    The difference between the VTX1300R and the VTX1300S is the S stands for spoke. They are the same bike essentially, the R having cast aluminum wheels and the S being spoke wheels.

    I'm 5' 7" and my 1300 VTX is perfect for me. It's not too big and not heavy at all. It feels about the same as my 1100 Shadow does, so no big deal. Taking it off the side stand feels the same for me. plenty of power and it sounds great.

    Nice video. Personally I would prefer the VTX 1300 Fury but with a more comfy seat for the long haul. Can't afford that bike though so currently stuck riding my '88 Shadow VT750 Custom.^^

    I had an Ultra, got sick of dumping oil out of the air cleaner. The VTX has a nice catch can that can be drained.

    Ya need some pipes on that VTX. They sound like a sewing machine with the stock mufflers.

    • @n8h2o97
      @n8h2o97 6 лет назад

      Painter D yeah I'm looking at getting a 2009 and after this video I now have to do some research on aftermarket pipes, lol a sewing machine....lol love it.

    • @spanky522
      @spanky522 6 лет назад

      I looked into just drilling the holes in the rear of the mufflers, according to the many videos on here, but it still sounded hollow and crappy. I went one step further and took the end off the mufflers (tack welded on so had to be cut off with a Dremel tool) and cut the end completely off the baffles. The I re-mounted the chrome muffler ends with two self tapping screws to hold them back onto the mufflers (one in the backand one on the bottom on each muffler) It sounds just as good as any after market pipes, but isn't too loud at idle, so I can sneak out in the morning and not piss off the neighbors.

      Mine came with the vance and hines longshots. I bought the quiet baffles for them and love them. Just loud enough and not too rediculous. Not a loud idle but still able to hear it

    Hey, I've got a 2008 VTX1300C. They are not especially fast. Their older brother the 1986 Shadow 1100 had a much better engine. Pros with this bike: handles better than any other cruiser in the 1300 to 1700cc class. At the same time they have horrible steering head bearings which is a huge con. Do not take your hands off the bars...they also have a weird choke that you should never use. With a Mustang seat they are very comfortable for someone under 6' tall. I've had mine for 5 years and will keep it at least another 5 years. These models have a single carb. I've got the cooler tapered pipes which are not that loud but I still like them.

      @ Alan Power I'm getting a 04 1300C mind me asking why you say not to use the choke? What if it's a cold start and push in choke once it starts or after 30 seconds. What do you do on a cold start? Thanks for the help.

    • @alanpower2857
      @alanpower2857 6 лет назад +1

      Hi Robert - when you use the choke the engine revs so high it sounds like it's going to explode. That was my experience at least when I first got the bike. Here is my starting routine for all initial starts. Turn the key on. Crank the throttle 100% two times, but not so slow that you flood it. Push the start button and give it gas to keep it running. You will have to work the throttle a tiny bit but not for long to get the revs level so you don't stall. Also, don't ever use the kill switch. Shut the engine down with the key. When you go to restart after gassing up don't be surprised if nothing happens right away. You may have to hold the start button down for 3 seconds before it kicks in. Good luck with the bike. -Al

      @@alanpower2857 I have the same bike and you are right on. But why turn it off with the key only? And why does it take 3 seconds to hold the start button down after fueling?

    • @alanpower2857
      @alanpower2857 Год назад

      @@relevation0 I believe it has to do with the electical contacts for the high beam and the kill switch. Maybe gets too hot? I got the tip from one of the two big VTX sites a few years ago now. It starts up fine with my 'key' routine now but in the past I would press the starter and nothing would happen. That's scary.

      Great video! I basically had the same question. I’m not the tallest dude in the world. Do you think the foot controls and bars would be in a comfortable position? I’m used to riding shadows, which fit great. Even a little cramped. Thanks!!
