10:40 Not necessarily, Serie herself implied Lernen had a chance of winning. And here we see his attacks punch through Frieren's defensive spells three times while barely slowing down, and this was simply him requesting the duel, not trying to kill her.
Ubel technically killed two first class mages already. So she is special for sure
Denken's wife died alright, his story will maybe be featured in season 2... And Serie's instincts are always right, Lernen most definitely has a change against Frieren. Serie is much older and stronger than Frieren so she knows what she's talking about.
Sadly there is no official confirmation of S2, despite what it says at the end there. Of course there's plenty of speculation, but nothing official so far. (The manga is currently on hiatus as of last month, but there's plenty of existing material for an anime S2.)

Glad you guys loved Freiren! The anime only covered the first 1/3rd of the manga, and the rest of the ongoing story really blows the anime out of the water. Would highly recommend!

i would love to watch a spin off series of himmel the hero after defeating demon king. there is like 50 years gap
actually the magic given by serie was really given which means that serie doesn't have that magic anymore because it was given, because of this she is a bit annoyed because she doesn't have magic for loundry anymore
it really is unique and the soft animation so relaxing. I wonder if u guys would react to world triggers which just get better season by season

Frieren got banned for surfing 💀
Frieren didn't pass because she is weak for an elf. The others that passed are strong for humans , Serie isn't going to pass frieren just because Frieren is strong when u compare her to humans rather than her own race
Not her own race but her own age. Imagine Frieren being an 20 years old elf Series could not force her much but Frieren more than thousand years old. With those ages she could do anything better than just focus supressing her mana but she choose to learn suppressing mana first over learn new spell or quickly improve her base mana. So more than thousand years old but Frieren training style didn't meet Series expectation plush Frieren never imagine being a first class mage so she failed
Nah that's a first-class mage exam. Frieren is definitely overqualified. Reminder that she has the archimage title. She just have a beef with the examinator lmao
Like Flamme, she doesn't match Serie's expectations. They are both weak compared to their true potential selves.
Still they achieved at least as much as Serie herself, and in my opinion she doesn't like that idea, not out of jealousy tho (Don't ask me why I can't understand tsunderes).

She has that much latent potential, remaining untapped cz she has chosen to restrict her mana over 1000yrs.
I mean how can u explain the elf race being almost extincted by demons then ? Everyone of them ain't as skilled as Serie or Frieren.
I’d say that Serie failed Frieren purely due to idealogical differences between them. The people she passed were not necessarily the ones with the most talent but those who exhibited guts and ambition. The only exception was Fern whose talent was too great for Serie to ignore. Frieren being relatively unambitious and peaceful rubs Serie the wrong way so she’d never acknowledge her regardless of Frieren’s achievements or abilities.
Serie never says Frieren is weak for her age, rather that she is "relatively unskilled" for her age, due to how singular in scope most of her training has been.
As for why she wasn't passed, Serie looks for more than power. Aside from ideological clashes with Frieren, there is also the aspect that First Class Mages work for the Continental Magic Association and thus for Serie, and that is something Serie knew Frieren would not be willing to do on her own.
