My mother is in the hospital right now and can not tolerate these cholchicine. She's throwing up everything and having severe diarrhea and severe stomach pain everytime she eats. The weight is falling off of her. They have cut her ibuprofen out completely and have gone from cholchicine twice daily to once a day and finally today its down to half a cholchicine in the am as of today. Do you confer with other cardiologists? I'm wondering if they could try the prednisone. Could you please respond with any guidance you might have as mom is deathly ill. We were told if the inflammation comes back she will have to have fluid drained off per a needle procedure and there's a good chance it will come back and that process will have to be repeated and possibly her pacemaker will need redone. She just had it put in August 29 this year. Any guidance would be ery much appreciated. cholchicine to 1 cholchicine to a half pill S of this am

Were you vaccinated? Though he says it’s rare, other sources report a relatively common cause (for this rare condition) IS the mRNA vaccine, more than the virus as a cause for pericarditis especially in young men. Apparently targeting individuals with high testosterone levels, which of course are young men

Do you recommend the colchicine plus ibuprofen for the first medicine to try? My girlfriend got this from a non sterile operation where they put a mesh to seal a hole in the heart. The girlfriend keeps getting pericarditis and the mesh comes off. Does this make sense? The doctors there in The Philppines seem to be very bad. They have not even given any anti-inflammatory and has now she has had 10 surgeries that I have had to pay cash for. The doctors there suggest nothing and most of the patients know nothing or what to ask and they die .
Might sound dumb but try a non-inflammatory diet. Helped me. For me, downing ibuprofen helps with the pain. But depending on the severity, you need a serious pain management prescription. Avoid prednisone and other antiinflammatory steroids at all costs unless you want moon face, weight gain, etc.
