Will definitely get around to it. It’s a classic bit overplayed but have lots of requests for it. If I’d a Euro for every time I sang that song I’d be out in Monaco on a yacht 😂😂
Instantly fell in love with this voice and the music. I'm a Scotsman but my kin come from mayo on the west coast. This sound does something to my spirit that words cannot discribe. Simply outstanding Dan McCabe 👏🍀💚
Same here mo chara 🏴+🇮🇪 .. born in Scotland but my kin are from Ramelton, Co Donegal + Derry . This song strikes a chord deep in my soul as if we recognise our ancestors thro' music 🎵 💚 🎸

At Oranmore in the county Galway One pleasant evening in the month of May I spied a damsel, she was young and handsome And her beauty took my breath away She worn no jewelry, nor costly diamonds No paint nor powder, no none at all But she worn a bonnet with ribbons on it And 'round her shoulders was the Galway shawl We kept on walking she kept on talking 'Till her fathers cottage came in to view She said Oh young man Oh wont you come in and play, to please him, 'The Foggy Dew' She sat me down beside the hearthstone I could see her father he was six feet tall And soon her mother, had the kettle humming All I could think of, was the Galway shawl She worn no jewelry, nor costly diamonds No paint nor powder, no none at all But she worn a bonnet with ribbons on it And 'round her shoulders was the Galway shawl I played, 'The Black Bird', 'The Stacks of Barley' 'Rodney's Glory' and 'The Foggy Dew' She sang each note like an Irish linnet And her eyes they tear up,her eyes of blue 'Twas early, early, all in the morning I hit the road for old Donegal She said, 'goodbye sir', she cried and kissed me But my heart remain with the Galway shawl She worn no jewelry, nor costly diamonds No paint nor powder, no none at all But she worn a bonnet with ribbons on it And 'round her shoulders was the Galway shawl And 'round her shoulders was the galway shawl

I love this song this was the last song my Dad sung he died 4 day's after singing this song in the local Hall back 1983 he was only 55 years old when he died suddenly thankfully we have him singing it on video. You are fantastic singer and a great talent wish you all success you deserve it .
That's beyond fortunate to have it on video. Not like today when there are 84 videos from 18 angles of a lad singing in a pub. Hope you have that video backed up to DVD or some digital format!
Dan has a rough edgy voice which is just perfect for this style of music but even more important is the fact the song is sung with passion and emotion, thats what gives his voice such character
This song feels so so soothing to me just feels like I'm hame ,😊My grandfather was from the Basque country and my other grandfather was from Ireland I was born in Scotland and still live here I looked up my ancestry and found out I was more Irish and Scottish than Spanish and I'm so proud to have Irish and Scottish heritage and very proud to have that little but very important Basque blood .
My Grandfather used to sing this song to my Mother when she was young. Now he’s past and gone she sang it to me and my brothers and sisters when we were young too. You make it timeless Dan. Thank you.
Beautiful rendition Dan. Absolutely haunting the lyrics of this past year and remembering the love lost but also hearing my Nan singing this years ago. Love it my friend.
