    If you mean you cannot afford a wedding because you want to pay extravagantly for it, then no, but nobody really needs that. You can have a very simple one and be done with that. Fancy wedding doesn't guarantee happiness.

      Those who spend a great deal on weddings statistically have a significantly higher divorce rate. Just read this the other day. My guess is because they are people who don’t have their priorities straight.

      The mother, who is older, has said that the house is too much for her. A young couple wants privacy. He didn't say the money was for the wedding alone. In reality, the young couple need a place of their own, and there's a good chance that some of the money will be spent on new digs. Can you imagine newly weds in this zoo? Both parents, the sister and her kids? It would be awful.

The right buyer will love it-a person or couple that likes to be outside in the garden taking care of flowers and plants. And no grass to have to mow! Bonus! ✨💖✨The son of the homeowners states that he didn’t want an open house, because only neighbors tended to come look. So what? The neighbors are free, word of mouth advertising. They might have friends or family who want to move in to the neighborhood . It’s good to have someone on the block who can tell others. And as far as using the proceeds for a wedding? Whatever. But his bride should take note: There is no doubt it was his decision to put off their marriage for this sale. He said he keeps her in hand-though he did have the grace to look a touch embarrassed. Marriage is about a future together, shared decisions, and the understanding that compromise is not capitulation. (Celebrating almost 40 years to the same guy.) I wish them the best of luck.

    The existing living area wall color (as seen on my screen) was just fine, perfect really, much better than the blue. Not sure the slip-covers improve the sofa and chair. The dining table wood is gorgeous! I'd have left all 6 of the dining chairs. The peeling paint outside the balcony door should have been fixed; not much to that. As for open houses, most realtors in my area (SE US) say they are not effective for the time spent and expose your home to security issues. I refuse to allow it. Only interested buyers WITH a realtor and no young children are allowed inside my home while I am living there.

      @@Mmmmk815 I do understand that; as a single mother with no family around you don't have to tell me about the burden of having to drag your children around just to get through life. I just didn't go anywhere I didn't have to until kids were school age. I have never allowed an open house or young children. I sold my first house under those conditions; it sold in literally hours. The next house, same story, but took 3 months (in a down economy). The buyers brought their two little kids to the closing and they were all over the place with no engagement by the parents; the attorneys were distracted trying to preserve the artwork on their walls and pulling them down from the side tables. I always wonder if the realtors actually honor my request. I will insist on no young children in my current house unless I have already moved out, which I have planned to do when the time comes.

They postponed the wedding party until June so anyone coming from abroad could spend a few days, here, in the summer. Worked out well. January was full of blizzards. Flights were cancelled. That's what we did. We lived in an apartment for a year. I saved toward a house--which we still have almost 16 years later. We had a small, but pretty, wedding. I'm crafty, so I did almost everything--my dress, my Matron of Honor's dress, the invitations, the decorations, the favors, and we made and frozen food (my husband was a chef), and partially catered the rest with fancy party trays from the grocery store, and had a buffet. I love Autumn, so we had it in October, and had an elegant Autumn theme. Maybe it wasn't Martha Stewart level, but it was still nice--all for $2800. My In-Laws also bought the delicious wedding cake from a fancy baker where they lived. Close relatives gifted us money to put toward the down-payment for the house. It's always so nice to have them visit the house they helped us to get!

    They don't show any of the apartment below at all. I'd think that would be a major selling point, because it would generate income and help pay the mortgage. But they barely mention it! What's going on with that. Also, it feels like some audio has been removed. They never talk about where this house is located, nor what a modified price would look like! How over-priced was it? Not many houses can boast 5 bedrooms. Does that include the apartment downstairs? Completely separate living quarters in a house is a big deal, it can't be compared with houses that don't offer that feature, no matter what color the drapes are! Maybe the parents want to rent the basement from the new owners, and no one wants to buy a house with rental occupants that used to be the owners. Without seeing the basement apartment, this episode has missing information that could help explain why it's not selling. I admit it was too cluttered, but a serious buyer should have been able to look past the furnishings.

    What a selfish son!
    Where will his parents live when it's sold?
    The house looked much better after the makeover.

      Some committed couples stay together and never bother with marriage. It's not like they aren't living together or at least "visiting" a lot. Mostly, they probably want their own place and have decided there are advantages to being legally married. Whatever, the circumstances, they all are going their own ways and that's a reasonable thing to do.

    Did the son BUY the house in order to sell it? What is it with these UGLY over stuffed couches???

    • @virginiamoss7045
      @virginiamoss7045 3 года назад +3

      I don't know who's name is on the title, but probably they all contribute to the mortgage and other expenses. Sounds like they all want to break up and go their own ways so it's time. As for the couches and chair, they were popular back in the 1980s. They were quite comfortable, but quite ugly.

      Sounds like he bought a house and had his family living with him until they all decided to move out to their own places.

      I thought the titles said "Homeowner's son", which to me means he is not the owner. I don't get why he is receiving the money from the sale if that's the case. What will his parents use to buy their next home? This episode makes no sense to me. Still watching so maybe it will be explained...

    • @virginiamoss7045
      @virginiamoss7045 3 года назад +1

      @@sheelfjohnson Perhaps the parents don't speak good English or don't know how to navigate the world of real estate so they appointed their son to make it happen because he is the most interested. That interest may be because the adult children are helping the parents by paying their fair of the father's mortgage even though they would rather be out on their own. There could be many scenarios. Maybe they all went in to "invest" (give money to the father for a down payment) in the house with the idea they would all save money and then make money when it was sold.

    Here is a suggestion since you are not thinking it right , find a girl that has the wedding done ! Can't believe you are selling your house to have the wedding done and your girl is fine with it?

      I don't understand why their big bathrooms only have tiny pedestal sinks. Why don't they have vanities and countertops? You never see a master bathroom with two sinks. We had a 9' long vanity in one of our houses and it was great. A small one is around 3' to 4' long which is a lot better than an almost rimless pedestal sink with no place to even put your toothbrush! Also, not having many upper cabinets in the kitchen. Their homes seem to be chopped up into smaller rooms, but, to be fair, that is typical in pre-1980s homes.

    Not a fan of the son. Selfish. How can you get married if you can't afford to pay for it yourself let alone pay for a rental home instead of bludging off your parents.
