- Join us as we anchor between the idyllic sanctuary that is Conception Island and Booby Cay in the Bahamas. This remote island is home to many both land and sea animals with scenic underwater views. We free dive, explore the sandy beach tackle problems faced while living on our tiny home and sailboat. When our starter battery dies, we can no longer start our engine and have to think of a way to safely get ourselves from one island to the next.

Great,,, kudos for removing the varnish in such an apparently unspoiled environment (the vacuum won't catch it all),,, I wish everybody would do the same ...
Stunning everywhere you look ❤
Some of your best videography ever! The shot of Steph ascending from the bottom was way cool. So many other great video moments here. You two are have reached next level with your video production! As someone who has followed you for a long time this adds another reason for checking out your videos. Great job.
Also, not that it should be mentioned but I will anyway - Steph seems to get more and more beautiful as your saga continues.
Gotta love the channels where people sail all over the world and 80% of the thumbnails are t @ a shots of the woman. Lol that’s cinematography!

Awesome!
" getting out can be as hard as getting in" no truer words have ever been spoken
Nice job. Some AGM's are fine for starting batteries. You can also use a little jumper between house batteries and starter battery to keep it charged all the time. I'm doing it right now with my lithium battery set up on my rv. I did it with my AGM's before this. You will add years to the starter battery. You can also put a battery disconnect on the starter battery when not in use. And or, a separate solar panel and small charge controller to keep it charged.
My boat guru has a great saying. Batteries don't die, they're murdered.
What type and age is the charger you’ve been using?
In the last year I’ve picked up a noco genius charger and these newer chargers appear to have helpful features that my older chargers don’t. Including multiple voltages, AGM, Lead Acid, Lithium compatible. And the ability to repair/restore batteries that are either dead or not performing as they should in order to eek out a few more years of service.
Buy two batteries n run them in parallel.
The bird impression was too good. 😂
Ahhhhhh, the boat dead battery problem. Happy you were able to use your house bank to get started. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🎉 I have seen published that some boats have a circuit pewired to connect both banks when necessary without any extra work other than flipping a switch. Perhaps possible for you guys. 🤔👍🏻 Amazing water and the mangrove drone scene is sooooooo lovely. Some of the most beautiful places. Thanks guys.😊❤ See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
My MV (MARGEEZ II, since sold, was also renamed...but interesting 'story' our Buyers sold her to the SeaRay Captain whom did her original Sea Trial and son had also was on team whom built her. I met them while I was relaxing in aft deck and they were inspecting her hull number from their dingy. Invited them on) had a switch, for emergency start, to connect start along with house batteries. Simply turn the switch. Did we ever "need" to use it? No. But prepared.
She Needs to be in movies .
It’s a toss up who has the hottest body, Steph or Elayna?
Porn maybe
Amazing scenery! The colors of the water are crazy!
*The color of the water is my favorite color*
Sooooo where EXACTLY is this BOOBY ISLAND and how do I get there and can I bring my wife .....'cuuuuz she could use some help in that dept.
Is it possible to equalize the start battery? Also do you have a BlueSea ACR?? I charge between my house and start battery (AGM AGM dual use Optima)
Nice,
Hello from Russia 👍 ❤❤❤❤
A lot of boats have a lead from house to starter with switch so if that happens flip a switch engine starts. Plus boobies are not graceful they bounce everywhere. HAHAHA.
It is not uncommon for a battery to fail by developing an open in an internal connection (between cells, as an example, or at one of the posts). The result is that it can appear to be charged with normal voltage, but in reality, it is not able to accept charging current or to produce any significant amount of output current. There are no "smarts" in a normal lead acid battery, only electrodes and acid.
I guess that it is obvious now, that it is essential to have redundant starting batteries together with a Left, Right, Both Switch. In your case, you could have a switch like that on your house bank so that it could serve as the backup to the starting battery. Whoever built your boat without a redundant start power source is totally incompetent.
Batteries should be replaced on a schedule. If your car fails to start in a parking lot is one thing, but if it fails in a remote area can be life threatening. I replaced my boat battery every two year’s regardless how well it worked.
some times the battery runs out of water and will not charge period sometimes its as simple as pulling the batter caps off and refilling the water that has evaporated out then it will charge again
3:03 You are truly stunning and incredibly beautiful🥰🥰
Are you kidding me with that body Travis? I'm not gay but damn!!! The closest I came to that I was 28 and rebuilding a stone dock and wall with 50lb plus stones. Still could not get those abs. Whatever you are doing son, keep it up.
Totally gay...
@@yourface3154 and I am lisbien 😂.
Your camera compositions are stunning.
Cool , plan B /C 'D works :-)
Named after the sunken treasure ship Coception... Where is your metal detector?
Travis would love to have one 😅
People run washing machine with spin drier and tumbler from house bank Lithium, but to use them for a starter motor to start the engine is verboten? Sorry, that does not make sense to me. I doubt there could be a huge if any difference between the twos power pull. Maybe it could be an initial power overload, like with a big angle grinder on an ordinary house 110/240 V net? Just figure out (read manual) if a starter motor pulls an initial power overload, if not I can not see any risk for Lithium as it runs for a few seconds only. There should be reports of starter motors killing Lithium house banks if that actually happens. You can't be the first in your problem situation. If a Google or Swisscows search turns nothing up, it should be safe to use a big enough Lithium house bank.
Your last few videos, especially the one before this one, are screaming at me, you are stupid sitting in front of a computer in a cold climate country. Thanks for that!
We’ve got AGM batteries but now we know it’s totally fine to do!
Groovy episode. I the engine didn't start, couldn't you slowly bring your ship being pulled by the dingy?
That would def be the last resort. Some of the inlets can also be quite tricky
you should get one of those car jump starting batteries for just such an occasion. they charge via usb and some are good for 600CCA.
I`ve had a couple of those mini jump starts in the past. They only last a couple years, require monitoring to verify, and they don`t work in cold temps.
@@REDMAN298 theyre just a lithium ion battery, cost maybe 100 bucks. and you can use them to charge your phone as well. cheap insurance I rekon.
Super fast battery chargers from China are also awesome 👏 😎 fully charge battery from dead in 15/20 minutes. Cheap
really nice camera work. Travis finds.. voltage somewhere else.
Bahahahah!
Basically you gave it a hauk twah
Awesome awesome couple Can do, fix anything, immensely athletic, fearless 👍💪👍
You were over thinking the battery situation. A battery is a battery, just use what you have available!
Problems while offgrid vulnerable to weather are always bigger issues in the moment 😆
The secret with lead acid batteries for a long service life, is never discharge them below 50% capacity which means no lower than a voltage of about 12.2 volts you need a voltmeter to check them, as they self discharge quite fast. Leave them for about a month and you can have killed the battery. ☹️ personally, I’d prioritise a small solar panel just for keeping the starter battery topped up, and if the panel is unshaded, a PWM charge controller is quite adequate tbh, Best wishes. Bob in Wales.👍🌟🌟🌟⛵️❤️
Amazing just Amazing how clear the water is good for you guys safe travels
Tons of batteries available in Long Island if needed. Don't need to go Long Island then Exuma
So what exactly did you do to get Eng started? Did you disconnect starter from Eng battery and hook it up to house bank to get started? Great video 😊
Jump from any 12v battery to get the engine running. The engine battery should never go dead. This means nothing other that the engine should be connected or bilge pumps
OMW , dead batteries , go litium ion . yes short battery , last shot ! .
No motor , no move , wait for wind :-)
As you just said :-)
How about setting up the dinghy motor on the transom for emergency use? Maybe a storage mount that could drop down to water level.
I ran in to a similar situation off the coast of California, it turned out my main battery selector switch was cutting out and I didn’t figure out for a couple days. I changed out the switch, the battery, bought jumper cables, I tuned up my generator, got a ac to shore power cord, got a charger and all new batteries. And still feel I should have solar on top of all that to prevent a tow!
Travis i think u are are taking advantage of Stephs hotness factor when filming. It works

Always good to install a charging unit in your outboard motor. Then you always have a spare battery thats charged.
With storage on your boat at a premium, if you have the room for 2 loaves of bread in some locker, you could get a jump starter to keep around. It will help in these situations. It can also be used to get a dinghy started, loaned out to someone to get them started or brought to a beach party to power music and lights. Another option is having a small 50 or 100 watt solar panel that is dedicated to trickle charge the starter battery. It tends to extend the life of the battery. Last if your dinghy has an alternator and it makes 12 VDC, I have seen someone jump a Yanmar with an outboard.
God I love mangoes and coconuts and peaches and strawberries ❤
You can use a 12 to18volt power tool battery to start your engine. I have done it to start my van. Awesome video's by the way.
Great video, missed meeting you in Porto Santo. Long Island is a good stop with lots of friendly locals, willing to help.
disconnect engine battey and then put the charger on. the circuit might be interfering with you system giving a false full battery signal
You guys should always carry a spare battery and a jump pack starter 😅 best of luck 🤙🤣🔥
a lithium Starter battery and/or a jump pack would be a good idea in the future. There are lithium batteries rated for start loads.
Boat struggles are real and it pays to be resourceful! Glad you were able to overcome the challenge. Really enjoyed the episode and subscribed. The scenery in the islands is truly amazing. This morning, I traveled there in my mind...thank you!
Really does! Especially in the islands. Thank you and welcome :)
good job....great colors on the sea and bikinis...lol
Such gorgeous water and beaches. And great people🙂
where you from?
On the positive a really Nice anchorage.
Amazing abilities to make do, jury rig, find solutions and stay positive! An unrelated question to today’s episode … do you have any problems with sunburn and skin care? I’m a lifelong surfer, paddler, and outdoors person and am paying the price now with multiple skin cancer treatments and surgeries. This episode I noticed Travis with a sun shirt while in the beach and diving. Tropical Steph is always in bikini. Have you a skin protection routine? Wishing that you escape any problems. 🤞🏼
As an Asian Steph's skin has much more Melanin than the skin of a white woman, that protects her skin perfectly, the sun's rays turning her skin a deeper brown.
He ha!! Eso de la batería ha estado bien. Ha sido un poco de "suspense"
Probably should have went to the island with a auto parts store first! You probably wouldn't have had any problems 🙄
There weren’t any and it wasn’t an issue . The further south down the Bahamas you are, the more remote
👍
HAHA sand balls!!! you can take the Canadians out of Canada but you cant take the Canada out of the Canadians LOL, id rather be having sand ball fights to be honest. That water clarity was insane!!!! What it must be like be truly alone is something I cant wait to experience. The wizard Travis and his bush fixes are leigt, glad that was figured out
🇨🇦
Rum Kay where they make the Bacardi 😊
You’re back to see the beach where you built a water swing.
I believe I’m correct and others have yet to comment. I’ll take some swag for the win..
🤫
Booby island? Pretty much the reason I watch these videos. LOL
Yep we’re anchored right infront of Booby Cay
Great underwater videography.
What a beautiful place you guys are at this week. Stunning photography. Keep of the good work!
Just stunning!! More to come
Keep up the good work love your videos
Great video glad you two are doing great
AI
Wow Sailor great episode ❤
Wire brush takes the gray away 😊
Steph and Travis can fix anything! Glad that fix worked!
So relieved!
Keep the pink one in the rotation. 😳😳
For future reference, you can likely start your engine off a cordless drill battery.
Was just going to say that. Most people aren’t aware of this trick. I always keep one in the trunk.
Cool , empty bays :-)
What song is it that you used on the 17:00 minute mark

Beautiful water. 👍
Hello guys ❤❤
Thank you
Very nice.
Good work around!
🎉❤ wooowww
thanks.
Carry a small Generator.
We have a portable genny but that’s not going to start up our engine
@@SailingJibsea It will charge your batteries at least. Trust me great thing to have.
👍👍🥳❤

if the starter battery is not a deep cycle you should replace it with deep cycle
