I have tried this method and found it, not only discoloured the elastic after a month or two it actually swelled the elastic up, so I stopped doing it and now use a proper one, I can’t afford to change elastics and renew how often the sponsored pros can.
1 part conditioner 7 parts water... basically a inch or 2 of conditioner then fill up with water in a washing up liquid bottle 👍 not too thick u don't want it clogging up .. its just a thick slippy water when mixed in a bottle.
Tried and tested and yes this really does let the elastics rip. Thanks Jamie Lad.

I just wash and go. Assume you’re dandruff free while fishing Jamie, another plus.
