- Catching The NS Erie Heritage Unit - Homestead, PA *Railfan BOMBS My Shot*. In this video I take a drive down to the Waterfront area of Homestead, PA just outside of Pittsburgh. The Norfolk Southern Erie heritage unit was leading a stack train and made its way through the area on the Mon Line heading to the Conway Railyard. While the train approached the crossing, another railfan went around the crossing gate where it is unsafe to get their shot of the train completely bombing mine in the process. I still salvaged some good shots. I was also fortunate enough to catch it a few days later in the same area. Enjoy.

Former alert for the railfan that photo bomb
Oh my god they made me so mad doing that. Not only that, it was completely unsafe going around the gate. The gate is placed where it's at for a reason.
That was really cool Wallie 👌👍🚂
And there's another thing I hate when people go into your shot when you are recording
Here's a tip wall usually the bigger the Train the slower they move the smaller the Train the faster they move that's usually the rule of thumb at least around here where I live in Wilkes-Barre sounds like it may be the same way out where you're at
Size of the trains has nothing to do with how fast or slow they go here. It's all about speed limits and/or if they have a crossover ahead. Now, out in the mountains like at Horseshoe Curve, they can go slow on the longer trains but only because of the struggle climbing the mountains with all that extra weight. I've seen long trains fly through the Sewickley and Leetsdale area of Pittsburgh before.
@@WallieB26 yeah totally different here the bigger ones move really slow and the small ones move really fast the horseshoe curve I would like to get there never been there yet wonder if there are buses that go out that way from my area have to check into it
I know I've probably asked before but how many heritage units are there and how many do you have on video??
NS has 20 in total with the Southern currently out of service.
