      @@JubyJub Hi. I've been using it for 2 years with no problems, jumped right in and never had a bad reaction. However, this is not the case for everyone, some people can break out (either from the high% niacinamide or the zinc), so I'd say the best thing is to mix 1-2 drops into your moisturizer for the first couple weeks and see how you like it.
      Overall it's a safe ingredient and that is a safe formulation, the worst thing that can happen is a little breakout but it goes away if you stop it. It's not like an acid or retinol or even vitamin C, it regulates sebum and it's soothing to the skin. Don't worry. 😊

But no improvement in my enlarged pores.

      @@supritaroy7279 Yeah, I have very large pores and I haven't seen a difference in that aspect either. The truth is, we have to be realistic; pore size is mostly genetic and it's not gonna change with any product, the most we can do is try to keep the pores clean so they don't look even larger. Niacinamide can help because it reduces sebum production and, by extent, the amount of sebum clogging our pores, but it doesn't do miracles... unfortunately. 😅

    • @Suzanne4415
      @Suzanne4415 3 года назад +1

      @@JubyJub Niacinamide would be a super low concern active, I think they're more thinking of acids and retinols.
      My experience with putting 10+% on my face is I seemed to break out more & get some irritation. With less it's fine - underwhelming, but, fine :) 4% seems to be a sweet spot in studies. I'd try 2 drops of the serum on damp face, quickly followed by your moisturizer, cut back if u get issues.

    "People with darker skin don't need sunscreen" I hate everything about this! Your skin only takes longer to get damaged by the sun because it has more melanin to absorb the UV rays but that doesn't mean its not harmful! Many people still think they're good without it (which is so stupid because that's actually the most important step of a skin care routine when it comes to health!)

    • @debayeuxchats5607

      I've had people with darker skin tell me this so often, and it baffles me every time. I've seen people with dark skin have obvious tan lines during the summer. If you have tan lines, that means your skin is acknowledging there's damaging rays coming through! Help it!

    • @hannaelawil8793
      @hannaelawil8793 3 года назад +51

      In all honesty, you can’t blame Hyram or other influencers for not using chemical sunscreens. Hyram’s even said that he’s not sure if chemical UV filters are bad for coral reefs, especially because there are so many studies that contradict each other. Some scientists say that chemical sunscreens damage coral reefs, other scientists say that they don’t. Hyram said that just to be safe and until there is actual proof that chemical sunscreens aren’t bad for coral reefs, he wants to avoid them just to be safe. You also have to know that he lives in Hawaii, so he wants to be especially careful AND Hawaii is going to ban chemical sunscreens in 2021, because they’re “damaging” to coral reefs. If his state is completely banning chemical sunscreens because they’re apparently harmful, it would make sense as to why he thinks they’re damaging. Not to mention, a lot of newer sunscreens have recently started labeling them as “coral reel safe” which makes it seem even more like there are sunscreens that aren’t coral reef friendly.

    • @jlt001928

    • @icystorm9968
      @icystorm9968 Год назад +3

      @@hannaelawil8793 that's a very specific example. Also, a lot of skincare and makeup is labelled with all kinds of stuff. Eg- free from petrolatum (it's totally fine), free from Mercury (it shouldn't be in the product regardless of the label). Also, there's a way bigger narrative of chemical sunscreens somehow being bad or inferior when in actuality it's the opposite. Demonizing chemical sunscreens does people with a darker skin tone, such as myself, a disservice. I simply can't use a mineral sunscreen without it leaving a horrible cast on me and most tinted sunscreen don't run deep enough. I'm sorry but telling people not to use chemical sunscreens when for many of us it's the only option is not justifiable.

    Remember: the Environmental Footprint (or under other names) was designed by industry to make environmental protection an individual thing; you personally will never reuse enough to make a difference. 100 people reducing won’t make a difference-not while industry goes on destroying and polluting. A mere 100 companies have contributed to 71% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Not to mention industrial factors like chemical pollution, deforestation/habitat loss, water waste, etc. All the CEOs, politicians, World Bank officials know this too. They talk about it, and talk about how they really don’t care about the planet or people, as long as they can make money. Right now, the wealthiest are planning for how they are going to live and maintain their wealth when climate change really becomes catastrophic and we lose access to secure water etc. They know they made this problem and continue to make it worse, and just want to find ways they can stay on top when their actions kill everything.

      As far as the evolution myth goes, I think people got it backwards. People evolved to have lighter skin as they migrated further away from the equator due to the need for vitamin D. Since people wear more clothes in colder climates, they get less sun exposure and so less vitamin D from the sun. Lighter skin evolved as a way to absorb more vitamin D in the limited time that sun exposure was possible.

    I am soo confused. First I’m gonna try not to cuss but I just went last week and returned all of my Chemical SPF to CVS. Then repurchased Mineral SPF. All of these doctors on RUclips saying it’s better for hyperpigmentation especially in African Americans. Now I have all of these mineral SPF that make me look ghostly and DONT blend at all, to find out that was all bull???? Ok. I’m done, maybe I should just not watch RUclips anymore cuz this back and forth is killing my pockets and time.

    • @nancykerrigan
      @nancykerrigan 3 года назад +6

      Lol, i feel your concerns. It's so annoying to hear all these different opinions and basing your spending your hard earned money on products they recommend and don't recommend. I am black and use mineral sunscreen. I used to use chemical sunscreen (mind you there are some of those that cause a white cast as well) but noticed a slight burning sensation when i was using an spf moisturizer as well as breakouts and saw from skincare youtubers like dr dray that they have the same experience, so I switched to mineral. I recommend the guards up mineral sunscreen from versed. It's 22 bucks for like 1 oz but I like it. I'm dark/brown skinned and it leaves little cast on me. I also have the purito comfy water block (mineral) and unscented centella (chemical) sunscreen and haven't seen a cast on either if them, but I'm gonna finish the versed before i start them.
      Mind you, she may not be referring to darker skinned folks in this video. Also i believe she did another spf myth buster, believe the title was Should you wear your sunscreen indoors ? Where she said that according to an article there's little research to claim that darker skinned people need to apply sunscreen religiously (they don't recommend going for long periods of time under sun exposure without sunscreen) so... I dunno what to tell you 🤷‍♀️

      The same thing happened to me!! I think I'm just going to forgo sunscreen unless I know I'm goign to be outside int he sun for more then 2 hrs, I'm dark skin African American and I spend most of my time indoors so I feel like all this sunscreen talk is a little obsessive. I understand what Michelle and others says but I really don't feel like it is that big of a deal for darker skin people (darker then tan/caramel) as long as we aren't standing outside on 95+ degree (F) for hours at a time. Lastly, chemical sun\screen makes me break out no matter what if worn consistently and physical sunscreen gives me that white caste regardless the brand.

    Make a video about the reflect vs absorb thing. I'm tired of explaining to skincare influencers that both absorb and organic filters aren't the devil - in fact they provide protection against UVA1 which zinc oxide and titanium dioxide cant provide protection for. Also I can't stand how people support Skinnies sunscreen - a great sunscreen with bad marketing. They advise a pea-sized amount for the whole face, neck and ears!

    • @avalyn28
      @avalyn28 3 года назад +8

      Zinc oxide does provide UVA1 protection and also some visible light protection. Zinc oxide is a full spectrum filter. It just doesn't achieve as high a rating as chemical filters.

    • @WillerRemyMa
