I just received my first secondhand guitar less than 24 hours ago. No cable or anything yet so I just plink-plink-plinked across the _5_ strings it currently has. It was a conscious thought that it's going to take LOTS of practice for it to finally sound like something. For now, that practice is about not numbing (silencing) the other strings while trying to target any other single string next to them. lol!

Hi Tyler. Now that Eddie's gone can you please record a full version of eruption like you play in this video? It sounds as if Eddie's soul is flying to paradise😇😇
I have been playing for about 17 years on and off, but only recently got somewhat serious about guitar. If there's 2 pieces of advice i can give newer players - 1) get a teacher or use an online resource like Justin Guitar to iron out all the basics 2) don't skip hard songs just because they are hard. Analyse and practice even if it takes weeks or months to learn something. You WILL get there. There are many solos I never thought I'd ever be able to play on Day 1, but after 2 or 3 weeks I mastered them. This made learning other solos easier too over time.
I tried changing the strings on my guitar with a tremelo system on my own for the first time few weeks ago. I was having problems and I felt kind of dissapointed in myself until I took it into the guitar shop to have the tech do it and found out that half of the threads on the bridge were stripped
1. Getting my first guitar after months of playing an old acustic. 2. Joining a band 3. First live show 4. Learning shredding and sweep picking, things that seemed impossible when i started. 5. Recording and releasing your first song
Getting comfortable playing the Everest song that was your "if I can ever do this I wont need anything else" in the beginning. Nothing like feeling that level of progress whenever you play it and think back.
I have been playing for 10 years now. There have been many great moments but probably the best was when I got my first guitar and let my first open chord ring out with distortion. It was an Agile AL-2000. All I had at the time was some really (REALLY) old Rickenbacker amp and a RAT pedal. Tuned the guitar to drop D, plugged everything in and turned everything on, and let an open D power chord ring out. At that moment I knew this was right for me. SO satisfying.
Definitely everyone should feel that #2 (ha) all the time as we work to better ourselves and learn/write music. Cant wait to feel that #4 with a new amp next year as a house warming present to myself 😁
Best moment of my guitar life so far was putting on the backing track and realizing I can finally play Master of Puppets. Only James' rhythm part right now, but I've played it so much my parents probably don't like that song anymore
My favorite moment moment was when I was in high school and I went to a random dominos, the girl on the counter was someone I’ve never seen before but she instantly said “Hey your that dude thats really good at guitar”... I think she went to my school and I was in Jazz Band but it still was heart warming, its the little things that count
1.Attempting to play some of your favorite songs as a newb and actually getting people to recognize them. 2. Buying your first guitar...ahhh the smell of shred in the morning! 3. Nailing an insanely difficult lick/song and sharing it with friends who never realized you kept playing since #1. 5. Practicing until you start just coming up with your own riffs and turning them into a song!
1. First Guitar (Mine was a squier 60s vibe strat) 2. First solo (Smells like teen spirit) 3. First ever full song that sounds good(also smells like teen spirit) 4. First Proper guitar (Like a PRS, Gibson or Fender mine was a Gibson LP) 5. Through the Fire and flames Bonus: The murder of your fingers is also pretty memorable every time you do it
1. Having a guitar teacher so good that you turn his first lesson into three original songs (it's a shame I was too broke to continue with the lessons...guy was Kung Fu) 2. Putting together a group of students to take the school talent show first place prize away from the beat box kid who'd won it all the years prior. 3. Your first live gig that goes well.... 4. Having your own kids, training them, and then having them join your band 5. Playing a set in Dubai with a random friend who plays harmonica like a beast.
Robert Normann, he was a Norwegian jazz guitarist. You must check out this guitarist. Even django respected this guy. Django said to Norway what are you doing with me with me you got Robert Normann. He's the chord master.
I can sorta relate to number 5. Whenever my mom buys a bottle of wine she asks me to play classic tunes, and I have a friend on twitter who started playing guitar last year when I showed her a guitar that was under $400. 🎸
I think number 2 is one for all instruments, had several of those moments on guitar where I practised and practised, made a breakthrough and it became easy, barre chords, realising I could move the shapes around, getting my violin, practicing for ages, realising there was an easy pattern to playing major/minor scales, learning a few simple tunes, going back to guitar with a different view, working out those scales, realizing that all the chords in a key can be constructed from it's scale, applying that back to violin, figuring out that moving a finger around can create different chords, like the simple yet effective Dm to Dmmaj7 to Dm7 fall, etc
Can you relate to any of these moments?
If you want another great moment as a guitar player then you should register for my guitar summer camp with Paul Reed Smith: bit.ly/PRSMDTyler

Probably the nicest guitar case I've ever seen.
Your first guitar is always special
I had that new guitar moment recently and coincidentally it was also a PRS but nothing like what was in that case. Loving my S2 standard.
The last one was basically just a surreal meme.
The best moment a guitar player could have in his/her life is learning how to fully play there favorite song
1. First Guitar (Mine was a squier 60s vibe strat)
2. First solo (Smells like teen spirit)
3. First ever full song that sounds good(also smells like teen spirit)
4. First Proper guitar (Like a PRS, Gibson or Fender mine was a Gibson LP)
5. Through the Fire and flames
Bonus: The murder of your fingers is also pretty memorable every time you do it
1. Having a guitar teacher so good that you turn his first lesson into three original songs (it's a shame I was too broke to continue with the lessons...guy was Kung Fu)
2. Putting together a group of students to take the school talent show first place prize away from the beat box kid who'd won it all the years prior.
3. Your first live gig that goes well....
4. Having your own kids, training them, and then having them join your band
5. Playing a set in Dubai with a random friend who plays harmonica like a beast.
So dorky and so good. The tapping part was great. Loved how the voices matched the guitar part
"The new guitar"
*plays soft relaxing piano music*
Robert Normann, he was a Norwegian jazz guitarist. You must check out this guitarist. Even django respected this guy. Django said to Norway what are you doing with me with me you got Robert Normann. He's the chord master.
That Eruption part was awesome
EDIT: Saw #5 - this is epic xD
we love your videos !! great job ! have a nice life !!
That piano music during the new guitar bit was quite nice....hauntingly beautiful ^^. And sweep picking must be on the list! Hahaha..it's SO hard
The best moment for me was learning holy wars the punishment due for the first time
The last one was great , just wish there was a baby with wings flying out of the fire
The best moment a guitar player can ever have was when you first played a note ✌
When you finally nail a hard part that's taken a long time to get down
The New Guitar Moment. I loved it.
It’s nice to know that you’re still human @1:11
A great moment is also being able to record something you can play perfectly without messing up.
3:57 THAT FACE 😂😂😂
4:17 and that one!
