Nobody said Shepard wasn`t active. Someone had to set up the resistance and I find it very unlikely that some random citizens with almost no military knowledge succesfully established entire resistance that was needed to help Gordon Freeman reach peak of citadel. And there isn`t better candidate than Corpral Shepard who encountered all kinds of XEN creatures and probably had some "assigments" durning 7 hour war. From Gman perspective it is critical to separate Grodon and Shepard from each other since they are both geniuses at surviving the impossible odds. Shepard seems superior to Gordon anyway since Shepard had only his HECU military gear while Gordon had power suit designed for hazardous enviroments with infinite morfine supplies.
The best half-life out there and the 2nd most popular protag aside from Gordon. Valve would blew up the internet if they make Gordon rescue Adrian from Gman stasis and team up in HL3.
I think Shepherd will kill Gordon.

While I agree overall did enjoy Opposing Force, the squad AI for friendly marines has NOT aged well and it shows.
Also, some part felt a little…overly difficult (I’m looking at you, Foxtrot Uniform).
