  • This is the most amazing abandoned house I've personally explored! The journey in locating it deep in the woods was half the fun. This home has been empty since 1945.

I love doing research on stuff like this. So far here's what I found out. Ron Edwards is the grandson of Frank Edwards SR. The grandfather died on May 30, 2003. Given Ron's date on the wall was September of 2003 it may indicate that he grew up in the home. He wouldn't have built it as he was born Jan 30 of 1921. His father is a different story; William Edwards and his mother Eugenia Fowler Edwards. Reading the history for the area, the first settler arrived in 1800 and the land was mainly given as reward for being a soldier in the revolutionary war but some was also sold. The area was organized in 1811. This makes the home no earlier than 1811 in my opinion. As a side note Frank Edwards Jr. died August 3, 2015. If I find out more I'll post it but thought you'd be interested.

Well the whole history of the House should be at the County Court House or Local Library ,,, Tax Records , Deed and Title Transfers all Public record shouldn't be that hard unless a Fire burned down the places where all the records were kept which actually happened a lot more then one might think....

Love the video! I used to do exploration of old buildings and abandoned places near where I live in PA. I hope to get back into it! Sadly many places have been torn down or have fallen down. That is awesome! I hope you are able to buy it and restore it. I know you don't want to take things but in this case, that beautiful woodwork should not be allowed to just decay. It should be restored to it's original beauty. Once it is gone, it's gone forever. Maybe if all else fails, you should rescue it. I was raised in an 1860s' house. My brother bought the farm and after several years was forced to tear down the old house but he rescued the beautiful old woodwork first and made the rest of us kids a beautiful plaque with some of the wood. They just don't build houses like that anymore. Thanks so much for sharing and thanks for keeping the language clean.

There was very minimal damage to the house it self from vandalism. The windows and doors were removed and taken out of there many years ago. You may be able to work out an agreement with the current owner. I admire the courage it takes to enter into the unknown where anything is possible. Very wise indeed to not do it alone. No joke, that wood is worth a fortune. The shoe was a womans dress shoe from the late 1800's and early 1900's. It looks like the house was built a LONG time ago and then
someone bought it and refurbished the entire interior.

Imagine owning the house, and seeing this video... somehow. Think about how this was a home for a happy family, or maybe a few. Many holidays, birthdays, weddings, and events either hosted in or by owners of this house. People *lived* here... Lives were spent here, friends were made here. Now, someone is running through it with a camera. Filming the once private property of a group of friends, a family of people working together to get through life. Here we are.....
My point is that it's insane how people spent lives here, and it's still here to be documented. A run-down time capsule, really. Fascinating.

The house is in great shape considering it's been abandoned 70yrs! Wow, what a beautifully built home. It makes me sad that such a great structure was left to withstand history in solitude and neglect. The 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 2010s, a whole lifetime and all the while it was a home to nobody. Im guessing Amish lived here and Amish still probably own it.
Amish are not flashy and have very bland, unassuming homes. They keep them tidy with little material items, especially back in the day. That is probably why there is little trash and junk laying around in and around the house.

Cool house! I bet if you dig in the cellar you will find lots of goodies. A friend's mom had a house that was built in 1800s with a portion of the cellar with a dirt floor. I don't know how we got started on it but we dug up part of that dirt floor and found all kinds of old bottles, tins, bones (from food - nothing creepy [darn]), bits of half rotted but very old papers/books, and the like. Found out from another friend's parent that people used to throw away their garbage in those dirt cellars, especially in the winters when they didn't want to go to the outside garbage heap. They just dug holes in the dirt floor and buried their trash. It turned out to be a treasure trove.

This house didn't appear to have any heat other than wb stoves or fireplaces, no electricity, no running water and no bathrooms. Still would have been a really beautiful house full of love and life!

Looks like it was architecturally stripped in the early 2000s for its antique fittings.
The carved door frames could not have been taken as the top sections are acting as lentils, supporting upper floors.

Gosh I love that door. That house could be restored . most of the wood is in great shape. But that foundation... Kept that house standing straight up. If nothing more, someone should clean it up and make a fort for grown ups .

I see an Apparition standing inside the front door staring outside in the very last picture of the house, and at the very end of the video. She has a white knee length dress on and her hair is long, brown, and wavy. Does anyone else see her or is it just me? It is at the end of the film during the recap of the walk when they show the front side of the home 22:21. Is she real or photoshopped? Just curious...She looks real to me!

So much on this house is salvageable. The door and window frames, the brick and stone. Even the siding and the interior framing. Yes, I saw the ghost in the doorway at the end. It looks like a knock-kneed girl with a short skirt, so couldn't be as old as the house.

2:30 That thing looks like it's probably part of the saw for the sawmill. I remember going to a sawmill with my dad when I was a kid. The saw they feed trees into to make lumber is a huge disk with giant serrated teeth like a shark and that chain looks like it turned the saw. We lived in some woods which had been pretty much clear cut some 70 to 100 years ago and there had been a sawmill there then. Nothing remained of it, but you could see the deep grooves that ran down the side of the ridge where they had pulled the logs down to get cut up. They were deep enough to still be plainly visible so many decades later. Since then, the woods grew back up to fairly impressive sized trees, but nothing was older than 100 years for sure. That was in East TN. You can see drawings of Knoxville (including the University and river bank) during that same time period and there is hardly a single tree, because they cut them all down I guess to make houses and barns and buildings and stuff. So it wouldn't surprise me if what you see in the video there is part of the saw for an old sawmill.

Interesting vid. So you posted this a year ago, have you been back to metal detect? That would be so cool if you found a depression bank or posthole jar. I used to metal detect all the time. Very cool. So you never saw any old roads around the place? That's an even better indicator that it HAS been empty for a very LONG time.

    • @Quincygrn
      @Quincygrn  7 лет назад

ByGraceIGo -- No, I haven't. I need to get permission to metal detect the property, and currently have no clue who the property owner is. I'm quite sure there are some interesting relics to be found. Maybe someday the opportunity will present it self. thank you for watching

Be careful where you step outside of these old places. You
probably already know this but they used to have cisterns which were a hole dug in the ground and lined with stone or something. It was used for rain water to be caught after it ran off the roof through gutters. They would have this for their water supply if there was no well and the house was not near a creek or some other water source. I really like your video style and will subscribe. Thanks

So the "ghost" people keep commenting on at 22:21 is really fake looking. 1) ghosts don't look like that 2) it just looks cheesy. He would have commented on it if it were real because he obviously edited in the photos which required him to see them. Great video otherwise
