At 77, I'm old school too. I'd been listening to Elvin & Charlie do 'What The Hell'. Though it's from 2020, 'What The Hell' is as relevant now as it was then! Post-election blues for the soul-wearying loss that allowed 45 to become 47! What the Hell, indeed!
First heard Elvin Bishop on Paul Butterfield`s Born in Chicago album in 1965 and Charlie Musselwhite' s Stand Back album a couple of years later. Still listening and loving these guys today.
watch for the release of a new movie titled Born in Chicago about Elvin, Charlie Mike Bloomfield and the cats that played with them as they carry on the blues tradition passed on to them by the Chicago blues masters Muddy, Howlin, etc.
Two great musicians, wow! I just thought I could play blues harp.I just bought their new album 100 years of blues and it proves that they have got it down! Willie P.
Saw Elvin at the Marin Civic Auditorium for a New Years show. Probably 1977. He was great. "Look at Elvin bishop sitting on a bale of hay. He aint good lookin but he shore can play" Charlie Daniels.
Both these cats are a big reason I became a Harp player myself.East West album of Butterfield and Charlie's Stand by Me (I think ) 1st album. still have them.
Anytime you see two old guys on stage and one ask " what key" you can absolutely guarantee youre getting real deal talent..

I saw these guys when we are all a bunch younger in the late 60s in S.F. Still love 'em and I'm still playin' too.

Nothing like yapping during pure musical greatness.
