I found the easiest way to switch from Maya to Blender was to change the keyboard map to the Industry Standard layout. I even set the theme to the Maya theme. I felt right at home and I never did switch back to the Blender keyboard layout. I've just kept it at Industry Standard so when I use Unity, Unreal, Quixel Mixer, etc. it's all the same navigation.
That's a good bandage, but it comes hard to learn new things in Blender or follow tutorials, since most people are using the default layout and hotkeys. So it's definitely a choice to make.
@@BrianKouhi I have had no problems following tutorials. When the say press S to scale, I just press R to scale. As long as I know what action they are doing, I can figure out the key to press. Sometimes I watch Maya and 3dsMax tutorials and just translate them into Blender. I have many years of experience with Max and Maya, switching over to Blender with the industry standard key layout was a piece of cake.
U r soooooooooo smart
Amazing men
This is an outstanding tutorial and right on time. I’m animating my first custom character in BforArtists. Though this is a blender tutorial , I have enough experience to transfer the lesson to BforArtists. Since BforArtists a fork of blender with a icon driven and mouse driven interface. Plus, many more to blender doesn’t have. So this tutorial is right on time.
Glad it was helpful!
I have a question, if I want to obtain better performance in the animation process in the Blender viewer, what component of the PC influences this process the most? A CPU with more cores, or a single core but faster? Or is it a faster GPU that has more influence on previewing the animations in the Blender viewer?
omg ty sm😭
👍👍👍
If I want to transfer files between maya and blender, do I need to change blender's unit to cm? Does it affect the use of blender?
You can't transfer files between Maya and Blender (for the most part). Unless you're saving your assets as OBJ or FBX. But rigs are incompatible between the two software. I'm not sure about changing the unit, the best way to find out is to test it out :)
