Oh She is a beauty and wont steer you wrong! If I have any tips for you so far, it would be to really try and use the stops on the rod to get the full stone in use. I have found all my stones to have a dip in the belly. This can cause your stones to collide with the hex screws on the clamp! (usually on shorter blades). I flattened my stone off on a diamond steel plate now tho and all is good. I would love to know how you get on with your's!
Floated glass is good with a proper grit paper, but the diamond plate is what I had to hand. I am also thinking of filing down them hex screws for my more narrow blades. It's horrible when you hit them.
I've purchased the K02 kit and it's on the way. Can you please explain the initial setup of the sharpener and how to choose what attachments get used and when? Thanks
GxAxV Sorry but Wranglers video isn't very in depth and he hasn't done very many sharpening videos at all. Actually, no one has as much detail as the ones you've done so far. Looking at yours and other videos. It appears there is a slight angle difference between the base and the upright part that's holding the sharpener? I know you can adjust the angle via the rear piece. But is the slight difference an issue and how do you adjust for it? If interested in conversing by phone please let me know.
Ah my bad it's been a while since I saw his video. I just remember that being the 1st one I saw on it. Feel free to ask me the key questions you want to know and in a day or so I will make a video where I can answer them all. I am sure others would like to know also =]
This looks like a fantastic piece of kit, and I am really tempted to go for it. The unit itself looks like it will last a lifetime. My only concert is what happens when the stones wear out? Are replacements only available from the manufacturer (who seems to be a one-man company), or are they some standard size and available widely if needed?
Anthony Lauder I have bough cheaper ones from Chinese websites and also clamped that diamond metal plate in it! You can really use any stone you like if it fits. The aluminium bevelled plate that the original stones come on can also be re used with glue on stones of your choice.
Nice sharpener. I want to order this exact model but their website it's a little confusing. Could you please tell me how did you order yours, and did it come with those stones or they are extra. Also can you produce a polished edge with them? Thank You in advance
Hi Thank you for the video. Most of the others on this sharpener are in Russian and my Russians not that good ! Do you have any problems with the clamp bending under the pressure of the sharpening stroke which would alter your angle? Do you get the same angle on both sides when you flip the knife ?And do you get different angles along a long blade ? So do you do the sharpie trick marking the bevel with ink to get an even secondary bevel ? I also assume that you check that you have apexed the edge before moving on to polishing the edge. I am sorry to hit you with so many questions.
Hey Ainsley, Thanks for your comment! The clamps are some of the best I have seen and do not flex at all! the have great adjustment so you can get a firm grip on most shaped spines. If you take care clamping the blade correctly, it will produce the very same angle on both sides. One of the best things about it for me is just flipping from side to side with confidence that nothing has changed. The sharpie method is everyone's preference I think and works very well, so yes I use it too. I will make another video in the next day or two going in depth about each part and how to use it correctly. I hope this helps!
Can I ask if you could do recurves with this, I am tossing up between this and the wicked edge and this seems nicer, but I make a lot of recurves so that's the test.
Shelley Raskin you can attach any type of stone on this clamp so any shape really. I think it would do fine. I have done one with a stone I didn't care about. So it's edges went a bit. Blade was good tho.
Just got mine the other day. What a piece of solid beauty!

Yep im using them. They recommend using piece of glass to flatten your stones.

I love my K02 but damned if the priced didn't just go up again. It is starting to very quickly get to the point of not being worth its value.
I am considering getting the TSPROF - any compelling reason to get the K-03?
its way better but the price ewww

There are some videos out there on setting this up (wranglerstar is ok) but I will be making a video more in detail about all the parts and set up.

If you have instagram you can also check out some of the knives I have done. @gj.sharpening
how do you know when to flip the blade over. I do not see you checking for the burr. Also, what type of stones are these? Thanks

Rodolfo Nomberto what you see here is the k02 model. It comes with the stones, 2 sets of clamps for long and short knives and all the stuff you see.

Hi
Thanks for the information.I have ordered the system
Regards
So it's a copy of the tsprof?
Tech Studio = TS Prof. Tech Studio Profiler was the original name. Hope that helps.

I sharpened a butter knife and all my neighbors knives!
I want this but 400+ USD makes it a very hard buy.
Darwin Bradley worth every penny!
Darwin Bradley, get the KME
there is a discent competitor. Look at Kazak UBR from poland. You get the same functional for $250. KME is not as good as Profile or Kazak
If this product was made in US it would cost more than 1200$ does this justify purchase ?
Why not learn free hand sharpening?
Gloves to use a sharpener?
Ohhh....my lord...that's very sad.
The amount of knives I sharpen for customers in one session if plenty to make a big mess and its a pain to clean off my hands
