- The long-awaited...VERY LONG-WAITED update of the original Friday Night Funkin' game is finally here! While there isn't as much new content as expected (a new Weekend with four songs and 12 remixes), this update does make some changes to the old stuff. Let's take a look at all the changes I could find in this update.

Very slight change is that in the tutorial, gf‘s animations play all the way through instead of her going back to her idle in between arrows
Every character had that happen but gf was the last character to have that fixed.

1. in tutorial, bf and gf naturally hold their poses until they hit the next note
2. bopeebo was replaced by a beta version of the track, it was more than the vocals
3. guns got a rechart (and maybe some other songs?)
I think DD’s second song and monster got it as well. Also I struggle with Guns more now
definitely noticed the tutorial one beforehand, gotta love the little details.

@@jvgonzalez90 Guns' new chart is so much harder for me because I played the old one to bits. Some parts of the song are just hard-wired in my brain and it feels bad to have to rewire it.

according to the devs they wanted week 6 to have a retro look, so they dont know if they'll be adding notesplash

Likely they would add pixelated splash later
Notes become ghostly if you hit a note but get a "bad" or "shit" rating for it, since it also counts as a combo break
I was wondering why i hit notes but it still said i didnt
Also, "Philly" which is the 2nd song in Week 3, has been renamed to "Philly Nice".

Fun fact: Skid and Pump's "yeah!" Animation was a scrapped one back in 2020-2023 (Monster was also a scrapped song until Tankman update came out)
In the title where Gf is if you press left, right, left, right, up, down, up, down it will change into colors, pretty cool easter egg

Bf's voice in the new tutorial and bopeebo sound his old voice heard from the soundtrack
for the first week only, bf and daddy dearest were just pitched up/low pitched vocals of the same voice clip but the new bobeebo (soundtrack version) fixed that.

Yeah... I mean, that coulda stayed just to show there's something wrong with him, or whatever. Nail that he's a freaky guy in the non-fun way
if you wait around long enough on freeplay, animations will play around BF's speakers (such as DD appearing behind him, BF watching TV, etc).
At the start screen, you can press Y and the window will actually move around in a figure-eight. This stacks, so you can press Y multiple times and watch the window fly all over the screen.
Also, you can press this sequence, ⬅➡⬅➡⬆⬇⬆⬇, and the screen will be rainbow-ish, also new music will play.
Wait around there and the promo for a BF figurine will play.
On Weekend 1, there are actually different death animations based on how you died (hp down to zero, hit with spraycan, etc.)
There is also a unique death animation in Blazin'.
I'm pretty sure the smoothness is because the engine has gotten way better since we last played with it

In the free play, there is a new ERECT and NIGHTMARE mode, but they only have a few songs.
They have every song except the Week 7 songs.

For number 12 I'm rather disappointed that they changed the shot to not really be as dramatic. Not sure why they would make this change.

im kinda sad they removed the character animations for long notes, i always really liked those
They also fix daddy dearest left pose, now it had more that one frame
The song "guns" in week 7 was recharted
oh my God is that why i found it so much harder recently
if I had to guess, they probably removed the note splashes on pixel UIs because they're either still working on pixel sprites for note splashes and sustain things, or they're doing what psych engine does and working on a shader that pixelizes the already existing sprites
or maybe they just don't want them to be in the pixel UIs at all
pretty sure they also changed the charting for guns too, i played on hard mode and i noticed a bit of a change but idk if they changed the charting for anything else. rlly cool update tho

Not sure if this would count but pico erect got changed from the erect sampler (which was the erect song teasers we got a couple months ago).
Also, this may have been fixed with an earlier update and I just never noticed, but monster’s animations are fixed now, so his right pose plays when he hits a right arrow now.
The “ok” rating is also completely gone now. It’s just sick, good, bad, shit, and miss.

I believe there have been chart reworks. I can't name many since i mostly just played the new stuff, but i can confirm at least Guns was changed, which I'm mixed on. I'm not sure if it's just that I'm not used to it, but it feels for every thing they fixed that added something else janky.
New fnf is definitely better. I honestly liked the static poses though, idk why. It sorta just made long notes pop out more.
bopeboo sounding like its old version made me happy lol
The only thing I like about the new change is the new effect for long notes.
Edit: Also remember in Bopeebo, it’s the beta version. But Daddy Dearest’s voice is not demonic, it’s normal.
In the freeplay, there are idle animations, like bf watching tv and daddy dessert's sneaking behind bf
On the start screen (not the menu with the merch and stuff) if you press Left Right (2x) Up Down (2x) (just like the tutorial) the music changes

Idk if im the only one who noticed but pico stands closer to bf, and his down sprite seems out of place too (like he shifts to the right a bit)

I think it would've been more fitting if BF's Spookeez animation was used for his second "YEAH!", since he says it more enthusiastically that time. For Skid and Pump, just have them do it both times.

There's also controller support and it detects , Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox , and generic layouts automatically so default UI/select changes depending on ur controller
Also the layout it's basically just double dpads on ur buttons , and is really solid
( I always used joy to key to play so it was a nice change )

Fun Fact: You can press Q and E in the Freeplay Menu to access different categories for tracks as well as favourited songs. (You can add a song to the Favourites library by pressing F on it) Like if this helped

Some changes are for the worse, like the winterhorrorland one, and character positionings. Week 6 and week 3 for example, pico is too close to bf, and senpai and bf are a lil to close. While others go good like volume slider and RESULTS SCREEN! Chart editior too:>

Long notes are giving points while pressing them
in the title, press gf's tutorial pattern (left right x2 up down x2) for the screen to change different colors on beat and play a catchy little tune.
also in the game files it's called "girlfriend's ringtone" so that's cool ig
one pet peeve of mine that i hope is fixed eventually is how mommy must murder's (or mommy mearest) hair shading is still kind of messed up. it clips through other parts of her hair, which is possible because a lot of these animations are done with tweening and each part is separated by layers. i'm also sad the little henchmen animation where they get ripped apart by the ongoing pole wasn't added, i hope it wasn't scrapped because it was really funny to see the animation sprites in the files of the old version. otherwise, super happy with the updates and i'm excited for the full game to eventually release.
when hitting long notes at first it'll be at like instant score but now it'll count up to you're score when hittin long notes
It's good that Monster's pose swap is changed. Him using the left sprite for hitting right notes was really weird. Don't know how to feel about all characters not "shaking" when holding notes, it looks good for Monsters but not for the others. That, and after hitting notes they stay in their last frame for a while instead of going back to their idle on the next beat.

See the updates cool, but it's been too long.
I feel like if updates released more frequently (even if it was just a minor change) the game wouldn't be as "dead" as people say. (and before anyone says, ik already that the modding community is still alive)

1st of all, during this time, there has been major progress on the final game (there's abunch of shit we won't see until the Full-Ass Game is released) and secondly, smaller updates is how the demo will be updated going onwards.

how do i open the chart editor? im not that much of an expert when it comes to fnf
The transition is new as far as I can tell
null object reference happens when the game cant detect a file and recognizes it as null object because for the game "it doesn't exist" so it makes the game crash to prevent any bug this bug was fixed on 0.4.1 and the only remant of it is if you put on character editor on the playable character any character that doesnt have a game over screen and you lose it will display a message in the end of the message it says "is the object null?" but it doesnt crash at all of you press ok then it will just display the non-existent game over screen that is just the character static on a black screen and bf game over sfx and soundtrack this message only happens once per every game launch
They finally made separate VOCAL TRACKS for the opponent and the player.
fnf devs added a new thing into the game. When ur on widescreen and press left right and up down it will have a party music. and mostly and you press Y it makes the widescreen shake rapidly.
Idk why, but the static long notes remember me to Vs Retrospecter mod
