It was never even close for people who actually follow tennis. Most grand slams, joint most atp finals, most masters, most weeks ranked #1. All the stats show you it's Djokovic. On top of that, he's also the only player to have won at least 3 of every slam. People can prefer Federer and Nadal, but they're not better than Djokovic. All these stats become even more impressive when you realise Novak also definitely lost a few slams due to covid. Would've definitely won Wimbledon in 2020 if it wasn't cancelled. Would almost certainly have won at least one of the US and Australian opens in 2022. He could easily be on 26/27 by now but it doesn't matter. He'll surely still win a few more and further cement his status as the goat.
Margaret court shouldn't be in GOAT conversations. She won some of those grand slams against some random aunts. Wish he breaks that overall record in Australian Open.
GOAT and big two. Djokovic was robbed 3 GS (2020 WO, 2022 AO, 2022 USO). He is still in good shape. I wouldn't be surprise he can get at aleast 2 more. I don't think 26 should be in the same tier as 20, just as 20 is not in the same tier as 14.
Novak is such a good sample to study. He did not neglect the intellectual part of his life, he trains his brain. How many languages does he speak? English, German and Italian, he is improving his French, I think he is also working on his Spanish. Learning a new language is a great way to keep the brain plastic and young. He is a living example that healthy habits, work and discipline are the way to success and well-being.
Nadal can become the goat again if the situation becomes this one: Djokovic has 24 slams. Nadal leads in h2h in slams Nadal leads in h2h in non-slams. And if you bring up that nadal leads the h2h in slams only because of most matches were on clay, then i say that's not nadal's fault. If you say that Nadal avoided non-clay tournaments and only played clay-tournaments, all just to get a better h2h with djokovic, then the argument back is that Nadal was allowed to do so. Come on Rafa, you can do it! ! Nadal would see himself as the goat if we switched djokovic with federer in the stats above. So why not see yourself as the goat with nole in the statistics?

Hard to argue with facts, innit? Most grand slams, ATP finals, Masters 1000, Year End championship, Weeks at #1 ranking... It goes on and on. He's dominated this sport unlike any other athlete in any other sport. It's easiest claim in sport.
It's a shame too as Novak absolutely could have won that Wimbledon final , screwed up a set point in set 2 and hit that terrible volley in the fifth set when he had a break point , but it happens even to the best sometimes . Alcaraz deserves the win 100 % don't mistake me for saying that he doesn't just saying that Novak lost that much because he wasn't clutch enough rather than Alcaraz outplaying him .
he has been the GOAT since about 2018, it has never been a debate, even the most die hard Fedal fans know and accept. once he leveled with Rafa and RF, they started arguing that RF has great hair and that Rafa has big muscles and both are loved instead of using the yardstick measurement they were using before. Now they are throwing the most women's GS in there, which was unheard of when rafa was chasing Fed and before. he has since conquered that...next they are going to start judging him of wheelchair slams etc. It is beyond ridiculous. Yes this era is pretty weak but he has dominated the greatest era from 11-16 (2008-2017, was the greatest era). If he wasn't barred from entering tournaments and events being canceled he would have 100% won more slams and his NO1 record would be way north of 400 weeks.

@@darkocvijan1684 these sorts of comments show just how irrational people can get. now we are comparing people of different sports. if one is talking probability, novak's number of slams is not that remarkable, as 2 others already have similar numbers. if i had to pick one athlete who may hold the most unbreakable record, it would be bill russell and 11 out of 13 nba championships. people talk about slams, now. but slams were not always the biggest thing. throughout most of tennis history, one's season was the most important. ken rosewall won 4 of his slams, early in his career. he won the other 4 late in his career. during all those peak years, he didnt play, because he was professional. yes, the winners of all those slams were never the best tennis players - they were amateurs. any guess as to how many slams rosewall would have had, if he could have played them ? this is the reason you can compare generations. way too many differences. today, novak only wants to play in slams. that did not happen in yesteryear, cuz slams did not have that sort of attachment. also give these players wood rackets to play with, and lets see how good they look - LOL.
Let's not forget Novak ABSOLUTELY could have had the opportunity to WIN another GS title in the 2020 US OPEN. What most sport journalist fail to see that Djokovic's greatness comes from his Serbian Orthodox faith. The first thing he said in an interview with Serbian journalists: "I'm thankful to God and Guardian Angels!"
I was just watching a recent interview (maybe last night) when was asked about his dream as a kid of being #1 and winning Wimbledon.. In his answer he said when "WE did it". He made sure to specify he 100% meant "we"(family) and it couldn't have been possible without their sacrifice and faith.
For now and for many years to come…but to say for ever is like saying the earth is absolutely a spinning space rock… a day will come when a male tennis player will surpass Djokovic and the earth will be declared a stationary level plane… peace…
A few records that were not mentioned: 1) 7 years finished as number 1 ranking; 2) 6 ATP Finals (joint record w/ federer); and 3) only player to win all master 1000 tournaments (and he´s won them all at least twice). And all that taking in consideration the major impact on his statistics that the vacine ban caused. He´d have at least 1 more GS, at least 2 ou 3 Masters 1000, at least another 35-40 weeks at nº 1, and certainly, would have finished last year as nº1, making it 8 year-end number 1s.

Not only it is settled amongst all players till now..but ill be hard to change even if there ll be someone to reach the same amount of slams in the future(lets say alcaraz for example)...reason is that Novak battled for almost all of these slams against the two other best players in the history of the game, so any challenger would be hard pressed to first...get that number of slams and second have a similar competition that Novak got from Federer and Nadal...stick a fork in it..its done.

In Britain they might settle for Djokovic as the GOAT, but they still have a very long way to go before admitting their BIG4 concept was always a cringy one. 24,22,20 and 3 The BIG 4 combined for a whopping 69 Grand Slam Titles🤣😂

It was settled settled after the 23rd Slam. Even before the 23rd slam, he was ahead in the conversation, but the 23rd slam made his record a Triple grand, which cannot be touched by Rafa, and Roger never even did a double. He also has double big titles sweep, which Rafa and Roger didn't achieve even once. Honestly, he should put all his effort to win Monte Carlo next year, because a triple big titles sweep will almost never be eclipsed. He also has most weeks at number 1, most year end number 1 and most top 10 wins. Should I go on? He's the most versatile tennis player of all time.
If he is that good how come he was not able to achieve a calendar slam like the great players Don Budge, Rod Laver, Steffi Graf, Dylan Alcott and Diede de Groot after spending hundreds of weeks as world No.1?
His career started with a prime Federer and lasted a prime Nadal. He is mid 30's and the young players who should be carrying over the torch are not a scratch on him. Alcatraz I think needs a couple more wins to truly convince me Djokovic is fading.
That "prime Federer" thing is a myth, IMO. Roger was balling hard right up to the end. 2017 - AO Finals win over Rafa (coming back from behind in the 5ht) & Miami Final win over Kyrgios which was 3 set/3 tie break classic. Arguably playing better all around Tennis than the so called "prime" - And then, of course, 2019 Wimbledon - playing at incredibly high level crushing everyone until losing to GOAT Novak (mentally) in the 5th.
Yes the discussion is absoloutly over, as a federer lover I say this that Nole is the Goat of tennis and even one of three of all world sport in history
He is the GOAT of this era like Borotra, Tilden, Hoad, Laver etc. A new era with new equipment, a few new slams(ASIA and South America possibly ) added and in 50 years nobody will remember him when the system creates a 50 slam winner. Every era gets a new one, but he is of course the GOAT of the 21st century so far.
Huge Nadal fan here and really wished that he could keep going forever but the stats don’t lie… there isn’t much to make up 2 extra slams over Nadal, 4 slams over Federer. How many players have 4 total slams??? Fed cannot be considered the GOAT being that far behind two players. No argument for Nadal anymore either :/ but he has one more year. Let’s see what he can do. But Novak is GOAT
when Federer overtook Sampras with 15 GS no one mentioned other records than Serena, Grandma Margaret. Instead, they immediately crowned him the best tennis player in history. The same goes for the weeks on the first place. Novak is also breaking those records. It remains to be seen if there was a dinosaur with more titles... We people from the West are very bad.
What sets him apart as the single greatest player of all time is 3 French titles, all other greats like Nadal, Federer, Pete did not win more than 2 of every big 4. Pete won zero French, Nadal did not win more than 2 besides the French. Federer only once. It just shows Djokovic has no flaws.
Thank you! We all knew that. Why was it so difficult to accept and say that?! Put it to bed! Novak Djoković is The GREATEST OF ALL TIME. 💪💫🇷🇸His record shows it. He proved why he is the Best!! Now give this man RESPECT he actually deserves!! And stop downplaying his success. And just imagine where he would be if he wasn’t denied playing last two years! Ps Don’t want to think where the media would put his if he happened to be a ‘westerner’....
It's not even a debate. He has a balance across all surfaces. Additionally, he is great in interviews, and off the court, he isn't a yes man. He doesn't go with the status quo and thinks for himself.
He is the most consistent winner. That is not debatable at all. However it’s how Federer won was what made him the favorite. He’d be the one always going for the difficult shots and winners, while Novak would be more careful with defense first. In turn, Roger would have much more unforced errors and also more winners. Roger was great on and off the court and really was the best ambassador for tennis. However, I have to say, Djokovic has matured a lot both his tennis and his behavior. Federer will always be my GOAT for the tennis he played, only he could play.
not a fan of joker but he is undisputedly the greatest player, a healthy Nadal could give him a run for his money but Novaks playstyle has adapted into his longevity in the sport
Djokovic has the most beautiful plays and games of all the greats, the most intelegent player, best tennis knowledge than anyone I ever seen, and i ve seen from LAVER and many other . he is the most complete player, the best backhaand, the best forehand, one of the best voleys, his slice is incredible, the best returner of all time, top 5 best serve of all time,...Nick Boliteri said it all the most complete player he seen in 60 years .No doubt, and as seen in matches against Federer, Nadal etc., his shots and versaitility shown, that he is the best.
We don't even have an accurate picture of the real gap between Novak and all the other players. Imagine if he would have been allowed to play during the COVID years... the gap between Novak and his followers would have been even greater.
THIS Performance for a so long time, record breaking, statistics speak for themselves. He is the GOAT, the greatest of all time. If you prefer a different game-style, it's your personal taste, but HE IS THE GOAT, this is not a personal taste.
Rafa's going to have one huge problem when he comes back for Roland Garros: he's going to come in unseeded, and would have literally the toughest draw he's ever faced in major. Combine that with the fact that there are more excellent "specialists" on clay than any other surface, and you can imagine a draw where he might have to face 5 or even 6 top-20 players, including potential back-to-back Djokovic and Alcaraz - and imagine possibly having to face Ruud or Zverev in the first round. Hard enough in your prime, but in your late 30s it's really helpful to have a couple of early "easy" matches that come with a high seed. Really, it's the same issue Murray and Stan have been facing since their comebacks - good enough to beat anyone on a given day, but not to make it through a murderer's row of seeded opponents almost every tournament.
LOL what do they mean with "joint" grand slam record? Are they comparing him with Margaret Court? Put him on a court with any woman and the score is 6-0 6-0 6-0
He has all the achivements and the numbers. Why does this question keep coming up again and again. Maybe he definitiely is the goat or maybe his claim to that title is weak idk. Its funny how this questions keeps coming up again and again every time he wins. Or is there something else to this???
You can't compare Mrs. Court to Novak. What if I arranged a tournament in my neighborhood, called it a new grand slam, and won it 30 times! Can I call myself the GOAT of tennis after doing that? Mrs. Court's early titles in Australia were something like that. She is great, but 100,000 miles away from Djokovic's greatness. Not to mention that she was not in the male tennis!
its SETTLED long time ago. Only idiots dont see it. Best tennis player ever, one of the best (if not the best) athletes ever!!! Come one NOLE!!!! #25 in AO
He's up there with Rod Laver. ("How can you say that, you... ?!"😮) Well, Rod Laver won 2 Calendar Grand Slams but more notably, could not play the Slams for FIVE of his best years! In between those 2 Calendar Grand Slams! And he still got 11. I personally believe he would have won 30 or thereabouts. Djokovic has 24 but he has won the bulk of them against Federer and Nadal! (And Murray in form!) That's what makes his 24 slams so unbelievably great! Now all that's left really, is to beat Carlos Alcaraz in a Grand Slam final and reach 25 slams. Then will he be the undisputed GOAT! And he WILL reach 25 so long as the numbers don't get to him... 🙏🏽
Roger won his 1st slam in 2003 at 21st age, when Djokovic turned Pro. Since 2003 RF dominated the game like no one did. Djokovic won his slam in 2008 but he has to wait again for 3 years for his next slam, because Roger & Nadal are still competing with each other. Till that time, he maintained his ranking below Roger & Nadal, because Djokovic is the next best player. After Roger started losing to anybody, Djokovic started winning slams slowly. Watching Roger game, feels he born to play tennis. slice, single handed back hand, mixing of shots, winning easy matches. Whereas Novak game is more physical, same as Rafa. Like, if you have to keep winning you need to work harder than other players. For me difference between Roger & Djokokovic , is like a difference between brilliant & hardworking student, both are getting good numbers.

Novak won the race between big three. Therefore he is the GOAT.
He understand Russian at this point .
Nadal can become the goat again if the situation becomes this one:
Djokovic has 24 slams.
Nadal leads in h2h in slams
Nadal leads in h2h in non-slams.
And if you bring up that nadal leads the h2h in slams only because of most matches were on clay, then i say that's not nadal's fault.
If you say that Nadal avoided non-clay tournaments and only played clay-tournaments, all just to get a better h2h with djokovic, then the argument back is that
Nadal was allowed to do so.
Come on Rafa, you can do it! !
Nadal would see himself as the goat if we switched djokovic with federer in the stats above. So why not see yourself as the goat with nole in the statistics?

And the one he lost this year it was in the final in a fifth-set barely lost 6-4, not too bad. :)😀
That Cincy win over Carlitos - that was a MAJOR statement..

Admittedly, I'm a die-hard Federer fan and he will always be my favorite player, period. However, and it brings me no solace to say this, Novak is the GOAT. The numbers are not debatable. He has surpassed Roger and Rafa in nearly every category, and he has a head-to-head winning record against both guys. It's crazy that this guy is still at the top of the game and playing as good as ever at his age.
Respect.Yeah, GOAT and favorite player are two diffent things which sometimes overlap. I'm Team Novak but the 2017 Roger win in Miami FInal over Kyrgios in 3 and his come-from-behind AO Final vs. Rafa are absolute classics.
The fact that the goat debate is based on numbers is questionable. If so, neither Maradona nor Senna nor Jordan are goats. But if the goat debate is based also on certain qualities, like popularity and historical importance in the development of the sport, then numbers will become a factor among others, and not a sole criteria. The worldwide popularity of Djokovic is anecdotal compared to Federer’s and Nadal’s, and his global tactical scheme is very classical: defensive power baseliner, with attrition and counterattack, precisely like Lendl, Agassi or Nadal. He didn’t invent the baseline tennis like Borg, nor the total, tridimensional tennis like Federer, nor reached the pinnacle of serve-and-volley tennis like Sampras.
@@rudolfdaher Your senseless 'feels'/fanboy ramblings aside, Novak's "tridimensional" beatdown of your Roger at Wimbledon 2019, 2015, & 2014 is one of those "historical importance" factors you elude to in your Fed love letter, I mean comment. IDEMO :)

Djokovic won over Federer using solely a power baseline game, only against Medvedev he instilled some serve-and-volley, for the very same reasons Federer did before him (age implies shortening the rallies). Why on earth do they have Margaret Court's WOMENS all-time record showing up on a male's player record board?

Well done Novax.
Djokovic missed 4 grand slams in his absolute prime due to Covid and the US open incident. He would have had 26/27 at least. 🐐
This wouldn't even have been a question if it were Nadal or fed that had the most GS
Anyway I think that most important stay is not the slam titles, but the most weeks at N. 1, because that stat take all the titles
Why is this still a question, oh my goddd. There hasn't been a clearer answer in list of GOAT debates across any sport.
Federer is actually VERY lucky that Nole and Rafa are younger, if they were his age,
he would NEVER even be the part of these conversations.

Изузетан човек.
The problem for d Western countries is that he is from Serbia. I prefer Nadal but Djokovic is a beast
But serbia only depends on djokovic while spain produces great ATP players such as nadal, alcaraz, ferrer, moya, and so forth
@@wimzswimz9843It's not about the number of players each country produce but it's about who is the greatest. As much as I love Nadal but I can't deny that Djokovic is better than him
The debate is settled. He is the best. It would take atleast 15 years for anyone else to get there and reopen the debate.
thanks for the honesty
