i actually think i had mos burger about 3 years ago. kind of just went in and ate without knowing what it was so i don't remember exactly, but i do remember thinking the burger seemed more like a sausage patty than beef
i dont share the same sentiment. i would always prefer mos burger "fresh burger" over mcdonalds "cheesburger" or burger king "whopper jr" any day of the year. i consider this just nitpicking, for me mos burger is not as bad as your video is expressing. imho mos burger is decent albeit a little pricey and serving is too small/little so you have to order 2 to be full/satisfied...
I've actually been in one in Kyoto just 2 hours ago. Cause they have soy patties and Mc Donald's here doesn't. I really liked it! I was just annoyed that they don't have the real Fanta Melon but some generic stuff that doesn't taste half as good... and it was more ice than drink. So 02/10 on the drink scale, 07/10 for the food.
I was talking with some passengers of mine the other day and talking about things people say are famous in a region but not being particularly good. So I thought of saying, which I did say this and they agreed, "Something can be famous and still be bad"
Suuuuupaaaa disagree. 😠 I’ve always liked Mos Burger. Not because of the hype, but because it actually tastes like food…unlike the processed stuff that they serve at “Mac”. Seriously, the only problem with Mos Burger is the fact that since the portions are small, you often end up having to go back an order again. (And maybe the name. Because, false advertising.)
FYI, from MOS BURGER website: 100% Japanese beef and pork patty, topped with original domestic cheese and sliced onions, all covered in savory rich "Japanese style soy sauce" made from domestic whole soy beans. Our Japanese style burger with crispy lettuce and juicy patty, basted in our original soy sauce and miso marinade.

Wow... The first time I've ever disagreed with Chris since... forever? Mos Burger is phenomenal and one of the best fast food places I've ever eaten at...
My favourite besides the random standalone joints like blacows in daikanyama was freshness burger. The Asakusa branch was totally awesome on every occasion I went.
A hamburger in Japan is served like a steak, no bun. Mos burger has patties in a bun, but what is in them is the mystery. The sauce is the thing. They are to burgers what Jack-in-the-Box is to tacos. Depends what time of the day you eat them.
So it's like Whataburger,Shake shack, and In N Out. If anything that patty looks bigger compared to most American fast food chains. Thats saying something.
I ate mos burger once in my life and never again, burger is small & people over hyped it when it just tasted the same as any other fast food restaurant
Mos used to be good. Back in 1980, they had damn good burgers in fact - lots of lettuce, decent size tomato, really good meat patties etc. The chips were good too. Fast forward to 2009, certain branches were still good but Mos had already lost its edge and in a big way. Even First Kitchen tasted better and FK is awful.
I found the Mos Burger I went to to be far better than my local McDonald's. But then again, that's just comparing a turd to a polished turd. I'd rather have a Five Guys even if it's overpriced. And you can eat far better things in Japan.
Tbh, I hadn’t known MOS Burger until an penpal (gaijin x Hunter) told me about it. Dude, their food is phenomenal. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one. The portion size is just right and everything is flavorful. The patty does look unappetizing but, I swear to you, it’s _delicious_ . The combinations of flavors are not only tasty but filling, satiated, and refreshing. I’m American. So bear with me. Burgers are our staple so… I haven’t even tried all the native burger joints but I would definitely go to MOS Burger again.
If I had to go to a Japanese meatloaf sandwich restaurant, I'd choose Freshness Burger. If I must go to Mos Burger or Lotteria, I get fried chicken sandwiches, which are fantastic.
I remember loving Mos Burger when I found one in Sydney because it was so different. “Wow, Japanese food in burger form with a rice patty!” But to be completely honest I probably would have enjoyed it just as much, if not more had it not been in burger form.😂
I thought he was being a hater but when I was in Osaka, I tried the MOS burger that wasn't too far from Rinkutown... I loved the sauce but the burger patty itself tasted like a burger patty from Walmart so it was a 5/10 Sometime later while I was headed to Toyosato. I ran into a Freshness Burger and my god it was awesome. I would have it again later at I think Shin-Osaka station.
Mos Burger used to be my favourite, because they have Asian sauce (Teriyaki sauce), yakiniku beef slices burger, and "rice buns" and the likes. If western people aren't very nitpicky about the definition of burger, having to be "burger" with beef patty - then you will have plenty of choice and treat. Judging Mos Burger by their western burger is like judging European and American ramen game by their instant ramen. When I first tried Mos Burger in Singapore back in 2001, I immediately liked it. McDonald's is boring, Burger King is just too confusing, and the rest are just the same American thing with slight twist. Mos Burger opened in Indonesia back in 2010s. And then it's gone a few years later, and I never missed it ever again. The thing with McDonald's is that you can eat it everyday and that's fine. They are not any special, but they are everyday food. Mos Burger however, is Asian "treat" food that your Asian grandparents would complain if you eat it too much. It is only good, if you misremembered how it tasted after 6 months or so. The patty is bland, putting too much highlight on the novel Japanese sauce. The fries is easily the wrong texture, probably like a cooked starchy styrofoam. It is as overrated as Osaka's streetfood like their style of okonomiyaki (same sauce game), and nothing-happening yakisoba.
