His pen game is so otherwordly, and I sincerely mean it when I say that. It took me a while to really appreciate the poetic value that Ka brings to his body of work. That being said, I'm yearning for a billy woods and Ka duet!
Ka ain’t that hard to get, though. He is an artist that you sit and listen to for the references, wordplay, and coded messages. Ka doesn’t make music. He makes literature.

The line "Felt weak for being in love like amour shouldn't." Hit so hard when you run it again as "like a moor shouldn't". It's an Othello reference and it blew me away.
It's surprising that instead of saying "he says it different" some of the guys didn't say/notice that Ka writes doubles. It's not just the wording it is the tiers of understanding. Not a line is wasted, and he skemes consistently (Myke alludes to it). He actually does a lot. Ka's wordplay is extraordinarily dense, but he delivers it very nonchalantly. It's extremely easy to miss if you aren't actively listening. For the most part, you have to read it, sometimes multiple times, to catch the double and triple entendres. What also makes things hard to catch as you're listening is that it's also very easy to get lost in his rhyme schemes. If you listen to Ka, be prepared to take notes and study.
Best pen in Music. The end. Full stop...all that shit. Let me say though...with Ka..you can listen on a surface level and just hear the mini-movie and the dope pen game and that makes it very good, but if you choose to you can do the work and read/take notes on the lyrics and connect all these lines and themes he laces you with. Surprised none of the guys said anything about decendants of Caine as coming from the crack era and our generation(s) being affected by how cocaine and addiction are a corrosive thread in the fabric of our minds and families. Listen to it with that frame of mind and it's bonkers good in its own right. Ka is a teacher/preacher and reacher (into your soul). He's like DOOM where literally I'm still pulling stuff from OPERATION DOOMSDAY that I didn't notice before and I've been listening since 1999. Ka IS THE BEST WRITER IN MUSIC. Bold statement be damned. Nobody does what he does. It's worth so much more that 20$ for any album he has released. Give him all the awards. Sadly, our society doesn't value what he does...if we did maybe we would be on a track to salvation instead of extinction. Sorry for the rant. Love the chamnel. Been with y'all since Open Mike Eagle turned me on to you guys. Feefo, I appreciate you trying. As you age more will be revealed. Love you guys. Stay safe and keep open minded. Spread love. Peace.
Dude ur just an idiot, no melody, no energy, no nothin but him spittin bars and a 5yr old makin a beat, wtf yall find good this in this 🤣🤣🤣🤣 cracks me up
Good call. And I think it goes back to a point that they mentioned in the review that in order to catch all of the references, you really have to read the lyrics. Feefo clearly didn't. 🤷🏾♂️
D2BII i disagree, Its up to the artist to paint the picture In KA’s case he speaks pretty plain and slow I assume from feefo’s perspective that ka is not flashy, so it may bot be appealing I did not like him until i found out he produces too Liked this album the most, every bar hits too hard Every thing he does sounds like a hook
@@exthechickenwing I don't see anywhere in the review where Feefo said that he couldn't connect because Ka isn't flashy. He literally said that he can't get into it because he feels like he's missing a lot of the meaning in the bars. Maybe he isn't up to snuff with his Christian mythology (a basic Google search of "Cain" would have told him everything he needed to know about the concept of the album). Maybe he can't parse out the double and triple meanings within just about every bar by just listening to it (which is why it makes sense to read the lyrics). Those things are the responsibility of the listener (especially if they intend to appraise the art's value). The main reason why I disagree with your argument is because we can easily point to someone like Benny the Butcher. Most people (including all of the reviewers on DEHH) consider him to be a dope rapper. He isn't necessarily a flashy rapper. He has a few flows, doesn't play around too much with tempo, and generally has a relatively basic rhyme scheme in his verses. His lyrics are much easier to digest because most of his lines are pretty literal or are deliberate and delivered in a way to drive home only one meaning. I can't recall Ka's music ever really being like that (except for Iron Works...maybe.) That isn't to say that his opinion doesn't matter when it comes to talking about accessibility (because it does matter--Ka will never really cater to rap fans that want bangers). But as far as discussing bars or poetic value, Feefo's opinion is extremely lacking.
I checked KA out because of this review. The first thing that comes to mind is that he's like spoken word given to us through a well made out, skillfully thought out project, if that makes sense...He's dope.
I do think it's deeper than just the fact that Cain killed his own brother, I think it also has to do with his relationship with his father and god. Ka relates that many times to his relationship with the state/society, at least that's what I interpreted.
Cain didn't just kill his on bro, he went on and had a family of killers who preached killing thereby mocking the place he was kicked out of Genesis 4:20
Rod as the guy behind the camera y super dope, but I also enjoy his reviews . He has a very honest opinion on any side of the spectrum. He can really like Drake and a the same time can dig deep on a great artist like Ka.
To me this is Ka's best, I think its also his darkest. A lot of the themes he discusses hit hardest this time, and the biblical tie-ins were maybe his most on point historical/mythical references so far.
I loved this album but I think I liked the production as a whole a lil better on Orpheus and grief pedigree. I’ve only given it one real listen through tho so that could very well change
Jarred Thorpe yeah the best production he had his whole career was on Orpheus vs. the Sirens, but I think his lyrics were better than ever here and considering that’s what I go to Ka for, it makes this his best album in my eyes.

I think your ‘if you’re watching’ section is really great. I can imagine that an artist would really benefit from that kind of direct address/advice. Your reviews are really well structured, all around, anyway
People hating on Feefo and I think there are some other reviews where it's fair to criticize but this aint it. Ka's lyrics are simple but hit heavy. Feefo didn't feel any emotional weight from any of the lines and that's not a lack of preparation that's just his personal preference. Ka is the shit but I dont think anyone here would say that he has a style that resonates with everyone.
Have you listened to Billy Woods? Sincere question cause Ka and DOOM are both fantastic but Billy is just something else to me. His body of work is huge and he consistently delivers. you gotta hear Billy if you haven’t
All ima say is, I heard "Sins of the Father" back in November for the 1st time and was immediately floored. Every now and then has a gravitational pull, that is absolutely powerful. 💯
It's so funny how everyone else is like "this is super dope, AOTY nominee" and Feefo is out there like "nah Bros, it doesn't vibe with me". I agree with the four Bros, this album was my favourite rap album of 2020. Ka's bars are supreme. The sound is beautiful, the concept is amazing. This album really got me to dig into Ka's discography. What's crazy though is that there are bars I'm only getting now that you guys discussed them. Ka is one of the finest lyricists rap has ever seen imo.
I feel like Feefo just doesn't know what's going on whenever any project dips into anything beyond surface level and I kind of feel bad for him since everyone else seems to get everything fairly well enough and he's just left behind lol
Great review, explained most of the themes but left enough to discover by listening. I bought this day one, Ka is killing it with the reflective content and well structured bars.
Yeah, Cain killed Abel because of his jealous towards Abel after God prefered his offer (the lamb/flock of sheeps, idk).instead of the collection of grains (Cain's offer).
I think another one of the meanings in this album’s title is that himself and his peers are Descendants of Cain (as in Cocaine) which contributes to much of the issues Ka speaks about in his music. Fucking dope album man.
I also don't care who your favourite artist is, he's not better than Ka. From Iron Works to this, the man has a SOLID discography. It's a pity that the goat status is only given to mainstream artists
My favorite artist is Billy Woods. If it has to be a competition, I believe Billy is better at the end of the day but I also love Ka. Billy has a bigger discography than Ka, the albums are longer, and I feel like he is consistently at or above Ka’s level of poignance. Definitely check him out if you haven’t
I think Ka's music does hit different when you read the lyrics. The more you listen to it, the more you pick up on everything he's saying. All the tracks are fire. Still on replay.
Yall gotta review Killah Priest new album, he took the same approach like Ka with on it, a masterpiece no other apbum in hip hop sound like it #rockettonebula 🚀❄️
Once again a very dope review!! This is my album of the year so far. Have you guys considered reviewing the new DJ Preservation joint (Easter Medicine, Western Illness) ? KA is also featured on it🔥🔥
Ka is really in a league of his own. I became a fan through honor killed the samurai and followed everything hes done ever since. Hes honestly one of my favorite rappers ever. Definitely top 3 for this generation for me.
It definitely took me quite a few listens to fully digest this and I'm glad that I was able to find this album while I'm still in a mindset where I want to learn more about life.
Listening to Ka projects is reading an incredible novel that you have to read over and over and still can’t put it down. Listening to mainstream hip hop albums is never missing a Fast and Furious sequel because it has the most hype and explosives. I guess.
Hey Myke, just to correct you about the Cain and Abel story. God rejected Cain's offering because he just gathered together some scraps from the harvest to present to God, whereas Abel took the best lamb of his flock to offer up to God. It wasn't a "human sacrifice" like you said. Thanks for the review !!
Totally missed this came out! Thank you guys for all your consistent, dope content. Can't wait for the RTJ4 review and I hope y'all do new Flatbush ZOMBiES EP.
"Our heroes sold heroin" was such a great line because after all the metaphors and comparisons he makes throughout whole song, he ends with no metaphor in that line. He states the whole song and concept in one line. A line that would have been taken for granted and has been from so many artists in so many ways. But where he chose to place it, made the impact so craaazy
This is the first time I ever heard of him. I listened to the album and here is my issue. Ka is a great wordsmith....but this isn’t music per say! This is more like spoken word with some noise in the background. So as much as I can appreciate the literature, and the incredible messages, and gems he drops....I personally always wanna hear dope production with a great lyricist in pocket.
I agree with you to a certain extent, although I think the instrumentals are just barely important enough that I would still consider it music. Interesting point!
The production suits the theme and is dope, minimalistic, helps the lyricism stand out because there is a lot to unpack, this is something you have to take your time with, light a candle sound cancelling headphones and just meditate.
The connection with the cain theme and the real world history of early Americans using the mark of cain as a justification for racism is some powerful shit
God didn’t want a human sacrifice. He rejected Cain’s grain offering because he was stingy with it. He accepted Abel’s produce offering because he gave it generously. Cain was jealous and killed him. As far as I remember.
As someone raised in devout moslem household, the line from unto the dust hit me the hardest. Y'all played the dozens, my favorite cousins spent they youth in prisons They names known, came home, now the house got two religions Peace be with you (peace be with you), wa alaikum salaam (wa alaikum salaam) Make sure that piece be with you, laced in your palm Peace be with you (Assalam mu alaikum) is a greetings used by moslems to other people regardless of their religion. If you are moslem and hear someone said it, you have to answer it, because basically the person who said 'Assalam mu alaikum' just prayed for you. And it is a custom that when someone do you a favor, you have to return it at least on the same level if you can not do more. Tying this line to the next (Make sure that piece be with you, laced in your palm) turn it 180 degrees. From a custom based on giving and peace to violence. This is why Ka will always be my favorite rapper and I have to listen to his record exclusively.
I do want to point out that most of those Album of the Year comments were before RTJ4 and Alfredo came out which are the only 2 albums ahead of Descendants of Cain imo
Idk if you guys haven't already been told about it, but you should review Stove God Cooks Reasonable Drought, the joint is HARD Cooks and Roc did a phenomenal job

Feefo didn't feel any emotional weight from any of the lines and that's not a lack of preparation that's just his personal preference. Ka is the shit but I dont think anyone here would say that he has a style that resonates with everyone.
Gotta check this one out ✌🏽
Such a good album.
every time i liste to this album i discover a new jewel from Ka the street poet
Ya’ll ain’t mention one of the dopest lines “holdin’ court, won’t let the control in alt-delete us” 🤦🏿♂️🔥
Ka and Doom are the best pens in the game imho
Have you listened to Billy Woods? Sincere question cause Ka and DOOM are both fantastic but Billy is just something else to me. His body of work is huge and he consistently delivers. you gotta hear Billy if you haven’t
@@Hawkeye42nd Ka, Doom, Billy, RAP Ferreira project could break the globe. Beats by Alchemist, Madlib, Kenny Segal
First Ka album and I absolutely loved it! Can't wait to go through his discography.
Ka's verse on that Navy Blue album was amazing
‘Preciate the heads up. Missed that feature. Got keep my KA consumption at 100%
Agree, and that entire navy blue album was amazing
Great review, explained most of the themes but left enough to discover by listening. I bought this day one, Ka is killing it with the reflective content and well structured bars.
Myke’s a little off with the Cain & Abel story. It wasn’t a human sacrifice, Abel gave his best lamb I believe. Just letting you know.
Yeah, Cain killed Abel because of his jealous towards Abel after God prefered his offer (the lamb/flock of sheeps, idk).instead of the collection of grains (Cain's offer).
I love watching Beezy get hyped about a project, especially when I agree with everything he's saying
I think another one of the meanings in this album’s title is that himself and his peers are Descendants of Cain (as in Cocaine) which contributes to much of the issues Ka speaks about in his music. Fucking dope album man.
The comparisons he makes with the land of nod(east of eden) and the hoods/ghettos is rlly interesting
@@Hawkeye42nd I find it crazy that those two haven't made a track together yet
Ka is one of the most humble guys out there.
Feefo crazy. There’s a whole ass line “brothers killin brothers descendants of Cain”
It’s hard to just pick 5 songs from this album because this entire album is incredible!
Man hope we get some Pop Smoke reviews this week.
Ka Descendants of Cain is a dope as project..its number 2 right behind Stove God..Fefo should expand his ear more imo
Myke C-town rocking candyman pt.1 shirt. lol. That movie still creeps me out.
i love is so fire. the way he reminisces on his queen touches me
One of my fav of his. Love the Cain and Abel theme
Heard a snippet of a song and I was blown away!
You heard me? A snippet.
@@luyolomify i suggest you hear the album bro, Killah Priest is very talented and overlooked
I guess.
no views to 11 likes. you love to see it
Hey Myke, just to correct you about the Cain and Abel story. God rejected Cain's offering because he just gathered together some scraps from the harvest to present to God, whereas Abel took the best lamb of his flock to offer up to God. It wasn't a "human sacrifice" like you said. Thanks for the review !!
Another great video, loved hearing how yall connected personally
Totally missed this came out! Thank you guys for all your consistent, dope content. Can't wait for the RTJ4 review and I hope y'all do new Flatbush ZOMBiES EP.
Def review that new Armand Hammer, love all the content thanks guys
“I break my chains when I’m around the pen”
"Our heroes sold heroin" was such a great line because after all the metaphors and comparisons he makes throughout whole song, he ends with no metaphor in that line. He states the whole song and concept in one line. A line that would have been taken for granted and has been from so many artists in so many ways. But where he chose to place it, made the impact so craaazy
KA's pen game is too strong for feefo
Thank You for being consistent with the content during quarantine. Loved this.
Feefo doesn’t understand the album because it doesn’t bump in the whip
God didn’t want a human sacrifice. He rejected Cain’s grain offering because he was stingy with it. He accepted Abel’s produce offering because he gave it generously. Cain was jealous and killed him. As far as I remember.
As someone raised in devout moslem household, the line from unto the dust hit me the hardest.
Y'all played the dozens, my favorite cousins spent they youth in prisons
They names known, came home, now the house got two religions
Peace be with you (peace be with you), wa alaikum salaam (wa alaikum salaam)
Make sure that piece be with you, laced in your palm
Peace be with you (Assalam mu alaikum) is a greetings used by moslems to other people regardless of their religion.
Loved this review as always. I am hoping that you will review the new project of "Medhane" called "Cold Water". Very Jazzy, Lo-Fi cool Hip/Hop album!
Idk if you guys haven't already been told about it, but you should review Stove God Cooks Reasonable Drought, the joint is HARD Cooks and Roc did a phenomenal job
Waiting for that RTJ album review
That new "Ka"is next level stuff as well
i don't know who ka is and i didn't listen to the album but just from the lines they quoted dawg i can see this guy is quality
RIP KA 🕊️
being in love like amour shouldnt also means armour and also means a moor, like othello. most beautiful triple entendre dude was like no other
Yall haven't done Stove God Cooks Reasonable Drought yet? Thats 1 feefo will feel for real thats still number 1 for me right now then KA
Everything on Reasonable Drought is 🔥🔥🔥 except for the album cover
