- Shading techniques are a vital skill for the product and industrial designer. The addition of shading to a page full of sketched design ideas helps the designer to communicate his or her ideas and thoughts to their client. Here are some tips and advice on making the process as straightforward and fluid as possible, allowing the designer to focus upon being creative and problem solving.

Hey man i just want to say that you are by far one of the best design content creators, you keep it short and simple so it dosent get boring, great work!!
Really appreciated! Thank you
That's true man!
This guy is amazing, he literally teaches you helpful techniques and when you go down to the comments, he answer every question and if it’s not a question he still replies to you
That is super kind of you. Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏
your anatomy of hand and fingers around object are also well balanced...really nice
Very kind, thank you!
These hands are superbly drawn as well.
J_sun Barry very kind, thank you!
Your videos are gold
Jesus Jose Castillo Vilchez thank you!!!
Love this! Nice way to get the shading inputted on to the drawing quickly!
Thanks!
Mind blown 💥
Tom Forde thanks!!
Wow! So cool
Gaming Stars thank you!
If you don’t want to keep stopping put it on 0.25x playback speed. i found it helpful because I didn’t have to press pause every 10 seconds
kian nelson great idea!
You are incredibly talented
Really appreciate it, thank you
even the music is astonishing
Guilherme Purri thank you!
I very much like the way you emphasise the main shadows by making the respective outline bold. Will try that. I only wonder, if this might be a special technique for stills or "mechanical stuff", and whether it will suit people or "living subjects" as well. Thank you very much for sharing your speed painting. Learned a lot just watching you. 🤩
Thank you madiko! This style transfers well to living subjects too. The only thing to add is that this technique is assuming there’s a bright light near by, rather than ambient or soft lighting. The bright light casts shadows that are high contrast and sharp edged. This will work on people and living subjects but looks quite dramatic. We’re more used to seeing shadows cast by ambient lighting. These give a softer and more gradual shadow. I hope this helps.
@@productdesignermaker You are right! I knew there was something I was missing, I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I will consider that when applying your neat techniques. Thanks again and have a nice day :-)
madiko my pleasure. Best wishes.
Hi Sir, I have some questions regarding your design and the equipment you are using.
Hi, I've added some links in the description below the video. Best wishes.
Amazing! Do you use any reference to know where the shade in the bottle and hands go?
Adriana Reinoso thank you. There’s some information on that in my previous video, but it’s all of the areas that would be a little further hidden from the light source. I’m imagining a light source somewhere to the right hand side, and above the paper. Surfaces towards the left hand side, and ‘underneath’ are the ones where the light doesn’t reach so well.
I tried drawing it and it looked like a duck with a squashed head
kian nelson some people train for years before they are able to draw a duck with a squashed head! Well done!
ماشاء الله
Thank you!
Any plans to release an in-depth drawing course? If you ever do, I’ll be the first to sign up! Amazing work! Really enjoy watching your content :)
Thank you. Not too sure how to go about it, but I’d like to at some point.
Bro ur actually insane. What pen do u recommend using?
Thank you. I’m using a paper mate flair and a paper mate flair fine here.
What pen are you using, the gray one. I'm looking for a pen similar to the sharpie pens that are kind of streaky and light when moving quick, but can take marker with out feathering.
It’s a papermate flair.
@@productdesignermaker The gray one? I've never in my born days seen a paper mate flair that thin.
@@productdesignermaker Just checked it on amazon. I'll be damned! They make a thin version of it! Thanks!
Adrian it’s pretty awesome!
@@productdesignermaker I just ordered some! Thanks. I find with my chartpak markers, even ball points end up smudging, and gel rollers just have too consistent of a line to really get that "look" before I lay down my main lines. I love how sharpies work, but xylene on xylene you know.
Thanks for the response! Much appreciated!
which pens did you use ?
sumanth R P these are the papermate flair and papermate flair ultra fine.
Great job! Can I know what pens you used? 😊
Hi, paper mate flair!
its like watching a cnc machine..
Thank you!!
these used to be soap bottles but now they are disinfectants...
Haha yes! Signs of the times! Let’s hope we’re back to ‘normal’ very soon!
You sure do like hand lotion 😂😂😂 jk
Haha! You must be looking at the sketches rather than my hands!! 😂
Is he focusing on a product, or a list!?
Not sure what you mean, sorry.
