  • "As a storyteller you research, and then you get to this jumping off point. This is when the story happened to be written down. But who told it to the person who wrote it down? And who told it to that person? And who told it to that person? It just goes back and back in time. So that's sort of where this story comes from."
Tom Lee retells the medieval Welsh story of Gwion Bach, who becomes the great Bard Taliesin. No stranger to these tales, Tom has performed at the Yale Center for British Art (bit.ly/2OBcTTi) and other renowned institutions around the world. I know this story well, but it's lovely to have it performed, no matter the interpretation. The art of shape-shifting is known as 'fith fath'. Bless the Bards 😌

I like the way you tell stories but this story isn't the story of Ceridwen. Ceri had a boy and a girl. Her boy also wasn't messed up inside. Just appeared ugly. People judge harshly that's why she wanted to give him a potion that made him wise etc

Julien Glover does this for Beoewulf. It'' s captivating. This. Is. Too, but i'd give an ear to hear Julien retell Talesin. This man is a great storyteller. He is a shaper of modern myth. I like him. It's a bit of a "What the " but Robin Williams could have performed these tales esepicialy.. He has your attention. He inhabits the forms of the characters, blowing up. But can retain your attention to feel the smallest. The smallest sad emotion. Robin Williams sadly missed a calling. Transplant this brilliant guy for Robin Wiliams? Yep. I see it. Not to detract. It's a great rendition. Lawhead I admit was my gateway. A shame he just defaults to Wales.Robin Hood? Wales. Merlin? Atlantia by way of Wales. Hmm I sense a bias. I thiink he's canadian, but King Arthur? Welsh. Hmm ok. I buy into it. But his Robin hood series is blech. Wales bourne both Arthur and Robin Hood? Mkay. Talesin, I can see. Merlin and King Arthur. I see. Robin Hood? As a man from Nottingham no. It's a tale full of heresay sure but Wales? That's an anti English bias. "nothing good came from England it must be from outside" Set your book in the Midlands and set your anti Englishism aside. No Robin Hood is Welsh. It plays to my theme of douchebag English well. Lawhead is the British equivelent of Sapokowsi's work now doing the round on Netflix. Lawhead is mmmnnnno England's a wastehole. Mmmnnnooo. It was a contested battleground. Of some worth. Else no one would contest.

I love this story but do have an issue with someone who forgets that the H in front of Herb is not silent the same with the H in front of Here. After living for ten years in the US it is one of the things I found hard to come to grips with. Sorry mate but please after having to learn American English so I could fill out my Police reports instead of Australian English. It was hard as an adult having to learn how to write English in three different ways.
