    The Mazzulla hate from Celtics fans last year was so odd to me. And I say that as a Celtic fan myself. The dude took over the team as a rookie coach the week of training camp and had a surrounding coaching staff that was one foot out the door before we even hit the halfway point of the season. Was he perfect? Obviously not and nobody should've expected him to be. I can't wait to see what he does with a coaching staff that is truly behind him and working with him, and with a full season of experience under his belt. He's got my support! And if you're a Celtics fan saying "fire Joe" please tell me who is replacing him.

      As a Celtics fan I have to say that I feel confused whenever a former Celtics player says something like "Boston fans can't be fooled, they know ball, they understand how the game works. Other franchises have a ton of casual fans who really don't understand the business." Well, these former players must have had the luckiest encounters with fans because I've had discussions with a ton of Celtics fans who don't know what they're talking about, the "Fire Joe" thing was just another example.

      @@joeparziale685 That's correct, but Joe did an amazing job regardless. He had no off-season to mentalize for a head coaching role, Ime got suspended less than a week before training camp. He didn't get to pick his coaching staff, he was there around Ime's guys minus Tom Hardy. Then lost Damon right before the playoffs.
      Also, people were saying dumb stuff like "Just do what Ime did" yeah right, Rob missed like 50 games and spent most of the season trying to get into game shape. Smart was nursing an injury for most of the season and was a shell of his DPOY season. So yes, good luck doing what Ime did without the two guys who made All-Defense teams.

    Don’t agree with the adjustment part. That’s what great coaches do, they know when to adjust and what adjustment to make. • @adolfBBC
      @adolfBBC 11 месяцев назад

      Agree, however Boston is definitely worthy of an exception. Their talent is so top tier, they just struggled to make the 3 ball land. Of course adjusting wouldn't hurt and I'm sure they'll be more inclined to do so this year. Another problem was between jb and Tatum they have similar scoring styles and never really played any 2 man game. I think as long as Boston have KP they'll be way better than people might even have them rn. If he stays healthy he's gonna shoot the lights out

    I strongly agree with Coach Mazzulla. You just don't know. And I think the better you are the more you understand it. There are so many permutations of how events could unfold, you could spend all your energy trying to speculate on it. Its much better to focus on the things you have at 80% control over
    It is a sign of strength to remove yourself from the space of narrative.

    I understand Joe Mazzulla got a lot of hate since he is a young coach, but basketball fans need to remember Erik Spoelstra went through the same thing but on another level since he had LBJ, Chris Bosh, and D-Wade. The Celtics believe in Joe Mazzulla, and I'll give it time before I make my final decision on how bad, good, or great of a coach Joe Mazzulla is. Celtics do have the talent to compete for a title, but it's tough to say which team in the east or west will make it to the finals.

    The fact that his #1 problem last year was his inability to make in-game adjustments and he goes on to say that he struggled with the line of when to go with analytics/actual gameplan worries me. His statement of when you go to make the adjustment you are screwed? Correct me if I’m taking it out of context, but imo that is not the versatile/agile mindset you need to make effective in-game adjustments lol.

    • @TheKhyLife100
      @TheKhyLife100 11 месяцев назад

      I think he’s admitting that he struggled with that balance because his default is ‘stick to what works with your squad’. He’s got the makings of a good coach tho, he needs time.

    As a fan it's easy to get overhyped lol especially with social media now a days. Will Dame and Giannis be the next kobe/shaq probably not. Do they have a chance to be damn good dear I even say special absolutely. Overall I think most NBA fans are just happy to see Dame get a chance to dance on the biggest stage. He gets a chance to show us why he's really a top 75 player and his names belongs next to the greats

    1:13 "coach I hate to tell you, but you did lose to the 8th seed" :P
    it kind of seems crazy the amount of access there is in 2023, like JJ sitting down with a coach of a top team in the nba that was in an incredibly dramatic Eastern conference final series for presumably I'd hope the pod was at least an hour
    like in 2001, if Larry Brown did any hour plus long interviews back then, I'm not aware of them
    if Don Nelson of the Mavs did any hour plus long interviews back then, I'm not aware of them
    It would've been neat to have a podcast with Erik Spoelstra after the Heat won the championship in 2006
    also, you need to fly him back out to the studio 1st class, get his thoughts on the Jrue trade if it hadn't happened prior to the podcast, and then fly him right back 1st class to training camp
