    It's a tragedy this fella doesn't have way more subs. Watched two of your vids and they spoke directly to my soul. I struggle with "gamer guilt" constantly because I collect more than I'll ever play. This is especially true as I dive further and further into emulation. Thank you so much for your awesome vids. Just downloaded a RNG app! Game on!💪❤️

      Thanks for your kind words! I probably don't deserve more subs since I haven't posted consistently!
      As for gamer guilt, or backlog guilt, I've been reading a lot of comments about that lately, so it's starting to feel like the next natural topic to explore for a new video.
      Hope you were able to use that app to pick some games!

    I actually did tip 6 a while back and uninstalled every single solitary game I owned, and I ended up not playing any video games for almost 8 months. I didn't realize I was so burnt out on gaming. I came back and video games were super fun again, and my backlog was actually interesting rather than being a chore. Highly recommend.

      Highly recommend. I took two month long breaks in 2021 and I found that was really helpful. I started rediscovering other hobbies and was able to reprioritize some things in my personal life.
      The best part is you can come back refreshed and see it differently.

    Great video, your videos actually inspired me to go trough with my backlog in late 2021, started october 2021 as of today have already beaten 10 games and am now playing the witcher 1, really good to see you develop more on your analysis paralysis video, really liked that one, cheers!

    My method is to narrow down the choice by assigning a 1-10 "excitement score" to games on my backlog based on how excited I am to play them. Then, after rating a couple of games this way, I look at the highest rated games and make a choice from there.

    Thanks for this. I always go back to games you can play forever, like Slay the Spire. I like the “opposites” idea especially, since I definitely fall in the play-the-whole-series trap and then get bored. Glad I found your channel!

    • @ChrimChrimbo

      The series trap is real. I think it’s really about playing a game that is familiar and comfortable. It’s a lot easier than having to learn something new.

    Very nice approaches! I think all of those tips and tools have the same goal overall… take your gaming experience more with ease. It’s not a competition and you aren’t obligated to finish everything you started. Recently I played through 1/2 of Phoenix Wright and while I had fun with it, it was just too slow for me personally. So I take an radical approach of deleting the game instantly. Being gone from my harddrive, the guilt of seeing that unfinished game every day vanishes a bit. At the same time, if the game pops into my mind again, I can always download it again and give it another try.

    • @ChrimChrimbo
      @ChrimChrimbo  3 года назад +1

      Personally, I find it very satisfying to delete a game that I'm not gelling with. The big goal is to just enjoy what you have and toss the dross.

    I try and pair a big game with a small one. Mostly focusing on the big game but taking breaks in between to tackle the small game in between. Usually I try and mix up the genre/type of the two.

    I've recently started a backlog that, i'm not so sure if calling it so, since it's composed of 99% games i don't even own (but will get them right before playing them) of over 400 games, games that i've heard so much about and hit my interest, mostly i thought at first on making a short list with the must play games and play through them, but as i added more things i got myself a bit carried away, my objective is analyzing each of these games, maybe stream it, and take away as much game design as possible, (since i'm studying programming and art to some day hopefully get my own indie dev studio)
    Right now i have everything in one big dumb unorganized notepad txt file, but after discovering your channel it has helped me a lot and will be organizing everything in the next few weeks
    I'll be joining the discord and seeing how everything goes, sadly i don't always have much time, since most of the time i spend playing with my gf games that are multiplayer, the rest goes to my classes and other study things, but any free time i get i try to dedicate it to this

    • @ChrimChrimbo
      @ChrimChrimbo  2 года назад

      Welcome to the community!
      Being more organized is a great tool to ACTUALLY playing the games you think you want to play.
      I also end up abandoning single player stuff for multiplayer, just how it goes.

    I keep telling myself I'm not buying anymore games until I beat at least a good amount of my backlog. I haven't bought a new game in months and even before then I had so many games on my Switch that it will literally take years to replay. I wish there was a more active community that kept hype going for games regardless of the time they were being played so that social momentum compelled me to keep going through games. Sometimes I will breeze through short games and games I just love and other times I lose hype as new stuff comes up. I try to limit the number of games I play at once and it's generally around 10 which is still too many.

    • @ChrimChrimbo
      @ChrimChrimbo  2 года назад

      As a shameless plug, our Discord has an active community of ppl who play older games and keep that hype going. We actually have someone replaying old Prince of Persia games atm.
      Otherwise I'd recommend r/patientgamers as another good place to look.
      It's a good practice to not start a bunch of games at once, otherwise it's tough to finish any of them.

    While my backlog is huge, especially since I emulate a lot of consoles as well, the fact of the matter is I've pretty much stopped buying more games now. The video game industry is really bad now and it's good timing. I have a nice library of games to choose from and it doesn't scare me and it's not daunting. It's refreshing to have all this choice.

    • @ChrimChrimbo
      @ChrimChrimbo  2 года назад +1

      I love having lots of options as well. The AAA industry is still in a weird place, but the myriad of indie games means gamers can be happy and tons of choices without getting shoehorned into the NFT/MTX wasteland that a lot of big pubs are turning toward.

    I’ve played recently God of war 3 and I’m currently playing God of war (2018), but I don’t know if I play Ragnarok after I beat God of war (2018). What would you recommend me?

    • @ChrimChrimbo
      @ChrimChrimbo  2 года назад

      I thought God of War (2018) was pretty good, and Ragnarok would be a natural progression (but don't be like me and burn out because you play an entire series).
      The Darksiders series has a lot of good hack and slash action, but something meatier and weightier would be getting into the Dark Souls series (Bloodborne would also be excellent.)

    It's nice to be poor. That way you can barely afford any games so you're pretty much left with only a few games to play which is nice because these days, I barely have the time or energy to focus on a game so a game with 10-20 hrs story mode is a nice overall length and doesn't leave me with endless grinds that are pointless and boring to complete.

    • @ChrimChrimbo
      @ChrimChrimbo  Год назад +1

      This was me for a long long time. It's why my backlog grew so much actually. I only had about $50-100 to spend every month or so on entertainment so I collected discounted bundles. It grew from there.
