Wow, this takes me back! When I was broadcasting FM radio a few years back, I'd modify my stereo audio files in Adobe Audition to create a MPX signal to send to my transmitter. Audition has a *modulation* feature, so it's easy to create a 38kHz DSB-SC signal once the audio has already been matrixed to Mid and Side. Thanks for the video! EDIT: This video has given me the idea of making a video about FM stereo encoding using software, as well as hardware designs for a simple transmitter. I'll start on it now! :)
That would be good, i must look for it as I only ever managed a crude stereo encoder using a 4053 and 4060 IC and 19KHz crystal. It certainly worked as it separated L and R on the receiver perfectly and give the pilot tone.
Great video!... bit over my head. I've a question about recombining the L & R into mono especially from stereo IC chips. Can you just connect the L & R output pins or is there more to it?
@@AllAmericanFiveRadio You'll have to forgive my ignorance. I'm still new to electronics as I only developed the interest about a year ago, or so. As in most fields of study, the more I learn, the more I recognize my own ignorance. There is so much to learn and your clear and concise videos have been, and continue to be, such a big help. Sincere thanks for the education, and especially for taking the time to reply to my, what must seem, inane queries.

@@AllAmericanFiveRadio Will do! Thanks! Believe it or not, my dad was an Air Force radar engineer. He was always trying to interest me in electronics, but you know how that goes... At 50 years old I have finally developed an interest. Dad, who passed many years ago, would be pleased... I wish he were still around as I have a million questions that he could surely answer.

There is also software called "Stereo Tool" which will do it for you in real time.
The sound card in your computer must be set to 192 KHz in order to do this.

Great experiment and demonstration. If there was a "like x100" button, I'd click it! Thanks!
Thanks
Agreed!
Great explanation on the details of FM stereo multiplex decoding .
Thanks
Explained simply and concise .. good tutorial
Thank you
What an excellent demo. Thank you very much.
Thanks
So happy that he shared his knowledge! Rip
Thank you. and your welcome.
Very interesting Rick...Thank You!
Thanks
nice video. explains some that intrigued me. keep em coming. 73, ad0am
Thanks
Good demo.
Thank You.

You could do that at the chip, but most manufacturers do that in the audio amplifier.

Hi. You heave great videos. Pleas can you write hear links for phasing, sampling. For fm stereo encoder.
THANKS
That would be digital, I'll look.
