We're all just so used to seeing a fat people all over the place that people who have a normal weight look dangerously malnourished.

    I'm a 63 year old white guy and this was the very first MTV video I ever saw (when MTV, literally, just went on TV... yeah, I said I was old). RIP Al. I will miss you! You were so good!

      MTV's racist policies were still in place in 1981. The firsr black artist to be played on MTV was MJ for his Thriller lp in 1983. So you didnt see this on MTV in 81

      It's a long tradition in American Black Music and began with jazz singers mostly using the tonality of flat trumpets. But there are people all over the world who incorporate unusual timbra into vocals. See Nina Hagen, Yma Sumac etc

    Al Jerrau is a master of jazz as well as contemporary music.. He is also a multiple Grammy Winner.. Just some quick facts to introduce this true legend to the fans... Get to know Al Jerreau, and you will realise that they don't create "music gods" like him anymore..

    I miss Al Jarreau. I was probably around 15 when this song was released in the 80's and Mornin' hit the radios hard. This video would have been way too progressive for MTV but I'm glad I've gotten to see it now tonight at age 55.

    I used to HATE HATE HATE this song as a child. Now I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. It reminds me of a recent trip with my brother to Miami.

    Love the keyboard riff at the 1:03 mark. Al had the best musicians around and they had to be to play for him

      Exactly. The musicians were mostly a mix of Jay Graydon, David Foster, Tom Canning, members of Toto, Mr Mister, and Bill Champlin from the band Chicago.

    I was 12 yrs old when this vid came out. It still looks like their having a lot of fun. Kids can't have fun like this any more.

    Childhood memories..... and when they had REAL DANCERS...that was Broadway Dancers... that's who I saw in 80's videos.

    One of the best happy song I know in the history of mankind....I don't think one can say the same about its video...:)... it is just extremely 80's, can't take that from it :)

    I met Al in Europe years ago while flying between London and Bilbao, Spain. I got bumped into 1st class, and there he was. He was sitting behind me. Needless to say, we made conversation while sipping some killer Spanish red wine. He was beginning his European tour, he said... Great guy, awesome conversation, full of insights about touring. He's has always been one of my favorite jazz musicians... R.I.P...
