Someone dropped the ball by not letting him pit when he requested to.

I have to give credit to the guy in the 2nd chase at 12:09 . He bails out of a moving truck, gets hit by a police car, almost run over by a 2nd police car, swarmed by officers and almost bitten by a K-9 unit...but somehow manages to appear so composed and polite after he's cuffed and even gives credit to the officers fo doing their job, lol

He endangered countless lives, including those officers'. Sucking up and pretending to respect the police afterwards is not an act of redemption. Owning up to his crimes and not dragging half the department and random innocent civilians into his reckless attempt at evading the law would've been a good start. They really need to make the punishment for starting high-speed chases much more severe.

There should never be question or request for permission to PIT if they enter a wrong way situation. At that point it's whatever it takes to end the threat.
Shouldn't be, but that is policy. They absolutely missed the ball, weren't paying attention. Cool skills have just taken the initiative. Was afraid to lode his job, and he can be personally liable if someone gets hurt while he is violating policy. And idiots actually think we need to make cops more liable to lawsuits.

They need to pay more attention when and where they pit. So many lost oppurtunities. They end up taking out innocent motorists or property damage when they had more than enough chances to end it with little collateral damage

Right, even if it collides with other vehicles causing injury or death. This one stayed on its wheels but often they crash and smash whatever happens to be in their path. Cops and their commanders tend to be thoughtful of other vehicles and the people inside when choosing a good time to PIT.
Imagine grilling in your back yard and suddenly a bus sized RV and 5 Police cruisers drive through at high speed, wrecking your lawn.

So far into the video, the stolen Ohio State Patrol RV with its bumpout kitchenette hanging out there in the breeze as they all blaze through the backyards of entire cul-de-sacs has to be my fave. "Throw another shrimp on the barby, mate!"

Considering how many people are put at risk during these chases I never blame the officers for screaming and shouting to get the person out of the car. What I find hilarious is so many times the suspect or suspects will sound and act puzzled at why the officers are so angry.

Shouting and threatening is expected, but if you cant handle the adrenaline of a chase, or let anger get the better of you, change jobs.

Yes, on all Michigan state police cars, it can light up and everything.
Michigan State Police are supposed to pull up on the driver's side of the car they want to pull over and turn on the sign. They keep it and the 1950s light because it looks cool (to them).
I was screaming PIT when he was on the ramp asking... Whoever failed to respond was very lucky for that preexisting incident.

A big ol' box truck makes a better getaway vehicle than I would have imagined.
First chase: Definitely a time for an 18-wheeler to help. I once was a partner on an 18-wheeler. You'd be surprised how much they assist officers during an impossible vehicle chase like this.
A lot of them will not anymore for a couple of reasons. First, they could get held liable for any damaged caused to someone not involved in the chase. Which could then get them fired from their job and blacklisted by insurance companies. It really is best to let leo deal with them unless the situation is truly dire and life threatening.

Let the professionals do what they're paid to do and just GTFO of the way.

Dude in the box truck was actually a crazy good driver. Dude was pulling maneuvers that some people would have trouble with in a sedan.
If these chase vehicles were equipped with a GRAPPLER system, lots of needless damage could have been prevented.
They Pit maneuvered the truck, then when he ran, they pitted him too. Perfect.

For those not from Michigan, and wondering why our cars look like that, its because our state police wants to keep tradition! I love it
I like old-school spinning lights because they actually throw light. I was disappointed when MSP went LED. It's just not the same to have a big blinking light, you don't get that pop.
If you're like me and were curious about how the semi chase ended, here's what I found: "SWAT eventually used a .50 caliber rifle to shoot the engine block on the semi, which caused an oil leak and forced the semi to stop. Berthelot was initially arrested on a kidnapping charge. He pleaded guilty Monday to abduction, felonious assault and failure to comply with a police officer. He will serve seven years in prison with credit for 669 days already served. His license will be suspended for five years."

I've seen it several times, people trying to elude and wind up driving on the wrong side of the road trying to make others hurt themselves. Don't they realize if they cause others to hurt themselves they( the criminals) are responsible?

@@JJ-kf8kt Okay; Trooper Nathan Williams approached the car to perform "PIT MANEUVER," with a speed of 136mph, and at the MANEUVER moment, his speed was ~127mph!!! He ends up perfectly good and safe. The car, he TOOK it OUT! I remember; the driver was okay. I should watch that again; I had never seen Pit maneuver done at that high-speed rate before.

Some of these may be low speed chases but it really is astonishing how many chases you see where the pursuing officer is literally in the on-coming traffic lane coming up a hill, or blowing through an intersection at high speeds, both without lights or sirens. Seems dangerous for all involved. If all fairness in these clips I think they may just be hard to see/hear, but you can definitely find pursuits out there like that.

When I play Frisbee with my shepard I'm amazed at her speed. No human can outrun her. That just makes her play take down. Running away puts her in control. I don't need a doorbell anymore. I don't know how she knows because the doorbell is at the gate of the driveway.
