You did an outstanding job explaining AC3D, you made it all so simple to understand. I will be looking for your other video's.

Awesome, l'm so glad that someone has finally made a more detailed video using AC3D. Especially on animation.
    More video's on AC3D please.
    Many thanks

Perfect introduction to using AC3D for X-Plane, I've learned a lot from you in the last hour. Thanks for putting this together

great - thanks . Next one a simple gauge please. this gave a great understanding of how much work is involved in a whole panel !

@Sim VRlabs, i have just came across your channel and the tutorials are really good, do you plan on making a tutorial on how to add an avitab tablet into an aircraft? im new to all the editing and adding things and would love to be able to learn how to add the avitab into a cockpit. Keep up the great work

I was looking for such video for a long time, any possibility in making a full tutorial from the beginning until the end without time lapsing just to get familiar with the plugin and how it's done.

congratulations for the video I learned a lot, but I have a question, how can I create a shortcut from a button I have in the collective, why doesn't the shortcut exist on xplane

Thank you for the vid. It helped me to get started and I have been able to make an animated 3d cockpit with ACD3, but I am running into trouble making objects clickable. Any chance you could make the pizza box lid clickable?

Thank you very much, I made a box and exported it successfully to x-plane but I think the backface culling is active, when I open the box cover, the bottom side is invisible, What can I do to make the bottom of the box visible, is there a way to make the fave of the object double sided using blender?, Thanks and regards.

does anyone know of a video setting out how to make a ' manipulator ' in ac3d for driving the animation . for example a rotary with on the panel that would open and close the pizza box ?

Tried step by step but can not texture inner and outer surfaces - perhaps there is a step missing to make surfaces have an inner and outer side ? any help appreciated

Hi you know where i can find the option texture realtime update? Im struggling to create a display polygon for gtn

I did the same thing to make my texture in paint and then copy it to objects folder of aircraft. But, when I try to load the texture from the ac3d, the png file that I made does not show. What could I do for this?

Do you know if there is any way to change views . In most aircraft design x = longitudinal ( roll) , y = lateral ( pitch ) and z= vertical ( yaw ) . In AC3D this is not the case so front view has Z as longitudinal and front view shows rear view . Ideally some toggle to select aircraft coordinates vs Cartesian .

it seems as if I just have to select Object-> Thicken -> 0.001 to get two sides surfaces that I can apply different colors to .

On the bottom left corner you'll see options that say "poly", "smooth", 1S, 2S, etc....if you make it "2S" then it will be 2 sided.

Excelent video, I only need to learn system programming to build some aircraft, any chance or link on tutorials about coding an aircraft?

Yes, if you watch my simVRlabs "Get Scripty" series, you'll learn more about that.

Thanks for these tutorials!! Is there a way to do this rather in Blender? I do like the open source stuff :-)

There is more docs out there and people to help doing this stuff in blender. Ask around on XPlane forums.

Hello when i choose the obj file, it doesn’t open on AC3D :(

  • @hedleyfurio

Thanks for reply but after many viewings I can not see where you select the 2s option . Texturing starts around 45 minutes in ?

    • @simvrlabs908

I didn't do it on the video, it was 2 sided by default...but if for whatever reason your mesh is only 1 sided, this is how you turn it back to 2-sided.

  • @pto200

Can this be done in Blender? I didn't realize this is a paid program.
    Thank you.

Finally the penny dropped . A 2 sided surface does not mean that each side can be a different color when textured . Rather two sided in AC3d seems to mean the surface can be seen from both sides. If a different texture map is required with texture coordinate editor on each side of a surface then thicken is required.
