LOVE our Gazelle T4. Just used it on a 4 day camping trip up around Independence, CA this past weekend. Easy setup, tons of room, and so easy to break down.
Congrats on 1k! I can't wait to start getting my rig all ready for camping, and great that we have the same vehicle so I know what works and what doesn't in relation to my car! I appreciate the real world reviews!
Nice tent. I use a ShiftPod Mini 3 for my adventures. Takes about 1 minute to pop up and have it ready. Another minute or so to zip in the floor liner and you’re set.
So, really, how capable is the RAV4? Been looking at 4Runners / Tacomas, but the cost is nuts. But. Dedicated 4x4. How does it do on thick beach sand? Mud?
Mine has handled well in the sand-it definitely has struggled in sticky mud. One thing to keep in mind is driving capability/experience will far outweigh a vehicles dedicated 4x4. There’s plenty of stuck 4Runner/Tacoma driven by inexperienced drivers videos out there to illustrate this.
I have a rav4 this next year I’m growing my platforms and then I want to focus on more traveling next year f.. so I’ll probably start buying things little by little
Can you please share more details on how you upgraded the bumper with the Toyota spelled out? And where did you re-position the adaptive cruise control radar?
Love this video! I’m looking at a rav 4 for my next car but I was curious could you share tips or do a video on how you travel with your dog on long trips or gear for him? Thanks!!
Great idea for a video-I will have to put something together soon. But to provide a quick answer some of the things I always have for alpha is: 1) a tether clipped to his harness from the car seat anchors in the back seat so he doesn’t jump up front. 2) a 25ft cable lead to be able to tie him up at camp and provide him enough slack to still explore 3) his essentials like food and treats-and a couple bowls for food/water. I try to bring him his toys but he’s usually always so excited to be outside that he completely ignores them and would rather dig holes lol
Just bought 19 Rav4 Adventure too. Really excited!!! I don’t know how to drive off road though. So maybe it will be really good if you make some video on driving off-road tips and how to prep the car maybe??? Great thanks ahead! Keep up the good work
Check out the rest of my channel and you should be able to find the info you’re looking for. Here is a video I made on some off-roading basics: ruclips.net/video/hrZwkTKdqro/видео.html
I own a 2015 Toyota RAV4 LE - AWD. Would love to get some recommendations for equipment and gear. Now that I’ve retired from the Army I’d love to get out in to the Colorado nature environment.
Nice Gazelle tent. I'm sure to keep that in mind if I decide to upgrade from my 3-man Northface Stormbreak 3 ground dome tent for me, my son and Malinois. Question, since you carry a full spare, do you use your spare tire well compartment for anything?
It’s used for extra storage for things like a mechanic tools, RG1000 battery charger, bungee straps, first aid kit and supplies you might need for the car. Whereas the stuff in roof box are things and supplies for camping/overlanding.
I have a hot lava TRav4 seriously that's the name of the color of my car lol . I have tee per style tent that I absolutely love I got it at Wal-Mart 7 person tent very cool
Beautiful dog! I thought the 2019+ could fit a full-size spare in the spare tire well (at least the 17" rims with factory tires as shown by AlexOnAutos). Are your tires bigger than average?
@@DannyRocksteady Thanks. I'll probably just run stock size Nokian WRG4s, Michelin Cross-Climates or perhaps LTX M/S for a bit more dirt track ready but highway pleasant. Thinking of the LE with the regular AWD system. Mild and cheaper.
Damnnn it!!! Brother your video sums up my dream all along. I hope I can dm you for some help or question starting next year. Just saving up some cash for mods and set up soon.
How is having your dog in the back? I get so nervous with mine scratching the leather by accident on my Rav 4 TRD off-road. I like having the back seats down and having my dog laying on the mats with his dog bed... lol
The seats are not leather--they are soft-tec. They are extremely durable and easy to clean so I honestly have no reservations about letting alpha do his thing back there.
Lots of resources online such as BLM maps, Gaia maps, AllTrails.com, etc.-you just gotta learn how to read topographical maps and understand what’s public versus private land.
Looks like a great site and you’ve got the rig set up nicely for camping. Where were you in relation to Flagstaff? I was on Humphreys a couple weeks ago and made VHF radio contact with a guy camping with his family. From what I could tell there is camping all over out there
@@DannyRocksteady i noticed from your more current videos that you switched to the swing out tire carrier. Were you not happy with the drop down? I’m debating between the two…
@@GalVaran-gl3pt drop down carrier was definitely more of a budget option at the time-swing out was what I always wanted so I could mount a table and things like that. My recommendation buy once, cry once haha
Cigarette port works too but you need to factor cooling time-I’ll typically run it from the car port on the drive to the destination then run off battery once the car is parked and we are setup.
@@DannyRocksteady perfect my friend! Thank you very much!! So what i understand, the cigarrete port takes more time to cool as compared with the battery.
@@robertoavalosjr.2529 no, it’ll take the same amount of time. What I meant is that if you’re making a quick trip or something and plugging it into the cigarette port, the fridge might not be cooled enough (so pre-cool it before heading out).
@@robertoavalosjr.2529 thanks! I’ve got another fridge video lined up for this week so stay tuned-the rockpals in this fridge didn’t live up to my expectations!

I love it when Toyota people hang with the Subie gang. They own 20% of each other for a reason!

Awesome set up! Would love to see how you pack away from a fully set up site.
all four side first, walk in and push up. probably figured that out by now
Yeah it was literally my first time using the gazelle and I went in without any reference of how it was done-much easier to deploy now!
@@DannyRocksteady I knew only because ice fishing hubs are the same mechanically. Trial and error taught me doing all the side first is the easiest.
You should look at the Iceco fridge. We have the VL45 and the same Jackery as you. I can keep it at 38º for well over 24 hours. :)
I will have to check it out

How much ground clearance does the blue Rav4 have?
Would the Gazelle tent fit inside your Rav4?
Does the tent come with stakes to keep it in place on a bad weather day?
