      Thanks Glen. Putting them together is fun and it can be rewarding when you get a feed like this.

    Awesome work Jungy. I loved this. So informative. Strange rules. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I couldn't use my Pepsi Max bottles for floats. Haha

      Thanks Robbie, It is so much fun. People ignore the rule about the float. You see all sorts of things being used. Best part is I got a great feed from it :-)

    Also we only catch red claw at night time you catch giant freshwater prawns in wet season in the daylight but generally nighttimes the best time to catch so try night mission clear the pots out every two hours you should get shit loads

      Thank you I will give it a try. Recent rain here should mean the redclaw should be on the move. Can't wait to get out and get a few.

    What information do you require on the pots and float, As we are going up there to try for our first red claw. TIA

      Hi Rob, you should have some success. A bit of rain and warm water should have them on the move. Here is a link to the fisheries page with the information www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/boating-fishing/rec-fishing/rules/equipment

      Thanks, I was a bit worried when I saw how much the water had dropped. Certainly effected the fishing, but there seems to be plenty of redclaw at present.

      Yep love them redclaw. I haven't been up that way still. We have been getting prawns down the coast so been bit distracted, bagged out again today.

    What time of the year is best

    • @PTPFishing
      @PTPFishing  3 месяца назад

      The million dollar question. Certainly when the water is warmer, they move around a lot more. They are a tropical climate species.
      You do get them all year round, but the warmer months are best.

    Sad that you have to tie the traps to knowthey havent been checked. I find the same in NSW where they don't just check your traps but just take the lot! Disgusting theft gives me the shits !

      It is sad, especially with the effort that you make to go and try and catch a few yabbies for a feed. It is tough enough without someone feeling they need to check your pots as well. Not great at all.

    Ya never see anyone cooking and eating them

      Catch and cook is not really my thing. I just boil them in really salty water for up to 5 minutes depending on the size of the redclaw. I have even cut the bigger ones in half (length ways) and put garlic butter over the meet and cooked them shell side down on the BBQ. They are beautiful eating.
