Oh Tony! You can tell you are a good Daddy! Only a Father would see a door in a wall and start creating a wonderful world full of stories! I love it! Now I will have to go see that special door when we come next year! Thanks and keep telling those sweet babies stories and history.
As a visitor to Edinburgh, I have often seen these vennels and little lanes, but have never ventured through in case it was a dead end or landed me somewhere I didn't want to go. Thank you, this will save my shoe leather on my next visit! PS Isn't Candlemaker's Row a wonderful name for a street!
We're making notes for our return to Edinburgh in a few months. We've stayed in the New Town on previous trips, and based ourselves in the Highlands for further adventures, too. This will be our first time staying in The Grassmarket. So looking forward to it and to checking out some of the Clan Broonford favourite local, small businesses. -- Sandi & Greg H (Canada)
Me & my man’s pal lived in that really high flat right on the corner of Crichton’s Court, the entrance is on the Canongate though. But another fab shortcut vid.. loved it 💙🏴💙
Mornin Tony, great informative video, that is definitely the best view of the castle 👍Love that bit of Edinburgh where Greyfriars Bobby & the Kirkyard is. Wowww good short cut to Arthurs Seat, i'll keep that in mind because was never sure how to get to it.
My sister and I will be in Edinburgh at the beginning of September (barring any more health issues…wish me luck) and we can’t wait to see all the great thing you show us and tips you share. Super excited. We will be there for 12 days
Tony, Thanks for the great videos. Your shortcut to Cowgate got me thinking about Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus murder mysteries in which he often refers to the mortuary. Would you be able to do an Inspector Rebus tour of Edinburgh sometime that showcases locations in his books?
Love this video! I was reminded of a shortcut from our hotel in Bakehouse close up to Regent road, going past the Loudan restaurant and the Government Building and catching the bottom of Jacob’s Ladder in an underground car tunnel. A quick way to the bus station. Keep these videos coming and thank you so much!
When I visit Edinburgh I always donate blood first. So usually I do your first short cut the other way round and walk from that road down to the steps. It’s such an amazing view of castle no matter what the weather ❤
Hi! I'm not an avid commenter, but... My wife and I have been planning a European trip for a couple of years and your videos have given us soooooo much great information about Edinburgh. We are ready for exploration! Thanks for you wonderful channel! Cheers!
One of my favorite city in the whole world.. Endeed, I'm thinking of coming back there soon.. And climbing up to Arthur's Seat again. I love that city 🌟
Absolutely loved it. I knew about two of them, but not the last one. I didn't go go Arthur's Seat area or Holyrood Palacehouse as I should have. I may next time. I'll try to remember the cuts and the time savers. OK, this is me NOT arguing with you about Red Dead. I love watching the glitches. When I would teach, if the kids did their work we would watch Red Dead glitches on Fridays for 1/2 the class. I had to turn the volume off, but it was fun to make our own comments. Just amazing.
Hi Tony. I've got an idea for a video. How about a wee (pun intended) video as to where the public loos are situated? Useful to everyone but especially people travelling with young children. Mummeee, Dadeee, I need the loo!😮
There really aren’t not that many public toilets in Edinburgh any more, shops like Lidl allow you to use their toilets. Museums have toilets, as do bigger supermarkets.
I am glad I got to know your channel tony because when me and mum went to Edinburgh last week we fully enjoyed our self's and it thanks to you that we got to. See the sights that you showed us many many thanks to you and hope you and your family are well
Hi, just found your vids, really useful stuff thanks. Were heading over in 2 weeks stopping at the Wilde apartments any quick routes to get from there to the meadows? Heading to sugar daddies after another of your vids? Keep up the good work
That was a fun one Tony. I absolutely love these shortcut videos. I kind of know my way around now after coming to your beautiful city a couple of times, so these shortcuts make it even better. Thanks. Will be there next week. Can't wait.
Great Tony good to know all of this, I've learned lots from watching your channel so thank you it's very much appreciated, and write that book if you get the time hope your family are well too 👍
Quick question Tony. When my sister and I are in Edinburgh in September we will have to wear masks as I have cancer. Will we be mocked or harassed at all? What do you think? Thank you for all your great content.
I'm going on a Goddess Tour in 2 weeks. I'm going to tell the girls a wild story about the door in the wall. It will be a story of man who falls in love with a beautiful woman who he sees go through the door. Only to be told by the locals that it's a faery door and if he goes after her he can't come back. Just like Tir na Nog. He was never seen again.

Write the book!
Agreed! I'd buy and read it in a heartbeat! 📚
Like your idea for a story about the door in the Flodden wall.
This video is so sunny and bright...🤪 thanks for walking around and sharing.
That`s great information.I look forward to your videos on Saturday.
Thanks Tony
Wish I'd seen this before I went to Edinburgh! Gives me an excuse to visit your lovely city again.
I’ve been following along using a map. By the time I visit I will know Edinburgh like my own town. Thank you.
Your shortcuts are so helpful, I totally use them when I was in Edinburgh. Great video, Tony!

You really have to write that book, it would make a fantastic childrens story 😀
Or horror story
@@Rain-Peters very Stephen king style 😀

Yeah, next week at this time we start our holiday trip to Edinburgh ... we hope the weather will be stable or better ;)
I hope so too!

Tony you’ve got a jacket on! I thought it was hot in Edinburgh this week? No?
Towards the end of Chambers Street is South Bridge. Great video on Short cuts though. Always wondered where the vennal was viewing the Castle
I know, I realised what I had said when editing but by then there was nothing I could do.
Superb as always Tony and very helpful too. Great stuff 👍
I am glad I got to know your channel tony because when me and mum went to Edinburgh last week we fully enjoyed our self's and it thanks to you that we got to. See the sights that you showed us many many thanks to you and hope you and your family are well
Please make video on prices for coffee and beer etc thanks I will b in edinburg in July thank u
I wish the door in the wall would magically transport me TO Edinburgh! Maybe I need to find its partner here in Ohio. Time for a wander!
I had a similar thought....A magical door would be much easier than going through customs....

Have you any idea what are the buildings on either side of the Vennel steps? Are they homes, offices ir what? I’m curious❤️🏴
What's the difference between a close and a vennel?
Did you look down w college street and say it was a shortcut to hunters square? I’m so confused. What did I miss
But what if ye go thru yon door and come out in Glasgow?!🤔
Quick question Tony. When my sister and I are in Edinburgh in September we will have to wear masks as I have cancer. Will we be mocked or harassed at all? What do you think?
Thank you for all your great content.
Hi, no I don't think so. There are not many, but some people still use mask.
"The Door in the Wall". Aren't most doors in walls?
No they are in planes, trains, cars, some books have doors, floors......
