Before industrialization, most people had a mostly vegetarian diet without much processing involved in making food. Now if you live in the average US city the most common food you will find is junk food filled with meat, bread, cheese, sugar and mystery ingredients. Capitalism has forced food deserts to appear where the only option is McDonalds or 711. And when you can buy an unhealthy cheeseburger at McDonalds for a coupl bucks, it costs a dollar to buy a single apple from 711. This crisis was man-made and the issue is bigger than exercise or changing diets.
Not quite. Vegetarianism comes from the 7th Day Adventist cult leader Ellen G Smith and her fear of people fucking (similar to Kellogg (who invented corn flakes to lower sex drive)and Graham (who invented his cracker to lower sex drive) What happened in America is the personal feeling of Ancel Keyes, that lead to paying off doctors the equivalent of $60k to say that it was saturated fat and not sugar that caused heart disease. Nutritional guidelines were changed to reflect this. The population with the highest current life expectancy eats the highest amount of meat per capita: Hong Kong. Look up nina tiecholz, dr robert lustig, the framingham heart study, john yudkin. Keyes NEVER wanted his ideas tested. The french contradicted them (lots of lard, butter, smoking and wine). Even parts of the 7 countries he looked at. Yudkin's work was buried by Keyes until a relative uncovered boxes in 2016. A side note on veg/veganism: there are over 15 key nutrients you can only get from animal foods.
