- The official video about Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg, the largest model railway in the world, and one of the most successful tourist attractions in Germany. On the 1.300 m² large layout, far more than a thousand trains, aircrafts, cars and ships move about. A wonder of the world in miniature.

After 7 years we finally put up a new official Wunderland video!

Great vid.my only criticism is the vehicles move unrealistically. They start, stop and turn quite abruptly.
Hall9
Can you built city from malaysia ?
I don’t live in Hamburg, Germany. I live in California :(
I love this vid.my only word to say is to update it and make a highway.
What if somewhere in the display they built a miniature version of the Miniatur Wunderland with miniature people building miniature miniatures?
+Dave Myers well, they have a miniature version of their building with a miniature minature railway ;)
Inception bwaaaaaahhhh!
Dave Myers miniatureception

I love how Knuffingten Airport is probably more functional than a certain airport in Berlin.
+Euchale Ichselber #rekt
Florian Euchale Blum and probably nicer looking than LaGuardia
I posted this comment 1 and a half year ago, and it still holds true today.
Florian Euchale Blum Oh, it'll stay that way for quite some time, I assure you.
Which one? Not the Tegel one that's for sure, that airport is one of the best I have been to.
I went there on my trip to France, and I have to tell you, it was absolutely amazing. It was everything advertised and more! I can't wait to go again, and if you like models, or even if you just wanna have a great evening, this is the place to go! Honestly, I would go back to Germany just to see this! 100% absolute 10/10 everytime!
thepickle
It's in Germany
Yeah I went there to on my trip to Africa.. Very nice
Traveled all the way from Australia to see this! Saying that it was absolutely amazing is an understatement!
Nice that you were not disappointed!
Who also wants to shrink and explore this
Damn that comeback was gold.
NITAAH VAN WINKLE The borrowers should live here.
NITAAH VAN WINKLE me!!

I want to visit now 😊
If I ever travel to Germany, this will be my number 1 stop.
same here!

How wonderful it is to see the results of men and women creating worlds like this rather than tearing apart the one we live in.

Are you some kind of sad negativity-spreading bot?
AdaptorLive Negativity-spreading? No. But it is important to me that people wake up and understand that the west we know and love won't be there in a few years if we all choose to ignore what's going on around us.
+Universe
The West will be fine. The world is always changing. You seem too dramatic and a little obsessed, judging by the irrelevent comments you are spamming on a completely unpolitical video.
Being dismissive only validates your comfort in privilege
Only German and Swiss craftsmen could possibly create such a fantastic model.
Without doubt, they are the best in the world!
For those who love working with their hands, this would make a great trip to inspire us.
An Asian could do also 😅😅
Overconfident Europeans are so full of themselves
Anybody could work to achieve this no matter what nation they live in. Absolutely spectacular!
I bet they all come to life at night
It'd be like night at the museum, a mini Owen Wilson would come out of the western part XD

Yup it is german
We traveled to Europe for several weeks this Spring from the States. One of our must see bucket list items was Minatur Wunderland. We spent an entire evening walking through the site. Fantastic experience. Hope to return to northern Germany at least one more time before kicking the bucket instead of checking off the list, and the Wunderland will again be on our must visit / see list. DO NOT MISS IT.
I'd probably be in there for 8+ hours
bmxdenver I'll be there every weekend lol
bmxdenver same

I Spent 6 hours there
you got to pump up those hours, those are rookies hours
I live in Hamburg and I've been there dozens of times and it keeps amazing me every single time. And they keep on building and adding new sceneries and places over time. If you get the chance, this is a must see as it is simply unique.

Knuffingen Airport is somehow the most unrealistic part here: an airport in Germany which is new, works perfectly and has stayed within the predicted costs when finished. ;-) Maybe the team from Miniatur Wunderland should work on the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport ...
:D
It hasnt stayed in the predicted costs

Plan at least 3 hours, seriously. If you love trains and the craftsmanship of modeling you may need a day. And good shoes. My daughter and I were not even close after 3+ hours.... LOVED IT. Love Hamburg.
We visited in July of 2018 and it was more than I hoped for. An absolut must if ever in this area of Germany. The city of Hamburg was such a great find also.
As soon as I saw this feature in the Guinness Book of World Records, I became hooked on trains planes and other transport in the forms of video games and in real life. As I researched more and more about this hobby, I found out about all different types of transport from all over the world and became seemingly addicted to this ever-expanding universe. I am from Australia, but it would be my absolute dream to be able to work at Miniatur Wunderland when I am old enough despite having to overcome barriers such as learning a new language, which I am willing to do. Overall, everyone in the MW network has done a fantastic job at putting it all together, and will continue to do so in the future. You have inspired me greatly, probably alongside many others; to dream and try new things. Keep it up, and who knows; maybe I'll be there in a few years😉.
How wonderful it is to see the results of men and women creating world.
This is so amazing, the amount of detail is just mind blowing. It's hard to say if I'll ever see it in person, I live in America. Also I love the narrator, it's pretty obvious English isn't his first language XD. But I still respect him, I can barely speak another language myself.
+CoasterRebel I got the impression that a computer language was his first language.
+CoasterRebel
hamburg is a beautiful place to visit - go for it
humburg dungeon is also right next to it
coweatsman It might be a computer, it's a little bit hard to tell
2salzig2spucknapp Yeah Germany's a fantastic country. I've been to Berlin and Munich so if I ever return, I'll probably go to Hamburg
+CoasterRebel Thats so sweet of you! Hope one day you will find the opportunity to visit yourself :)
Holy crap! The electricity bill!
Funnily the electric bill is less affected by the power needed for the model display (roughly 100 kW), most electric power is used for ventilation, air-condition, lighting and the kitchen of the restaurant. IIRC the regular electric bill is 30000 euros per month.
Don't worry it will come in miniature bill
@@adrianortiz3392 haha
@@AstrofrankWhat is the computer system like?!
@@CapnFlags 59 computers with self-written software (Delphi as language). I doubt the computers will consume much electrical power, as not much 3D graphics should be involved. In addition, many microcontrollers are running, but they are even less demanding.
I have never left New Zealand but now I want to go and visit this, it looks incredible! It's my childhood dream come true basically.
I understand you not leaving New Zealand, it's beautiful place and on my bucket list to go, but the Miniatur Wunderland was on my bucket list too, and I got to tick that off last year, Incredible experience.
why does it look so realistic???
because Freddy Brown and his amazing TEAM are MASTERS of Modell Railway and Diorama ART
They developed a shrink ray.....
Simple, because German craftsmen built it!
SD70ace_railfan Because they're made by the germans.
SD70ace_railfan thousands of hours put into this
Was there a month ago. It alone is worth the flight from the USA to Deutchland. There are no words possible.
Oh , such a wonderful theme of wunderland. How I wish to be there, reviving my childhood!
On behalf of all the children of the globe I thank you so much you WUNDERLAND team members. It's also a unique and wonderful gift to the child living in every young and old individual.
I'd fly there just to see this. AMAZING! From the U.S. I'm SO glad some people still have an imagination and will follow their dreams. Others will not understand it.... sad really.
Keep it going and live your dream... whatever it may be:-)
I just missed the opening of the airport. I think it was done for the most part and they were putting the fine touches and debugging it. I peaked behind the curtains to at least see it. But even with that out or the loop there was still too much going on to take in with just one visit. I had to come back an extra day. But what a city Hamburg is. We went to the fish markets in the morning and it’s a sight to behold. They have huge pots of boiling oil and the fresh fish is cooked right in front of you. Nothing better than a fish that was swimming in the ocean two hours prior and now it’s filleted, breaded and on a bun with tartare sauce and a tall Stein of beer. Perfect
I hope I can visit it some day. I live in America and hearing about it fascinates me.
I kept zoning out and thinking they cut to a real place outside.
If I ever go to Hamburg, I will Definitely go to this attraction I am Amazed by it, A wonderful exhibit.
How could anyone put a "thumbs down" on this; people amaze me. Nice work Wunderland...
Omg this is beyond unbelievable!
Thanks

this model is just so adorable
and incredibly insane!!
and to add on to that, the amount of little details make it ridiculously realistic. honestly, i probably wouldn't have thought this was miniature and think it's real.
The mature pieces are hilarious. I'm glad they have a sense of humor making these.
Never too young or too old to be into this type of toy models. Havent they come a long way from the basic brio train sets!
This is the greatest miniature art I have seen, just wow! I wonder why more than 2000 hates, I think the haters don't have taste and didn't understood the pain and hard work of artists invested in this wonderful art.
Imagine you are kid and you can play with it.
that would be awesome :)
Imagine being an adult and getting to play with this!
We already do this. While living in cities. Experience would be identical.
GalaxiVerse HD LOL, yah you would be able to rob miniature store or have a date with miniature miss universe.
I would drive the cars around....
WOW! The attention to detail and creativity is astonishing!

How could any one not like this entertainment. The amount of human interaction required to design, construct and run this model is fantastic. How could anyone not realize the inspiration this model can provide to a young person looking to plan their life's work. How could anyone not appreciate the beauty of this model, so many different environments, so much effort to display our world in such beauty. I say thank you to the hundreds of people who are involved in maintaining this model, and I would hope we all could thank God for their ability and strength to stay with this project.
Great!

Absolutely awe-inspiring! Miniatur Wunderland isn't just a model railway; it's a masterpiece of miniature engineering and creativity. The scale and detail with over a thousand trains, planes, and automobiles are what makes it a true wonder of the world. I've covered various model railways on my channel, but the scale of Wunderland is something else entirely. It's fascinating to see how each element interacts within such a vast layout. It's definitely a bucket list destination for any model railway enthusiast. Thanks for sharing this official look - it truly captures the magic of Wunderland!
THAT IS BADASS!!!!! If I ever get over to Germany I'm goin there!!!
This has everything including German humor - the creation of life: a van up and down with people inside humping and a news crew outside peeking and filming through the windows, a fire starting: a couple doing it out in the open, etc.
Am 77ten Tag erschuf Gott das Minatur-Wunderland und er sah, dass es gut war. HALLELUJAH
Im about to cry its so beautiful. I'm an architecture student and I wanna be a model maker so bad I love it
You should ask for an internship. I imagine they are looking for someone like you. Hamburg is one of the most exciting cities in Germany and has a lot to offer that many people abroad probably don't even know. The downside, of course, is that life there is not cheap.

Spent hours walking around this place - went back to being a kid again - Fantastic!
Just wish they didnt give themselves a fake name. "the worlds largest train layout."
One of the cities to visit before I die. I will have to book a hotel room for a week just to see this miniature wonderland. Almost as much custom lighting as a small Las Vegas casino.
Phillip Mulligan and they actually have a few miniature Las Vegas casinos with custom lightning
Best place to live under Coronavirus.
The dream came true of all miniatures lovers, simply AMAZING.
The builders are busy.. .and I see the sims are also busy! XD
One of the coolest things I've ever seen. What miserable bastards down vote this lol. I feel sorry for you.
Must have been my father 🤣 I gave him tickets and he still never went there with me though we live in Hamburg.
My son and I went last week while in Hamburg & it was a definite MUST SEE when there. Hard to put into words how incredible, detailed and immersing the experience is. Plan ahead for tickets and make time to go and look for the incredible amount of details to see! We cannot wait to go back and discover more things we missed or as they add new locales. Sehr Gut!!

Since i live in Hamburg i was there three times now, and still i'm seeing new things and think: "This was here before? Haha, didnt see it then..."
I can say it's really creative with all the trains, planes, ships, and cars it's unlike anything I've seen before it's just pure amazement

Unbelievable. It's nice to see there are still ways to escape the real world into a fantasy one without the use of CG.
Funny you'd say that. I was a member of a model rail club in the Copenhagen suburbs some years ago, and one time a movie studio approached the club as to film a movie there, or at least for the time being a demo clip. The premise was to be about a girl getting magically shrunken down into her grandfather's model railroad and it all coming to life when people were away and it used a combination of CG and the model train world. The CG actually looked pretty good for just a demo reel from a Danish film studio. Sadly the movie project got canned a bit later by the studio. IDK if the clip is available anywhere but I'll go look for it now
It's been a few years since we have visited. It's time for us to visit Hamburg again.
I´d loved to have play with something like this as a child. Like, literally, this WAS one of my child (or maybe many other children) dream.
How do you keep it free of dust??
Dust blowers, fans Etc. I presume.
Joe yea, prob so.
There are a lot people with vaccum cleaners who clean every inch of the complete model world every day after they closed.
Of course some of the little figures get sucked in sometimes, but they get back on their place as soon as they are found inside the bucket of the vacuum.
Trains were so low on my list I never got around to them. But I love dioramas and miniatures, and model railroaders are among the best at making those.
This would be epic without the trains, but the trains are why it exists in the first place and make it sooo much better.
So, if only for that reason alone, I do love trains.
fantastic. but you should have included video giving an over all picture of the large layout and the people
Not possible. It's spread over three floors and several rooms. I was there a couple weeks ago. Very much worth a visit.
My vision of heaven is being one inch tall and being allowed to live there.
I went there in 2014 and i've booked for 3 days and only explored half of it. I loved every single moment in there and love to go there again (which im planning to). I miss Sebastian guidance around the wunderland.
This must be the same excitement I had when I was an alien and I looked at Earth and said, I want to live there! And now I'm living on Earth looking at this miniature world like, I wanna live there!
3:55, OMG I'M DIEING XD
Went there this week. It was very cool experience
My favorite part when visiting there was seeing the Millennium Falcon take off from the airport.
This is amazing
Hands up . This set up is nothing short of incredible.? My jaws dropped at the start. Absolutely amazing
And yet some people gave a thumbs down for some reason🤷🏻
I do believe I have asked this question MANY years ago but never got an answer so Id thought I'd give it one more try if I may, why the planes takeoff and disappear into the wall, where do they actually go after that, I mean do they somehow male a circle and actually come in and land from the opposite wall on the other side of the building, or how does that actually work???????
Andrew, having been there a couple of times, last time (in 2013) doing a "Behind the Scenes Tour" The planes move around based on a highly modified version of "The Faller Car System",.which is a how they "taxi" around the airport as well. The "Catapult" which lifts the planes off the runway by the two rods you see under them, drops them down to a turning area behind the wall, and the planes turn and run back on their wheels, below the airport taxi ways to the other end ready for their turn to re land. There is a holding and charging area as well for the plane's internal batteries. The Catapult is a huge machine that runs under the runway and beyond the curtains that took several years and millions of Euros to develop and was the key to making "Knuffingen Airport" come to life ! Everything was developed "in house" by the MiWuLa engineers and modellers. I have a few videos of aircraft movements (which I should upload one day) but only poor photos from behind the scenes of the airport machinery as the light is poor there. Search the web and particularly miniaturewunderland.com and you will find more info ! Glen (NZ)
Search for "Gerrits Tagebuch". Its basicly the making of the Airport. The films are in German with English subtitles. Everything is explained.
Below the airport there is a "shadow airport" with at least three levels. On one the planes can move to the other side of the runway if necessary. But they can also wait until needed again.
What they should do is employ virtual reality headset technology, where you can wear a Virtual Reality screen and experience the entire thing from the viewpoint of the someone the size as the miniatures.
That would be awesome :)
It really would :)
+Will Rueb i would consider developing something like that, with gear vr, and selling some cameras on mini people, including an app, it could make you a fair ammount of money
Brilliant idea will

Yes it would great to see it one day. There's a really cool one in St.Petersburg I believe and maybe Las Vegas? Puts my little video of Perth miniature railways exhibition into perspective! But it's fun and short so please have a look/share if you like trains.
Still developing you say? I propose a section of Tokyo and a miniature sized Godzilla
