- An auto driver was caught overcharging a passenger on 8th February in Dimapur. The driver charged more than 100 rupees from Nutun Bosti till Supermarket area while the normal fare is 70 Rs maximum. Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union president Tito Yeptho informed that as per the complaint received from the passenger the accused driver was penalised by the union. The driver has been banned from driving for 2 weeks and in addition, the particular auto which he was driving will also be seized after informing the owner of the vehicle

Fare meter should be install in every auto, because for example, if a person from new market go to eg. Like chumu or anywhere he or she still won't know what's the exact hire fare in that area too.

My neighbour always say that he never hire a taxi driven by a local taxi driver in Kohima and Dimapur. Why I asked ? His reply was - Big Bro, "ki kuriwo taikhan the way they charge us is too high like rs150 for not even a kilometer ride,and we can never negotiate at all,because the attitude they posses is too much for us to handle,I feel humiliated to even bargain with them because the way they talk if we try to negotiate it effects my self respect,atleast non local drivers we can talk freely even if they listen to us or not".
Through this I would like to tell all the local taxi drivers be it auto as well in kohima or dimapur or any other place in Nagaland , check your attitude and the way you talk with your customers,u don't want to go at certain price ,fine ,but the way u deal with your customers do it without attitude,that's the reason why nobody prefers to hire or sit in an auto or taxi driven by a local. This is the ground reality no matter how hard it might hit you all taxi drivers. Peace ✌️

Hypocrisy! Auto Drivers' Union protested when DC Office set the auto fare. Don't talk about betterment of public when all you do is business and publicity stunt

If the President of the UNION cannot say the exact Rates/Fares (He is found saying Town Trip 50 to 70), it is bound that the Drivers will take advantage and charge Higher Rates. Concerned Authority should Look into the matter at the Earliest.

The union should maintain fare chart so that the passenger can also make themself aware of the proper fare. Atleast of some main points and junctions.

Imagine a Naga driving auto in Bihar, he'll beaten up atleast once in a day, even doubt we will be given fare, increase in non local driver is only taking job opportunity from us. If DADU could give limited licence to non local or completely not giving would be even better. Just my opinion....

M staying in longleng so I don't av much idea about the auto fares...from hongkong market to purana bazaar auto driver charged me Rupees 450 but after negotiation I paid 400...dat happened last year of 2022 december

Please counter check especially the LOCAL Drivers who mostly overcharges the fares....., Non-locals are more approachable in terms of fares, I had personal experience stopping a LOCAL driver Auto charging Fare of Rs.100 for trip from City Tower to Lengrijan Jn (Imli Ghas), A Non-Local charged Rs.70, but settled for Rs. 50 and took me there. (Locals including myself think of getting more RS in a short time, but it is otherwise for others).

To tackle this issue, every auto should either install a proper fare meter or should register for an online cap booking app (eg., Uber, Rapido and Ola).

Please install the fare meter. also card payment or mobile payment service. .there will be no more misunderstanding.. meter can start with an activation rate of 30-40 Rupees or more up to 2 km or less. what are we waiting for dear TAxi union, there will be no differentiation between Local and non-Local, and to be honest, if you really care about our naga brother and sister, maintain drivers ratio between Local and non-local, for eg 30:70, give first privilege to interested nagas, this way we will regain our dignity.

These days auto drivers are charging rates higher than Burj Khalifa.
Another thing is that, when it was corona, price of fares rose drastically but now why don't they decrease itas there's no more corona. For example, just to go to 6th mile, costs 60 per person. This is just unfair. They should think about daily wage earners for whom Rs60 is too much to pay. Every time they give excuses of road conditions and petrol prices but now the road is ok. They should be decreasing it but it's not done and public also do not express their concern so they take advantage
Hosa asey, auto drivers charges so so much. Just to go to railway colony from ddsc stadium, they asks for 100rs to 150rs. .. Now, this will be a lesson for them

Check the auto fair in 4 mile area you will get heart' attack believe me and see the results, from refferal hospital to Nihoto road after crossing highway for just 80 meter they're charging 150 so in ground reality its different.
I took the auto rickshaw from 4th mile junction to hope academy junction and from there via Seitheke basa went to JCB Showroom till there they charged me Rs.600 😂 saying petrol price was hike and the road condition was also not good 🙏🤣
