I come to this live version a lot. Beautifully sung, he lets the words tell the story but his heart and soul are in the sorrow and regret but also a love that endures. It’s a rare song.

It isn't a bad version but it isn't even close to being the best! Both the original by Richard Thompson and Mad Dog Mcrea are way better. Of the 2 I prefer the Mad Dog version.
Christymoores version is better imo. Still a oodles version

My dad loved this song, it breaks me listening to it.
No genre or any other music reaches deeper into soul than Irish music, it amplifies humanity and the melancholy is truly felt in every song.

l remember the Fruit picking in Maidstone , Kent , l lived there , all the Irish College. ☘️🇨🇮 Students would come to work for the Summer months, Apples, Hops, Pears, Plums, and Gooseberries, and Strawberries, we had it all , was known as the Garden of Kent.
