I effing LOVE your RUclips channel. Recent amputee (right foot) and I took up short staff on a whim and found your channel.... Which also got me into Kali, so thank you for that too!
spinning IS actually functional. there is a source in Japanese history during the Nara revolution Nobunaga sent troops to quell a rebellion of monks. one famous monk crossed a burnt out bridge by jumping from pillar to pillar while doing staff spins to deflect on coming arrows of nobunagas archers. once across he was able to charge and route the archer unit so that his fellow monks could cross unhindered! also a account of a Yamamoto warrior using his Yari in the same fashion... to deflect oncoming arrows.
This sounds like something that needs to be tested on Mythbusters. "Can you (reliably) deflect arrows by spinning a staff?" Just like catching a sword in-between your hands was debunked, I'd wonder if this story was at all possible.
Your work is invaluable. The training was excellent. Thank you.
Thanks….lots of love I achieved this in just 1hr….well explained ❤
Why learn staff spins?? Because they’re FUN! Keep the fun in your stuff 💪🏻👍🏻
Purchased my first kali sticks and bo staff..new horizons in my martial journey ❤
