From Unwanted Shelter Dog to Most Loved Family Dog | Rosco the Mastiff X

- The story of Rosco started at the farm about 10 months ago. He was aggressive towards other dogs and quite serious in attitude. He frightened a lot of people with his demeanour and looks. Dogs too.
We were told he was brought in by the police after a drug bust. He was trained as a guard dog and had to be pepper sprayed to get him out of the house he was in.
He underwent rehabilitation training for many months. And the longer he was here the more we got to see the real Rosco. A funny goofy guy, warm and incredibly loyal and protective.
Luke fell for this guy very early on. His serious face for every possible occasion, his half bitten off ear and loud low growling no matter what his mood is, only made Luke love him more.
It took me a little longer to see the real Rosco. The gruff was a little hard to see through. But when I did, I discovered the most gentle and loyal heart you could imagine. Without a doubt this dog would die defending his Luke and now of course his family who he is committed to with every sense of his being.
If the children or I am outside, his job is to put himself between us and the big pack. If someone comes to the gate, his job is to lean back on mum and sit on her feet watching the threat ahead. He sits in front of the kids when the dogs run past too fast. He grumbles at the dogs when they’re too rambunctious for his liking when the kids are about.
Rosco is the most beautiful soul. A true family dog. He has found his heaven on earth … finally. And heaven to Rosco truly is a life lived with family. Children, an owner that has his back no matter what. His own pack to protect. He loves his fellow mate in charge, Freddo. The brotherhood is real. He loves his little sister Cutie Pie who he lies down and wrestles and nuzzles her with such gentleness. Even Kitty with her sass, Rosco previously would have had Kitty for breakfast, now he loves her too knowing she is Evie’s beloved kitten and an important member of his family here at the farm.
For those that missed it back when we announced it, yes we adopted Rosco. Luke just couldn’t let this guy go. And to be honest, knowing Rosco now and how deep his love runs, he would have literally dug his heels in and not budged past those gates or simply found his way back. He’s an Evans and we love him so and all his grumbles.
There’s so many dogs like Rosco in the pound and in rescue. Waiting for their person who has their back to walk in and save them. And in return … they’ll love you with every little hair on their head. And yes, you might feel they even save you too.

In one of the past videos prior to Roscoe's adoption, like 4 months ago, Elle said to her dad " If no-body wants Roscoe, then I would want him" And sweetheart you got your wish, so did Roscoe, and so did we. ❤💙

I adopted a dog like Rosco from a wonderful shelter on Sydneys Northern Beaches with a no kill policy. He had been there two years and was virtually unadoptable because he was so feisty and would run away. But when i walked him i sensed his intelligence and big loving heart. So i took him and we were together for 12 years. At the end we were like an old married couple with a deep understanding of each other. Words cannot explain the reward of helping an abused damaged dog to heal.
They just want your love and a warm bed at night. I did voluntary rescue work there too, and it’s so rewarding. Especially love it that Luke and Sam started the rehabilitation of these gorgeous puppas. ❤❤🐾🐾

First I must say I am a cat person. I did have one dog named Tramp. I tell people he was dog I never wanted, but was blessed to have. We would walk the park near the house and was a gentle giant. He loved the cats and the young family children. The kids loved to lay their heads on his chest and would lay there until the children got up. To discribehim he was Half Lab, 1/4 border collie, and 1/4 greyhound. He looked like a dog on stilts with a huge chest, slender abdomen, and of course he four stilts! In his youth was 125 pounds. When he turned 10 I saw a change in Tramp. Tramp was doing less and limping around and gain 25 pounds. I think back on that time in my life and see now he was another lesson in life. Be happy, be gentle, love with an open heart, and take one day at a time. Oh, chasing a few birds from time to time too!

Rosco is a very large lap dog. A beautiful boy who has found his true vocation, not protecting a drug dealer, but protecting a wonderful family, giving back the love they have shown him since he came to the farm. He's making up for lost time. Love his stunning markings, his physique, and his vocals.
Cutie Pie is a Lap Dog but thinks she is as big as Rosco, and Rosco believes he is a Lap Dog that is the size of Cutie Pie. Thanks, Luke and Sam, for all the Love you give to these Magnificent Creatures.
Seeing Cutie Pie climbing over Rosco and Rosco letting it happen was one of THE moments!

Rosco is a gem - I love his coloring, his personality, the fact that he has overcome so much - all he needed was someone to love him, not treat him as a commodity. I agree, Elizabeth. Luke's love, patience, and skill peeled away Rosco's negative experiences to allow him to return to his true nature. I think he and Freddo share a unique bond with Luke because all three have worked hard to overcome their previous training and now live their best lives...together! If Rosco isn't living proof that a dog can be turned round from an aggresive, teeth gnashing machine to a marshmallow then I don't know what is. Such a chatty boy that would never surprise me if he turned round one day and said 'I'd like to thank the followers for their support in helping Luke get me to the Farm for life'. Well he does chat a lot 🤩🤩

Because of Luke's patience, love and hard work, Roscoe has come from being fearful and aggressive to a total lovebug. I love his coloring...he is a beautiful dog and so very special. So glad he has his forever home with the Evans family! Good boy, Roscoe!

It could be anything like cleaning supplies, nappies for Barney, treats, safety or security items, items for other animals on the farm too. Litter for kitty rose, a ball for your horse, tools or even items for the pool or cottages or BBQ! Anything!

Big boi Rosco, the quintessential big softee. I got the feeling at the start there was a complete marshmallow slouch potato in there. That day Luke called it and announced he was staying really got to me, it was the same feeling I had when Freddo was revealed as adopted and staying on permanently. 🐾❤️🐾
My thoughts exactly both their adoptions brought a tear to my eye, I was so happy and to see them both strutting their stuff as Sheriff and Deputy of the Farm, is a wonderful sight to see. ❤️
Roscoe has always been one of my favorites. He has such a big heart. I love his and Freddo's relationship. He truly wants to protect his family. No fence will come between him and his duty to protect his family. Yet he can be so gentle and kind with the kids. It is cool how he will grumble when he talks. His grumbles mean so many things. Like I love you. You guys slow down around the kids. Let's not get this out of hand troops. What a success story.

I have always thought of him as His Excellency Grumble-Duke, Roscoe Evans: part Special Forces warrior bodyguard, part sniper, part Zorro, always a goofy lover. What a Farm boy!! 💕💕💕💕

Rosco has come such a long way. He just needed someone who understood him and treated him accordingly. Thank goodness for Dee saving him from his fate and The Farm for agreeing to work with him. Definitely a Win-Win situation. 🐾💞🐾💞

Hi all! Even in the early Roscoe days, I knew Luke would work his magic to reveal a good hearted pup. Ups and downs, of course, but, the result is a pup who adores his dad, mom, and the pack. Bravo, Roscoe, you beautiful boy!!
Rosco, also known as "Mr. Grumbles", or "The Deputy".... definitely has earned his positions and our affection.
Too bad you didn't include the clip about where he stands in the pack, especially as it relates to Freddo going out to the fence and Roscoe staying on deck close to the family as the last line of defense. Was a very eye opening video & awesome example when the delivery guy showed up....that's exactly how it went down. Freddo is on point and Roscoe on the porch watching intently making sure Aunty Sam & the kids were protected.
Roscoe is a big, handsome, lovable, talkative dog. He's home with the best family on earth. 💙

I don't think I heard the info about Rosco being from a police raid. Poor guy, that would have been so confusing. He's a big, misunderstood cuddlebug -- really big. So glad to see him so happy.

Hard to believe it's been 10 months since Roscoe came to the farm and the transformation has been astounding! All because of Luke and the Farm fam! I shed a few tears on this one but so glad he's in his forever home, hugs to you all 🥰

This was such a fun look back. Rosco with all the toys in his mouth in the pool. One of my favorite moments of the rescue dogs progress. So funny. So happy for him and for you guys. Thank you for believing in him and showing him the farm way.

Sam you have a wonderful way with children, and animals, and words. Your description of Roscoe and his inner soul gives such insight into this gentle giant who would, indeed, give his life for his family. If proof were needed, Luke's training methods work. Roscoe is now the happiest most loveable gentle dog. People who care about dogs watch these videos.......sadly people who abuse dogs and don't understand them, will not.
Roscoe was a Big dog and his fierceness was only equal to the love and protection he was able to give to the Evans’ family. He is a beautiful, sleek tiger and agile, fast and ready to be the protection for his family. He and Freddo figured out their roles pretty quickly! ❤️😘🐾🐾😎😎
Deputy Rosco is one of my favorite Farm rehab stories! His transition was gobsmacking! Good on ya Luke and Jase for all the one-on-one work with this giant lap tiger and Olympic dock diver! 🥰
My fav memory of Rosco is a recent one, cuddling on the lounge with his oldest sister.
Oh I remember those early days. Lots of HARD work, blood, sweat & tears. And look at him now! Luke, your insight into the minds of these pups is truly amazing. I can’t tell you how much these videos mean to so many of your fans around the world ❤
I get a kick that now his growling is what he does when he is rolling on the ground by himself when he is happy. He is quite the vocal one. I am glad he doesn't seem to be trying to police the other dogs as much as he was when first integrated into the pack and seems more relaxed. He does love his cuddles.
I adore Roscoe and his many grumbles, his unawareness that he in NOT in fact a small lap dog, and his need to always be superglued to Luke’s side. ❤️ It’s so great to see him know how to be happy and love life with his pack.
I adore Rosco. He was so uncomfortable and not knowing what to do so he defended himself. His talking gets to me. I miss my cats and dogs from over the years. Unfortunately I’m now looking after the elderly in my family so I can’t dedicate the time to animals. I get my fix of dog and cat this way. I also watch dogs and cats with fluent pet. It’s with buttons so dogs can use words they have learned and talk by hitting buttons. Edit: He has come so far thanks to your help. He’s come into his own dog. Thank you. I laughed when Sam said " he looks pretty pleased with himself" and Roscoe looked at her, I said out loud "how can you tell he has resting grumpy face" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 we've met a couple of Roscoe dogs ( same colourings) both were beautiful.

What you do with those shelter dogs that are doomed is truly amazing. ❤
He has been on some journey. I am sure it would be hard to believe if we could understand him telling stories of his past. It is amazing how much he has grown from when he first came to the farm. I must say, it was pretty obvious and no surprise when uncle luke announced you guys were keeping roscoe. They really became a bonded pair. So glad roscoe found his way to your family. I love seeing how he and many of the dogs living their best life because of you guys 💙🐯 🐟 beautiful tiger fish he is!!

I’m not sure that I agree with you, Sam. You said you adopted Roscoe. I’d say it was the other way round and that Roscoe decided The Evans Family were going to be his. Tank and Chopper were exactly the same.

He is jealous, but not aggressively jealous, He just squirms his way in to be the closest. He is a beautiful boy in every way.
The deputy sheriff is a great asset to the farm. I think he is the canine equivalent of Gary Cooper. Handsome, quiet and very capable!! Love you Rosco. I'm so happy that you were rescued from the drug dealers and that you are now living your best life as an Evans family member!❤️

Rosco loves the Evans' family far too much to be adopted by anyone else. He would be miserable, unhappy, and think he did something wrong. Everything about Rosco is big, and that includes his feelings. I love how vocal he is too, in fact there's not one thing I don't love about Rosco. He has my heart (Chance too), and I don't think Luke that you really had it in you to say goodbye to Rosco, and I certainly can't blame you for keeping him for yourselves, I would if I could. I remember when Roscoe would jump around Holly and Nevaeh when they were off lead as if to say “ Come on mates, this side of life is amazing” Now, Chance is living it, and I couldn’t be happier for everyone of them.

Loved this video about Rosco. I have two primary memories of him. First was his early days in the pool when he stuffed three toys in his mouth. A food-insecure person will over-eat when given the opportunity, since they don't know when and where their next meal will come. Rosco didn't stuff three pool toys in his mouth just because he could. He didn't know if he ever would have the chance to play in the pool and grab toys again. My second major memory was when he started standing on Luke's feet, guarding him. My immediate thoughts were that I earnestly hoped y'all would adopt Roscoe, because he clearly had adopted you. I'm so grateful you adopted him, and your continuing maintenance training to help Rosco stay a healthy leader in your pack.
My husband also fell in love with Roscoe early on. He said that if we lived in Australia we would have applied to adopt him. Of course, he says that about all the dogs. 😆
I always think of Rosco on his second beach trip. He was using all his strength to plough through the waves. I don't think he'd had the chance to experience utilising his body strength before and it seems to make a huge difference to dogs when they can. And Rosco can run and run all day now and feel exhilarated. I love that he get the zoomies, too! Luke recognised early on that Rosco was misunderstood and should never have been on 'death row'. It's great to see their bond of love and respect. Tank and Chopper were similarly bred to be scary, trophy dogs and were given up by the breeders for being total love bugs! The Evans family and the farm are pretty safe now with all the warning dogs, the boundary guard, Freddo, and the final barrier of Rosco standing tall at the house. Love that dog and this post. I'm so happy for Roscoe. My heart is sad for all the aggressive dogs in shelters who don't have the opportunity for long-term training and socializing to become the dogs they really are, like Roscoe. I hope your work can change some minds about dogs like Roscoe and they get a chance to love and be loved, as he has.

@@gailcastl7699 I just love Freddo and Roscoe they are a wonderful embassador for thier breeds and it's all thanks to Luke and Sam and the team and Dee for calling Luke and asking him for help ,i know alot of people like little dogs ,I do too but for me personally I have a thing for my large gentle Giants , I was thinking if gaurdain breed puppies show up at Dee shelter,if Luke will do a puppy program for them,so they can get socializing and desensitizing them from very young and they can start to get a puppy training course ,I know it's impossible to do that for every liter that comes through Dee shelter but it's really important for gaurdain breeds, they will definitely benefit from it in the long run, and they will less likely be rehomed as they get older too ,it makes me so mad people see a cute puppy and they will think I will have a good gaurd dog but they don't have no idea on what they are doing because they didn't do thier research on the breed and when the dogs get Big and strong and harder to handle they give up on them and alot of people that go to a shelter are afraid of a huge dog that has issues so they either get passed over or they get returned ,it's truly heartbreaking ,I love my Mastiff's they are so loving and affectionate I wished I knew how to train dogs like Luke I and I had the room I would go to shelters and help all gaurdain working line breed of dogs ,so many of them get put down,it's so unfair ,thank goodness for Luke or we wouldn't have Roscoe and Freddo and some of the other dogs that he saved from death row we wouldn't have our beautiful girl Shadow ,I think about everything that they are doing to help these dogs and I can never thank them enough Thiers not enough words to say how much I appreciate and admire everything that they do ,these videos bring me so much joy every day the farm does look like heaven on earth ,i wished we could all go there just to spend the day with the dogs , lilly with her sticks and bandit and Freddo with squeeky pigs I bet the camera doesn't give these dogs true justice I bet they are more beautiful in person , Roscoe is a gorgeous boy I love his markings and his color brindle and he got real soulful eyes ,the way he looks at Luke with so much love in his eyes ,I love it ,I don't think Roscoe ever had love shown to him before he really does take it all in and he can never get enough of it ,I love his grumbles ,I thought it was the most cutest thing ever when Freddo did his Rotty purr because he wanted pets on a another video that just melted my heart ,these precious fur babies went from the most unwanted dogs to the most loved wanted dogs and they are truly greatful these dogs do show their loyalty and gratitude for being saved it is so beautiful to me I hope you have a wonderful blessed day

It is thanks to you that Rosco has revealed his heart, just like many others, the last one being Chancy. He is a beautiful dog, elegant, with a look full of love and the first (I think) to have launched the fashion of "I do not get out of the pool like everyone else" it is a real pearl, a real nanny, a dog love, very strong and so endearing. It's crazy the change, when love, patience and experience intervene. He has finally found his place in a wonderful family who believed in him and gave him back. I love Roscoe, I could see his loyalty to Luke and the family very early on, his loyalty is maybe the strongest than any other dog in the Evans household. I have also noticed when you do the bush chats most of the dogs sit and face Luke while he's talking but Roscoe sits just in front or beside Luke like he's saying.. I'm here next to Luke because I'm his right hand man.
The friendship between him and Freddy in the beginning when no one else would play with him was beautiful, I think it was also a big milestone for him❣️although being a mountain of a dog I didn’t see the shepherds give him a wide birth like they do Chance (I understand the reason for it) Roscoe just needed the right leaders (pack included) to give him direction and show him the way to Puppy Paradise❣️🐾. Rosco has become the Mastiff he should be. We lost ours 2 years ago and watching Rosco is just a joy. They are truly gentle giants when brought up correctly to be the goofy dogs who will guard their people without a second thought. Best dogs, happy Rosco is a joy.
Absolutely love this dog! Just another case of a misunderstood dog that developed aggressive tendencies. I’m utterly amazed with PROPER training how dogs become what they are truly meant to be! I fell in love with him the moment I saw him, anyone else think he has cutest ears! From death row dog to Evans family! Now that’s an incredible movie!
There is so much to love about Rosco alright. His crazy eyes. His big body that gallops around in every kinda fashion. His love for cuddles. And of course his character that pops out different times plus not forgetting his poker face lol!! What a guy aye. All would have been missed it t wasn't for the Evans famz.💯💥
So happy for Rosco, but not overly surprised that he stayed where he called home right from the start. The journey of Roscoe's rehabilitation is truly heart warming. So happy for him that he has found his forever home with you Luke and you Sam and your lovely family and pack. To see the hard work and patience it took to get him to the place he is now is truly amazing. You never gave up on him. You gave him the opportunity to live his best life. I’m a huge huge huge fan of Freddo and Roscoe. Somehow I missed the video of it being said that Roscoe is here to stay. Am so happy I got to see it in this video and I ugly cried for a few minutes even that I know he was adopted and is home!!! Still just thrills my heart!

Deputy Rosco's journey has been one of highs and Lows, now of course he is the Farm Deputy Dog and Sheriff Freddo's right paw man. I can't wait to see the Gorgeous Chance graduate and find his forever home like Roscoe.

I can't believe I just saw this video. It was so gutsy of you to take in roscoe, chance, neveah, and molly. They were all scarey dogs, but sadly roscoe looked scariest of all. It was enlightening to watch all the work it took to bring out the wonder dogs that all 4 are. It was heart tugging to watch the muzzles come off and the 4 shelter dogs start leading their best dog lives. Roscoe is so happy being a companion dog. I still think he could swim across Sydney Harbor. roscoe is happy and he will be watching any young men who come to see Elle and Evie. ( I am old fashioned)
