INSANE, finally SUB 20! and good sub 18 min, I never find in a way to get more speed with WC at the last 2 red coins to skip the qslg part, really super time saved.
Apart from a couple of sloppy parts this is a pretty good tas! I missed the shortcut at 6:30 it seems. I don't think picking up the metal cap at 12:14 and 17:31 is a good idea, because wing caps last for 60 seconds and metal caps only for 20, unless it's changed in this hack. I'd also recommend learning glitchy wall kicks, they're pretty easy to do and they'd make some of those firsty chains a bit cleaner.
For metal cap, unless vanila sm64 or tw, wing caps last for 20 seconds. And for gwks, is there any way to do gwk easier than just bumping to the wall corner? (I actually use gwks, but for most time, a single gwk takes 50~200 rerecords for me. I don't want to waste my time for that 1 gwk.)
@@jmcr7462 Blindly jumping into a corner won't give you a gwk most of the time. You need to know what you're doing. You know how Mario moves 4 times per frame, right? How this kind of gwk works is that you bonk on a wall on one quarterframe, which makes Mario able to wallkick, then use the rest of the quarterframes to move to a different wall. The result is that Mario is able to wallkick off of that second wall, no matter its angle. So if you can hit the very edge of a wall on the first quarterframe and strain slightly outwards, you will be able to gwk every time, as long as you have at least 67 speed. Note: This is for _convex_ corners, meaning the walls are facing away from each other. For _concave_ corners, it's a little more complicated.
