tail? This pattern is super cool and I'm going to tie it but I have a ton of buck tail in different colors I would like to use. Nice job and narration. Thanks

    • @toflyfish
      @toflyfish  7 лет назад +2

      Hey Tim. I may do something with a bucktail version in the future. I try to have unique flies and videos, and there are dozens of videos that tie the Clouser with bucktail. I have my own take on it of course. I may do a video in which I show you how to do a few different things, like tying a Half-and-Half and incorporating flash in different ways. If you want to get started, search for the video Tying a Clouser Minnow with Bob Clouser. Good luck!

      Hey Ivan, thanks for the kind words! This hook is definitely strong enough, I would assume for large hucho hucho--pike no problem. • @toflyfish
      @toflyfish  7 лет назад

      Hi, Bang. If you mean the tool that I use as I'm tying the entire pattern, then that is a bobbin. If you mean the tool that I use to finish the fly, then that is a whip finisher/whip finish tool. There are mainly two kinds, and the one that I use is the Matarelli version. They are all quite easy to find normally. Hope that helps!
