Harry's is definitely equivalent to Gillette and cheaper , lets hope it stays that way , as long as I don't have to subscribe and just buy it in Boots when I chose to. Great contrast between these two. I personally use safety razors because it's just a more pleasant experience for me, but if I ever went back to regular multi-blade razors I think I would go for Gillette. This mostly for the simple fact that I can trust the stability of a hundred plus year old company owned by Proctor and Gamble more than that of what is still essentially a baby of a company. I am not interested in risking my handles becoming useless at any point. But I definitely agree with you that Harry's is a more likable company and I'm sure there are little to no differences in the quality of the products. I do use their body wash and it is fantastic.

OMG, sorry Gillette Harry's wins I have a bumpy and a few scars on my head, this means the safety razor doesn't get all the hair in the awkward parts. Fusion and Mach. Guys - never forget: Gillette HATE white, heterosexual males. If that's you, then what are you doing supporting your enemy? Harry's is the choice for "easy" shaving. But take it up a notch, and try safety razor shaving. More skill is required but blades are waaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper, and it's also waaaaaaaay cooler. I personally use the Rockwell and love it but there are many brands to choose from. The next step after that is to get into traditional straight or cut-throat razors. Much more skill and work, but the coolest thing of all!

  • @GothicDragonX
    @GothicDragonX 4 года назад +6

    I have been using Harry's for 4 years or so. I used to have Dollar Shave Club, and prior to that was a variety of Gillette, Schick, and a safety razor. I was disappointed with the safety razor, single blade and needed to be extra careful with it else an easy cut. Gillette and Schick was a toss-up between both brands, basically whichever was cheaper at the time and neither of them was cheap when it comes to their head replacement but a lot more comfortable than a safety razor for sure. Dollar Shave Club was the new kid on the block and I did admit that the home delivery concept was nice, and the replacement blades were so much cheaper but I was having problems with their shipments and from time to time there the handle was nice, but the razor heads was still a bit expensive in general but far cheaper than the other two. Eventually got tired of them and kept with them cause it was cheaper but had a necessity to have until I stumbled upon Harry's and their products. I have it a try and instantly I liked the Razor head selections because at the time DSC had 2, 4 or 6 blades per head and additional cost for each upgrade and Harry's had 5 blades for less as well as a much more simplify shopping experience and select your order or skip months if you didn't shave all that often. Overall I stick with Harry's and sometimes forget about them until I get a shipping update from FedEx that I am getting a delivery sent to me. Realizing "oh yeah I was running out of razors replacement this month". Although I do have to admit DSC does have a LOT of many options to choose from in terms of toiletries though they do get to be expensive VERY fast and is a subscription-based service it can get out of hand if you're not keeping an eye on it like a hawk.
    Long story short, I like Harry's they are simple and fair with their products, they don't push you to hop into a new product with every checkout or promotional item that comes with some sort of hidden fees like additional shipping fees (had happened to me with DSC), so if you are a cheap person like myself, Harry's is the best choice to go with while having a good product that rivals those of Schick's and Gillette's offering without the burden of using different heads that doesn't go with just a handle.

    At 74 years of age, I have tried both products. They are both good. From your review there is no slam dunk winner but you missed one major difference - customer service. Set everything else aside, which is the best to deal with? I wrote to Harry's via email and received a meaningful, prompt exchange. Try contacting Gillette. There is a phone number, but when I contact a company I prefer it in writing. Gillette provide no email contact or even an address. I do not want to provide meaningful feedback to a call taker who may or may not pass it on. Bottom line, I do not do business with a company who makes it difficult for customers to reach them. They are putting their needs ahead of their customers'.

    I'd used Gilette for about 30 years. Finally got fed up with not being able to buy the correct blades anywhere, along with the utterly confusing range (Fusion/Fusion5/Proglide/Proshield/Power??). Been using Harry's for a month now, twice a week, and at least as good as Gilette. Won't be going back any time soon.

    I don’t think the Gillette Mach 3 will ever be bettered, 2 blades isn’t enough and you get pull when shaving, 4 blades is too much, the blades get clogged up. I don’t know what the sales have been for other products but I’d bet that the Mach 3 is the best selling razor of all time (possibly after Bic disposables).

Every few days or say, with Gillette the prices are more expensive and the blades don't last as long however with Harry's, the shave is closer and the blades last longer. With Gillette I can get 2 weeks out of one blade, with Harry's I actually got a month out of each blade. I purchased 12 blades from Harry's for $20 USD and Gillette is $45U SD for the same amount. Go with Harry's, thank me later.

    Double Edge Safety razors and choosing your own razor blades is the best and is less irritating. Using proper shaving soaps and prep will help the less experienced shaver still using cartridge razors too. Shaving like our grandpa is also better for the environment as razors last a lifetime and blades have no plastic waste and can be recycled. Not to mention razor blades are much cheaper than cartridge refills.

The blades I purchased from a well known pharmacy chain were sharp but they seemed to be angled wrong. This happened the last 2 times I bought blades at 2 different locations. @@azilius5302 The saftey razor handle will last a very long time (perhaps a lifetime if you get 316 grade stainless steel) and the number of shaves per blade depends on how many passes you do and if you do the whole face (some people do less as they have beards etc). For a cheap DE blade circa 5p then expect it to do around 6 passes (maybe 3 shaves at 2 passes per shave) but for a high end DE blade circa 25p then you might get around 14 passes (maybe 7 shaves at 2 passes per shave). Budget around £10 pa for blades if you but them in bulk from the right places. Regular fresh blades are a lot better then sweating a cartridge too long because it was expensive.

    I find Harry’s and DSC razors aren’t great for sensitive skin. I was using Harry’s for a few months, but then Gillette came out with the SkinGuard and it’s completely blown all other cartridges out of the water for me.
    I have desperately tried to get into DE shaving, but it takes too many passes (with, across and against the grain) to get a close shave, which causes mad skin irritation.
    So, coming back to cartridges I think and, as I said, the SkinGuard is incredible for sensitive skin.

    I think your video is very bias and you are favoring Harry’s I just gave harry a chance after using Gillette (excel and sensor) and wanted to try something new…reluctantly … first a little background, I’ve been using gillette since 1994 and finally in 2024 I bought a harry. And O god right from the first shave I regretted buying Harry’s. The shave itself is very rough, it doesn’t cut well. I get more cuts (as in cut my self). As 6:59 a matter of fact the Gillettes disposables are way much better than a Harry. Harry’s head keeps popping off. There’s no comparison, I’ve personally used a single Gillette blade for over 3 months. All I need to do is make sure my face is wet for atleast wet for 2-3 minutes that’s all a Gillette needs for an Awsome shave. Guys who ever reads this, don’t buys Harry’s. I thought if I had liked Harry’s I’d give a gift for my son who’s going to be shaving. I decided to give him a Gillette.

    So Gillette loses my business because you go to their website and it says you get a free razor and handle to try but you have to buy 30 dollars worth of razors right off the bat. Nope. Harry’s was 11 dollars for the trial. Even cheaper if you go with the basic handle. And you can get replacements everywhere. Gillette’s products look way too confusing. The tech looks good but on Harry’s all the razors are the same. DSC has the same issue with different blades and they are only in some stores.
