My friends have gone through an awful lot over the past few years or so: Shane (an ex royal marine) was discharged in 2012 after suffering frostbite from a training exercise and a few years later was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. After three years of trying for a baby with IVF, Sarah gave birth to their daughter Evelyn in August 2017 and by some miracle in January 2020 Sarah gave birth to premature twins Lily and Florence! Thankfully the twins are now at home with them, but these are difficult times with the county in lockdown due to Covid-19. Or a major triad with the bass tone raised a semitone. An example would be B/C its like a diminished scale over it iirc
Wouldn’t it be simpler to identify them as diminished major 7 chords?
All the tones in each of those chords find a home in the same octatonic scale
Dim major 7th according to Mark Levine's book "Jazz Piano". Always good to hear other theories though.
