RJJ, Thanks for reacting to "Dice". It's one of my favorite Band-Maid songs. Band-Maid defies categorization into any specific rock genre. Simply, Kanami, their lead guitarist and composer, uses whatever genre gives the song the best sound, often mixing several genres in one song. In my opinion MISA and Akane are one of the most intuitively brilliant "rhythm section" in rock and roll. There are so many great song that Band-Maid, I understand why it's hard to go through their calalog of over 130 songs. Keep reacting to them and I'll continue to slick onto your reaction videos and hit the like button. Again, Thank you RJJ.

7:35 - The line you were thinking of was "Which do you prefer? The candy or the whip?". You said that the line was something like "the carrot and the stick" which isn't too wrong but what they're referring to is a duality of circumstance, two facets of existence and specifically 'the sweet and the sour' (a line that they actually use later in the song). Miku (rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist, founder of the band and almost unfeasibly beautiful woman) wrote the song and she is very skilled at playing on Japanese and English word meanings as well as writing lyrics that are often deeply steeped in Japanese philosophy and aestheticisms and writes of love without ever being sugary, light or frothy, just meaningful and forthright. The blindfold coming off the girl at the end signifies awakening to possibilities and a wider perspective.
Yes, I did mean to mention the blindfold at the end, and I was thinking along the same lines as you describe here. Didn't want to stray to far away though. 🙂
@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh Japanese can be hard to interpret as it is many-layered and words often have double or triple meanings. But never worry about misinterpreting as Band-Maid fans will always appear and explain things! I'm probably wrong, but I took that to mean that she is telling them to ignore the possibility (or reality) the world is deterministic and live your life as if you're in control. This is how I live; I can't prove I have free will, but I live as if I do. I might be overthinking this, but I try not to underestimate Miku.

Here's my take on DICE's lyrics: I know the "dice" have already been thrown (as in her lyrics), but I choose to look at it as stop being indecisive, sitting in a dark room playing with dolls (TV, phone, toys, games, etc.). "Seize the moment", roll the dice, open your eyes, and walk into the light! Miku's lyrics, especially after translation, can be a bit cryptic - open for interpretation, as are all poems and lyrics. But their music is always right on point which melds the two into wonderful songs of possibilities! Thx, RJJ!

Miku wrote the lyrics to this. Miku is one who recognizes that there is no substitute for hard work to overcome adversity, but that there are always risks and some game of chance in life's dealings. One less talked about fact about Miku is her hobby of betting on horse races. You can do all the study on the horses, recognize the odds, but even then there are risks from race to race. When you lose, you pick yourself up and push on.

My understanding of the song is an attempt to address a societal problem where young people finish their education with no ideas of what they want to do so simply stay at home and live off their parents/social security. "You should be knowing that situation you got". Each verse describes the difficulties while the choruses offer hope, "Why don't you give it a shot?". But Saiki can't wait all day for this person to make a choice, "May I take your order?".

Live Maid is the Best Maid.... the MV's are good however anyone can fake it in the studio ... the Maids excel in the Live environment....No God, Puzzle, Dont You Tell Me, Freedom, Domination are only a few of the many amazing live performances they have put out..... I have seen them 4 times live and I cant wait for them to come back to the states....

@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh I'm not surprised at the different pronunciations but "Gorilla" is never mispronounced, lol. There are several interviews with the band members names being said as well as excellent individual bio's on Ohrenji's channel, Miku's is three videos long.
