I tried this with my brother one night. I thought it was ok, but not deserving of the hype. There’s a lot of great blends out there now, and I don’t have this in my top 5.
well you convinced me. it is 40 dollars here, so was on the fence already with that price for a grain blend, but when the grain spirit isn't even the thing to worry about, pass.
The first time I had this, I thought it just tasted like “whisky.” If you thought about what generic whisky tasted like, it was this. But after a while I’ve begun to appreciate it a bit more and picked up a bit of nuance. It’s not the best blend out there, but for £32 I can’t complain. Made some cocktails with it too and it made things a bit more interesting than just using bourbon .
Always great to catch up with your reviews Gav! Unfortunately there is no official import of Adelphi to Brazil, but I'll try to buy one of those while abroad...and maybe compare it with Thompson's Bros, and NSS blends too.
Thanks for reviewing this one Gavin. Haven't seen this one around here in NL. And haven't had the chance to try it otherwise. Always interesting to hear your honest opinion. Slàinte mhath
Gav ..just stumbled upon your channel , As you say the whisky receives many plaudits , but like you I personally cannot see what all the fuss is about and also identify with the strange charred / burn finish Not for me I have to say , It’ll be mixed with other whiskies I own to hopefully concoct something a tad more palatable . Well done sir ..very honest ..as they say , I’ll be back 👍
It's getting difficult to find at the price suggested. Biggest p*** taker has to be Hard To Find Whisky at £35.95 plus £5.95 delivery. I refuse to give these robbers my hard earned cash.
I've only tried a couple samples of this, it's average. It's not bad, but it's not up to the hype. I'm glad you've not been caught up on the hype-train. WHISKY BIN! I much prefer the SRV5 from TB. Cheers Gav.
your honest opinion is the most important thing ;;;
A great antidote to the hype. Glad you can be so honest.

recently picked this one up for $33. A nice simple blend, certainly beats out the competitors at its price. Cheers!
You’re honest reviews is what matter most. Everyone palate is different and tastes are subjective.

Love a good blend, this is an “ok blend”
Appreciate this honest review! Would have been easy to suck up to the online wisky gang.

Love the honesty. Don’t apologize for it, I don’t prefer this blend either
Tell it the way it is… thanks Gav
Cheers Gav, appreciate your view. I've ordered this and am intrigued to try it.

Interesting good to have another opinion

I’ve not tried this one yet. Good to hear your thoughts on it.
I like it, but no problem with someone not liking it.
well done Gav, i tried it and its decent, but its defo on the Ardnamurchan hype train....i paid £29 but i would not pay anymore....cheers fella
The hype is mental!
Charlie McLean , I believe , said his favourite whisky is JW black label…is there any resemblance at all to black label ?
Gav you are honest and this doesn’t work for you. Maybe a drop of water 💧? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Ciao 👋 S.

It's not bad but Thompson Bros TB/BSW 6 is much better IMHO.
Totally Agree, I think we are particularly spoiled with the TB blend, I think it’s raised my blend expectations far too high now….

Whisky groupthink is definitely a thing.
