Listening to this on Christmas day while my wife still sleeps, its beautiful music for today. Thank you Andrew, your playing has led me to buying my first classical guitar last month.
Ivé been a big fan of Mr. York for decades ! I think there is nothing better than when an artist plays only his/her own music in a concert and especially when it´s as wonderful as this music ! I think this is what the classical guitar needs these days . This music is so refreshing .I wish conservatories encouraged students to compose and dare to be original instead of playing the same old war horses . Mr, is a great figure in the advancement of the guitar! Thank you !!
This morning I heard a song from you for the first time on my favorite German station “NDR Kultur”: Lotus eaters. I was thrilled and so I searched and found more of you on You tube. I used to play guitar and composed a little in my youth. Now I'm 80 and I just listen. To me, you are a wonderful new discovery. Many Thanks!
This is the true Guitarplaying! Each Chord is an own poetic story! Food for the Soul! The Nylon String Guitar has her own charming! A rare Juwel in the time of today.its pure Magic in the Hands oft Andrew, shows the Bad People, this is the Real! Thank you!
You can't replace nylon ( perhaps by gut strings...) I need it for f.e. Bossa nova, Gypsy jazz, or Leonard Cohen... Love Andrew's song 'Home': quite simple, but full of 'soul' (Elsewhere on You Tube). Another favourite of mine is 'Waiting for Dawn' at 32.40. ❤ 😊
Well alright, your music, performances and personality are legendary. Who knew from our days at Gar-field H.S. you would become so complete! All the best, Tony “76”
I'm absolutely blown away by your artistry. You're one of the best things to come into my life man! Bass player from Minneapolis. I listen to hours every day!
Wow! I recently discovered your music because of my guitar teacher, and I really feel a strong connection with your compositions. Thank you for your music
Wonderful concert. And very fun knowing it was performed in a place very near where I lived in 1953, before it was an auditorium. Memories on top of great music. I wish the notes showed the names of the pieces played. Thanks.
That was the best sounding hall on the West Coast, perhaps the entire country. Their concert series was so classy and I mourn the end of the Ambassador era.
Beautiful concert. You are truly the contemporary GOAT of classical guitar. As a jazz guitarist who appreciates classical I find your compositions melodically rich, fun and challenging to listen and of course to attempt to play. In this performance I enjoyed every piece ... do you have the 7 untitled exercise pieces for sale or available on your site?
Minor7thb5, thanks for your kind message. I think the collection you are referring to is Eight Dreamscapes, and that is available on my website: andrewyork.net/SheetMusicDownloads.html
You rocked the hair in the 90’s sir. I’m merely a humble builder but discovering your music has really enriched my world. Oh, and your maths lessons with apricots. Thanks fella.
Maestro York, your playing is a revelation. I first came upon your performance of "Home". It remains among the most exquisite and moving tunes I have ever heard, and I've heard a lot. Since then I've attempted to listen to everything you've done and I remain enchanted. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
I discovered your music recently . What an artistic devellopment listening from very good to outstanding. I will introduce your music to my psychotherapy patients and enjoy it myself. All the best to you , stay healthy and alive !! Rudolf Dietrich MD Germany
Sunburst has been one of my favorite pieces for the past 30 years. Funny enough, I was there in the audience in Pasadena. What a great concert hall...what a shame it's been 'closed off' to the public.
Played in a master class for you (LAGQ), at Stetson in the mid 90's. During a pause, we were chatting you remembered my name It has always made me smile. Thank you! At the time I was playing a 94' Cedar Millennium
@@AndrewYorkguitar Thanks for the response. Bill, Scott and John were also there. However, you were there a couple of times during my stay. Once when the LAGQ played Daytona. Cheers, Phil
Andrew - how about you record a youtube concert? You got so many new melodies - it would be great to hear old and new together. And I bet some of your friends would love to join for such a collaboration project too. And if you want - with a live Q&A, you could even sell tickets for online streaming of this concert, aka a premier.
