I too am in recovery from drug addiction- Brother Halverson your description of those who do not repent even if they want to describes perfectly the bonds of addiction. When I was in full blown addiction I was visited by one of THE 3. I have no doubt in my mind of Gods love and the Light of Jesus Christ to reach the deepest pits of hell and shine that light for us to follow- and thus began my journey into recovery. It was not an instantaneous thing. It’s taken many attempts and been very hard work but that experience has continued to be a light and filled me with hope and certainty that there is a way out. I pray my testimony can be a hope to others who are seeking to break the bondage of addiction that IT IS possible and probable that you will succeed if you are willing to do the work ❤

Thinking back to my mission, 45 years ago, I was called to serve in the Brazil, Rio de Janeiro mission. We couldn’t get our visas approved so we served in various statewide missions. I served in the Boston, Mass mission. After 3 months serving there, we found that our visas were approved. They sent us back to the MTC in Provo for 2 weeks and then to Brazil. Likewise, for us missionaries, it was like experiencing the (Creation, Fall) (Sweet, Bitter) twice. We were greenie missionaries again. Some of us didn’t have any problem with the adjustment, but some really struggled, and a few went home early. Until now, I never really thought of it the way you explained it. Thank you! Jared last week's study was so important for me. As an old but young Bishop I was so AWED in chapters 4 and 5 so much so that it brought me to tears and that is not easy to do for me. My wife of over 40 years said she has NEVER seen me get so emotional by the feeling I had studying chapters 4 and 5. I said to her afterwards that I wished I could share some of this with the Ward. Well be caredful what you wish for because one of our speakers for sacrament meeting had a family emergency and couldn't make it so guess who got to share a few things? I can't thank you enough for the time my wife and I along with my twin brother and his wife get to spend with you each morning for our scripture study. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I’m not married yet I was kneeling at the altar w/ a sister who was also at the sealing session . She was pretty! We were asked to kneel at the altar & Sister F was weeping & so I took my clean handkerchief & wiped her tears 😭 I felt inspired to help ! A lot of memorable things occur in the temple every time!
I was excited all year to learn about the Book of Revelation. I had been looking forward to learning about all the gory details most of us are fascinated by. But after these lessons, I see it differently. It is about Christ and the Father. It’s about their power and triumph. It is about hope. Not doom and gloom. This has been a paradigm shift. Thank you.

I love this great book. It's the only book I have read through multiple times. I have been waiting for years. Ever since discovering your channel for you to break down this book. The perspective that each seal is a dispensation and the horse men are those periods is something that I've never heard before so I have none study and pondering to do.
I listen to a lot of very good Come Follow Me podcasts & I love these - Jared Halverson is a favorite. He is knowledgeable & has a great way with words. And so many good gems. Best in class.

Thank you for teaching the scriptures so skillfully that it makes it easy to understand. I finial understand Revelation which made no sense the way it was written, To many animals and numbers that loses anyone before they make a dent in understanding the Book.. It shows what a great teacher can do with words, which makes the scriptures dance with life.
1:26:49 Chapter 8:3-6 had me thinking about when the first presidency authorized and announced the online ability for Temple patrons to be able to place and submit names on the Temple prayer rolls online. Of a very significant truth, the numbers of names submitted for the prayers of the righteous to ascend to the Throne in our temple prayer circles increased dramatically when this system was put in place on August 25th 2020. -Kirk Hilton

I have been thinking about the seal of God in the forehead. The forehead is on the highest part of the body and also where the crown would lie. To me having a forehead that is sealed by the Lord symbolizes one who has been able to faithfully consecrate their mind to holiness by remembering the blood of the lamb in their thoughts and reflecting that in their behavior. That is how you become holy to the Lord by remembering the Sacramental wedding feast and communing with him in this celestial banquet. When your mind has removed it's desire to think about sin then you have overcome the world and have become leak proof. Your head then is able to be sealed off, sanctified and set apart from the world to become a fully consecrated instrument or servant in the right hand of God to gather Israel. When your mind has become as elevated as the mountain of the Lord then you can stand on the immovable mountain of the Lord, sounding the trumpet and singing the new song of redeeming love inviting all nations to the throne room. Thankyou Brother Halverson for elevating our thoughts and minds to eternal and forever praise to both the Father and Son! Praise and honor and Glory be to the Father and Son forever and ever! It take many many people and couples from Carbon, Emery, Sanpete, Sevier, Juan, Millard and maybe more to staff the Manti temple. It's a calling to go to help. Some people have to pay for an apartment and stay several days a week. It has been this way for as long as I can remember. And I am old. :-)

They are inspiring, uplifting as well as educational, BUT I only started studying with you since the beginning of the Doctrine and Covenants and even then I did not get my Journal Editions until you started the Old Testament. Deseret Book publishes a set of four books that covers the four standard works. Each book, subtitled a Journal Edition, has wide ruled margins for adding notes. When that is not sufficient, I glue into the binding an extra sheet of 40 lb paper with tiny drops of super glue along it edge. 😊
I listen to a christian radio station. Someone made an extremely interesting observation. It was this: From the time of the end of WW2 until well into the 1960's to 80's, there were more Christians (and others who believe in God) than there were non-believers. That has not happened in any part of known history. Pretty much ever. My take on that in regards to what you are talking about is that silence in the form of peace makes sense from that perspective. 02:19:00 I took Rev 10:9 to mean that as long as he held it inside him it would be bitter to him, that he would have no choice but to regurgitate it which would bring sweet relief, as he shared it and acted on it.
When you watch horror films whether they be fiction or non fiction you are opening a portal to invite unclean spirits into your space. Our beautiful President and Prophet says "Watch and listen to things that are pleasing to Heavenly Father". This is something we all need to be doing especially as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We have our symbolism and so does the adversary. The adversaries symbolism is in our faces every day, through music and movies industry as well as the fashion and the social media. We should be following our dearly beloved prophet and stop listening to and watching worldly music videos etc. We have beautiful music that glorifies our Father in Heaven that speak of our Saviour.
I have never been able to tolerate man’s inhumanity to man. I stay away from scary or action movies that put me in fear or suspense. As a child, even the old scary shows terrified me and they were so fake. Although I try to stay focused on the joy of the Savior’s coming, I still sometimes feel frieghtened at the coming persecutions. I pray to be like Moroni when he said, …and I Moroni will not deny the Christ.”
When talking about the little book for John. My thought went to Patriarchal Blessings. We have the opportunity to have a little book of scripture. It is a mission call for us all to fulfill on this earth. Do we consume our patriarchal blessing like John, or do we tend to just nibble on the words every now and then?
I do you think it's about 1/3 because can you focus on the good and you really really look around most people are good. But I have always been taught by the church that the 1/3 is not literal but just means a portion. I suppose we can never ever know the true portion. We cannot fully know the heart and mind of any human whether they're good or not good, and the reasons behind it. There are many many people who seem so wonderful on the outside, but maybe not so on the inside, also so many who might not ever had the chance to know of God and understand it.
1:01:01... "The mark in the forehead, you will be sealed up for salvation instead of destruction...." Brother Halverson, When I received my own Endowment in 1983 in the Provo Temple, ( I was at the MTC for my 2 months of language training before my mission) during the Anointing part of the Initiatories, when the ordinance worker placed the oil on my forehead, it burned. It burned for a few seconds then the heat faded away as the Initiatory continued. For years I have asked priesthood leaders what that meant and have found no one who could answer. This sounds like an answer, to me. Have you heard of anything like that before? Do you have any idea what it could mean?
Sounds like a very personal experience that you can treasure and ponder on... A tender mercy from Heavenly Father for your own message of love and testimony, from Him. It would be very difficult for anyone to interpret your experience as it is unique and tailor-made for you! He knows you and He can reveal it to you in due time. There was only one tiny spanish branch in the entire mission. It was in New Orleans proper and we served there the entire mission. It was a very interesting experience.
I should clarify "interesting experience". The area was very hard. We had no Baptisms and there is a lot of dark powers at work there....KKK, black magic, voodu... That sort of thing. I am sensitive to spiritual feelings and the darkness was so palpable it was scary. So that's why I said it was interesting.
Certainly military style helicopter. Imagine them trying to describe that I can't imagine how confusing that would be looking at any aircraft from John's view, knowing that only bugs and birds and things fly not people
Something I thought of recently was I found a new love for the idea of 1/3 :)… in terms of those cast out. It’s not exact… but tells us something …. It’s not most:) It’s not all. It’s not most of them. It’s not half. In talking about martyrdom and persecution I think of the Children of Israel now. Fair daughter's raped to death, babies beheaded , whole families slaughtered in front of each other. When reading Revelations that it is not for the LDS people but for all of God's children and followers of Christ.
1:57 I believe that we need the "symbol glasses" for some of Revelation, if not all, but I also think that much of it is literal. I think the 'Great Earthquake' will be like the signs of Jesus' death. Helaman 14: 20-28 Why else would The Church be fortifying old temples with Earthquake retrofitting.

Rev 9:5 torment of a scorpion. The most common family of scorpions in modern day Turkey is the Buthidae family. Their venom produces intense local pain by rapid depolarizing nerve cells that can require a long time to resolve. Also there can be a rapid release of catecholamines that can cause myocardial or heart damage and severe high blood pressure which can be fatal. This reminds me of John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe in me."
Just a tidbit.....the 7th seal has already been opened. The Prophet said this when dedicating the Palmyra Temple. Also. Isaiah 65:6 it talks about desolation being poured out during the seventh seal and preceding the second coming of Christ. So, we are in the seventh seal and the millennium will start with the coming of the Lord at His coming in Glory. You said that the seventh seal started at the second coming which is incorrect. Hope this makes sense. Church manuals also, say we are in the seventh seal.
from year zero to 1000 years after year zero is referred to as 1000 AD...why do you refer to it as 1000 years into the common era...do you refer to years before Christ as Before the Common Era (BCE) what happened to Before Christ (BC)?.

A simple explanation of why a fire cannot be lit is a due to the oxygen level being lower than roughly 14%. We can still live and breathe, but fire can’t at that level. The question is why plants and trees not producing sufficient oxygen to keep the level above the normal 19%?
This has probably been dissected before, but I find it interesting that there are only 4 horsemen but 7 seals. Of course, when John had this vision, only 4 millennia had already come and gone. I wonder what the color of the final 3 horsemen are. Interesting, not essential 😉
I have a daughter who converted to Jehovah witnesses and she really believes that only that 144,000 will be saved and live with God and Jesus but they also believe that they will continue to live on the earth as they are now in a perfected State and have a beautiful life here on Earth and there's no amount of discussing things with her that changes her beliefs. She is perfectly okay with not living with God.😢

Normally I'm not one to go negative here, but clearly Bro Jared went off the rails a bit. The figures of the horses do not represent things that happened in the 1st thousand years, the second horse the 2nd thousand years etc, Here is what the Prophet Joseph Smith said about this.: "those things which John saw in heaven had no allusion to anything that had been on the earth previous to that time, because they were the representation of “things which must shortly come to pass,” and not of what has already transpired. John saw beasts that had to do with things on the earth, but not in past ages. The beasts which John saw had to devour the inhabitants of the earth in days to come. TPJS 290 So the things John saw depict events that will unfold when the seal is opened in the future. We can see then, that the opening of the seals is made to reveal to us a sequence of events that will happen in the last days. These seals will be opened in the last days. At the opening of each seal certain prophetic events will take place. As those seals are opened, John sees prophetic events; the white horse represents something that's going to happen on the earth when the first seal is opened. The red horse represents something that's going to happen on earth in the way of judgement and of the cleansing of Zion, in the way of the cleansing of the earth when the second seal is opened, and so on down through. There are four horses - these are the four horsemen of the apocolypse. They represent four major eras of judgement leading up to the final cleansing of the earth.

1:26:49 Chapter 8:3-6 had me thinking about when the first presidency authorized and announced the online ability for Temple patrons to be able to place and submit names on the Temple prayer rolls online. Of a very significant truth, the numbers of names submitted for the prayers of the righteous to ascend to the Throne in our temple prayer circles increased dramatically when this system was put in place on August 25th 2020. -Kirk Hilton

Wow! That's a tough one!
I have been thinking about the seal of God in the forehead. The forehead is on the highest part of the body and also where the crown would lie. To me having a forehead that is sealed by the Lord symbolizes one who has been able to faithfully consecrate their mind to holiness by remembering the blood of the lamb in their thoughts and reflecting that in their behavior. That is how you become holy to the Lord by remembering the Sacramental wedding feast and communing with him in this celestial banquet. When your mind has removed it's desire to think about sin then you have overcome the world and have become leak proof. Your head then is able to be sealed off, sanctified and set apart from the world to become a fully consecrated instrument or servant in the right hand of God to gather Israel. When your mind has become as elevated as the mountain of the Lord then you can stand on the immovable mountain of the Lord, sounding the trumpet and singing the new song of redeeming love inviting all nations to the throne room. Thankyou Brother Halverson for elevating our thoughts and minds to eternal and forever praise to both the Father and Son! Praise and honor and Glory be to the Father and Son forever and ever!

It take many many people and couples from Carbon, Emery, Sanpete, Sevier, Juan, Millard and maybe more to staff the Manti temple. It's a calling to go to help. Some people have to pay for an apartment and stay several days a week. It has been this way for as long as I can remember. And I am old. :-)
Brother Halverson, I am truly grateful for these lessons. They are inspiring, uplifting as well as educational, BUT I only started studying with you since the beginning of the Doctrine and Covenants and even then I did not get my Journal Editions until you started the Old Testament. I want to continue to review your lessons and not end this incredible experience. How can I do that? What are you going to do next year? Thank you for your sacrifice.

What is the "Journal Editions" you mentioned?
Deseret Book publishes a set of four books that covers the four standard works. Each book, subtitled a Journal Edition, has wide ruled margins for adding notes. When that is not sufficient, I glue into the binding an extra sheet of 40 lb paper with tiny drops of super glue along it edge. 😊
I listen to a christian radio station. Someone made an extremely interesting observation. It was this:
From the time of the end of WW2 until well into the 1960's to 80's, there were more Christians (and others who believe in God) than there were non-believers. That has not happened in any part of known history. Pretty much ever.
My take on that in regards to what you are talking about is that silence in the form of peace makes sense from that perspective.

We have our symbolism and so does the adversary. The adversaries symbolism is in our faces every day, through music and movies industry as well as the fashion and the social media.
We should be following our dearly beloved prophet and stop listening to and watching worldly music videos etc.
We have beautiful music that glorifies our Father in Heaven that speak of our Saviour.
I have never been able to tolerate man’s inhumanity to man. I stay away from scary or action movies that put me in fear or suspense. As a child, even the old scary shows terrified me and they were so fake. Although I try to stay focused on the joy of the Savior’s coming, I still sometimes feel frieghtened at the coming persecutions. I pray to be like Moroni when he said, …and I Moroni will not deny the Christ.”
When talking about the little book for John. My thought went to Patriarchal Blessings. We have the opportunity to have a little book of scripture. It is a mission call for us all to fulfill on this earth. Do we consume our patriarchal blessing like John, or do we tend to just nibble on the words every now and then?
This is crazy and numbers are consuming me but yet I have no idea but from dreams where they come!
I do you think it's about 1/3 because can you focus on the good and you really really look around most people are good. But I have always been taught by the church that the 1/3 is not literal but just means a portion.
I suppose we can never ever know the true portion.
We cannot fully know the heart and mind of any human whether they're good or not good, and the reasons behind it.
There are many many people who seem so wonderful on the outside, but maybe not so on the inside, also so many who might not ever had the chance to know of God and understand it.

1:01:01... "The mark in the forehead, you will be sealed up for salvation instead of destruction...." Brother Halverson, When I received my own Endowment in 1983 in the Provo Temple, ( I was at the MTC for my 2 months of language training before my mission) during the Anointing part of the Initiatories, when the ordinance worker placed the oil on my forehead, it burned. It burned for a few seconds then the heat faded away as the Initiatory continued. For years I have asked priesthood leaders what that meant and have found no one who could answer. This sounds like an answer, to me. Have you heard of anything like that before? Do you have any idea what it could mean?
Sounds like a very personal experience that you can treasure and ponder on... A tender mercy from Heavenly Father for your own message of love and testimony, from Him.
It would be very difficult for anyone to interpret your experience as it is unique and tailor-made for you!
He knows you and He can reveal it to you in due time. But it sounds like He may have done that through this lesson, but only you can know that for sure.

@@curtiste3235 Hi Curtis. Thanks for the perspective. I appreciate your take on it. Gives me food for more thought. I served Spanish in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. There was only one tiny spanish branch in the entire mission. It was in New Orleans proper and we served there the entire mission. It was a very interesting experience.
I should clarify "interesting experience". The area was very hard. We had no Baptisms and there is a lot of dark powers at work there....KKK, black magic, voodu... That sort of thing. I am sensitive to spiritual feelings and the darkness was so palpable it was scary. So that's why I said it was interesting.
Certainly military style helicopter. Imagine them trying to describe that I can't imagine how confusing that would be looking at any aircraft from John's view, knowing that only bugs and birds and things fly not people
I don't need the graphic descriptions of the deaths of the martyrs. Had to mute that passage.

In talking about martyrdom and persecution I think of the Children of Israel now. Fair daughter's raped to death, babies beheaded , whole families slaughtered in front of each other. When reading Revelations that it is not for the LDS people but for all of God's children and followers of Christ.
1:57 I believe that we need the "symbol glasses" for some of Revelation, if not all, but I also think that much of it is literal. I think the 'Great Earthquake' will be like the signs of Jesus' death. Helaman 14: 20-28 Why else would The Church be fortifying old temples with Earthquake retrofitting.

Rev 9:5 torment of a scorpion. The most common family of scorpions in modern day Turkey is the Buthidae family. Their venom produces intense local pain by rapid depolarizing nerve cells that can require a long time to resolve. Also there can be a rapid release of catecholamines that can cause myocardial or heart damage and severe high blood pressure which can be fatal. This reminds me of John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe in me."

Just a tidbit.....the 7th seal has already been opened. The Prophet said this when dedicating the Palmyra Temple. Also. Isaiah 65:6 it talks about desolation being poured out during the seventh seal and preceding the second coming of Christ. So, we are in the seventh seal and the millennium will start with the coming of the Lord at His coming in Glory. You said that the seventh seal started at the second coming which is incorrect. Hope this makes sense. Church manuals also, say we are in the seventh seal.

All miracles are merely scientific facts that we don't understand yet.
A simple explanation of why a fire cannot be lit is a due to the oxygen level being lower than roughly 14%. We can still live and breathe, but fire can’t at that level. The question is why plants and trees not producing sufficient oxygen to keep the level above the normal 19%?
This has probably been dissected before, but I find it interesting that there are only 4 horsemen but 7 seals. Of course, when John had this vision, only 4 millennia had already come and gone. I wonder what the color of the final 3 horsemen are. Interesting, not essential 😉
I also have to think that as each horsemen arrive, they never leave. Up until now, my thoughts assumed that they did, but now I think otherwise.
I have a daughter who converted to Jehovah witnesses and she really believes that only that 144,000 will be saved and live with God and Jesus but they also believe that they will continue to live on the earth as they are now in a perfected State and have a beautiful life here on Earth and there's no amount of discussing things with her that changes her beliefs. She is perfectly okay with not living with God.😢

Normally I'm not one to go negative here, but clearly Bro Jared went off the rails a bit. The figures of the horses do not represent things that happened in the 1st thousand years, the second horse the 2nd thousand years etc, Here is what the Prophet Joseph Smith said about this.:
"those things which John saw in heaven had no allusion to anything that had been on the earth previous to that time, because they were the representation of “things which must shortly come to pass,” and not of what has already transpired. John saw beasts that had to do with things on the earth, but not in past ages. The beasts which John saw had to devour the inhabitants of the earth in days to come. TPJS 290
So the things John saw depict events that will unfold when the seal is opened in the future. We can see then, that the opening of the seals is made to reveal to us a sequence of events that will happen in the last days. These seals will be opened in the last days. At the opening of each seal certain prophetic events will take place.
As those seals are opened, John sees prophetic events; the white horse represents something that's going to happen on the earth when the first seal is opened. The red horse represents something that's going to happen on earth in the way of judgement and of the cleansing of Zion, in the way of the cleansing of the earth when the second seal is opened, and so on down through. There are four horses - these are the four horsemen of the apocolypse. They represent four major eras of judgement leading up to the final cleansing of the earth.
