I saw this video when I was a freshman in high school and told my pops that I wanted one and he jumped on that opportunity and now i still have my 87 iroc 8 years later with a rebuilt 350. Love that car. Always will! Thanks for the video!!!
2019? And own a 88 Iroc-Z 305tbi 5 speed...really fun car, better than "most" (not all) these younger generation wanting only their blue tooth internet touch screen GPS tracking car. Missing the smell of gas, the roar of the engine, and the creeks of the old panels flexing and your cassette wire attached to your smart phone playing Motley Crue-Kickstart my heart
I have to say from growing up wishing I had an IROC!! Then watching my little brother (who is the youngest and got what ever he wanted) pull out in front of some people in his 87 IROC and getting T-Boned!!! God oh how I wanted to "KICK HIS ASS!!!!" I have to admit I am proud to say that I have a beautiful IROC sitting in my garage in pieces to be rebuilt and one day I will play just as hard and fast as these people in this video...
Love it!! Great job on an awesome tribute! If you make another one definately count me in! I will send my video response to do my part for the Tribute!
145 to be exact. The L69 H.O 305 was the one to get. It had 190 and that was top dog back then. I had a red L69 5-speed and it was a blast. I still miss that car!
My mother has yet to sit in my car, thank you. We have 5 cars, 2 Ford Explorers, 1 Ford Windstar minivan, the camaro (which is MY car) and the Chevy S10. I'm not allowed to drive any of those cars except one of the exlorers due to their 4WD, because in the winter we get bad freezing rain which makes the roads slicker than greased deer shit.... Other than that, nobody drives my car and I'm not allowed to drive theirs..... I take a weights class in high school, and my cars been restored already.
I love 3rd Gen Camaros i had a 1984 Z28 all original with 305. I cried when i saw the guy i sold it to drive away in it. 3 months later i bought my 86 Iroc with 350 TPI w/ l82 cam. That car blows the doors off my 84. So fun to drive.
I have this video as one of my favorites. Every time I watch it, it makes me miss my 87 z28, now I have a 72 with a 396 t56 setup I will own another third gen in the future.
The L69 High Output 5.0-liter 5-speed was the top dog... I owned two of them back in the '90s, and still have one of the 5.0 liter H.O dash badges from one of them, lol... only the 5-speed models could actually be ordered with 3.42 and 3.73 gears, "from the factory". Amazing car, and I believe will be one of the more collectable 3rd Gens in the near future. Motor Trend managed to squeeze 14.8 from a 1984 L69 5-speed... a great time for mid-'80s era car, as that's what the 1987 5.7 L98 cars ran.
Love it !! I have a few myself a 1992 Camaro RS with a 350 auto and a 1990 1LE IROC-Z 350 w/o air (one of 28) it has 6.3 mi. on it in storage,(my retirement) on jack stands.And a 1984 that I plan on racing.
I've got an '87 IROC with the 305 TPI and 700R4, but that engine is like my own mystery motor. Previous owners put a solid cam in it and a BBK throttle body, but that's all we know. It revs quick, shifts hard, and has no problem taking the turns. It's been lowered an inch all the way around with some stiffer sway bars. That's done by the previous owners too. We had a problem with excess heat buildup for our taste (220 was the average temp) so we installed one toggle switch under the dash to kick on one of the two electric fans and no problem now. If it gets above 160 flip the switch and you can idle all day and not top 190. For all the mystery in this 305, it really feels and sounds like every 5.7 I've ever seen run. I'd dare say it's even a notch above a stock 5.7, but this is an opinion strictly from the seat of the pants. I haven't encountered a 5.7 to go up against yet since having this car as it's only been two months.
I'm building a 355 vortec stoker for mine, the 165 hp the 80's got out of a 305 just isn't enough. I spent $2000 in the machine shop alone getting everything double checked. All I need now is a set of longtubes and it will be ready to fire. So far I've gotten all new pistons with cast iron rings, 10.44-1 ported vortec heads, air gap edelbrock intake, RV cam, 2800 stall, highway gears, posi, air shocks, cast iron eagle 400 crank, bored .30 over, and a new Holley 750 double pumper. The 305 blew u
Wow dude what a sweet post!! Love the intro, the song choices and the car vids.......had me an 83 trans am, 84 trans am and an 85 firebird back in the day.... got married and responsable...... but hell ya divorced for a while now and just bought a #'s matching 5.7 TPI 88 IROC-Z, motor has some love put into it along with 3 1/2" exhaust.....Its bad ass satin black and fast as fuck.... I'm gonna melt the tires off this thing and send it to you for your next post, great vid pal, thanks for posting!
Its all in where your heart lies.. I work for John Force Racing "Ford" but i drive nothing but chevys and have a bowtie tattoed on my back. Its always good to see how things are on the other side of the line.
The L69-optioned H.O cars were awesome cars for their time. If you ordered the 5-speed model you could actually order G92 with 3.73 gears from the "factory"... and 4-wheel disc brakes, the L69 cars were ahead of their time and could run high 14 second 1/4 mile times which was damn good for the mid-'80s. Be proud of it man, lol.
My parents bought new and owned 3rd gen Camaros. At that time the had good horse power and torque . The transmission and gearing did not matchup as well as the the Ford 5.0s at that time. Camaros and Firebirds had the better looking cars but they had there hands full on the street and tracks against 5.0s. I would love to have a t-top 91 Z28 one day . But for now I will just be content with my Notch back 5.0 and my 1st generation 69 Camaro SS convertible. "Blessed with the best of both eras. ✔
Great vid. I had a 90 Formula 350. The 350 Irocs and Formula 350's with the dual catalyst exhuasts were awesome factory cars. Never had a problem with a 5.0 Mustang in that car! Thing that stinks is that there was so few people who bought those cars, where as all Mustangs GT's had 5.0 225HP, so the Camaro and Firebird had a bad street racing reputation...but that made it so much more fun, because they always wanted a race! I had so much fun in the early 90's with my friends with Mustangs.
The 3erd. gen. anyone can afford , I have a 1990 1le-IROC-Z (one of 28) with 6.3 mi. on it and a 1992 1le-B4C on of 250 (this one I drive)with a under hood supercharger , a lot of fun. I am now putting a 400 sb. in my 1984 rs. it should be a real sleeper but I still need a posi. and a set of gears to make work. It shure is nice to be retired, FINALLY !
When I saw Smokey And The Bandit in '77, I fell in love with the Trans Am! But when Pontiac made the "Knight Rider" in '82, I stopped liking T/A's and got into Camaros. When the Iroc Z28 came out in '85, they were THE cars to have! That is until 1987: The first year for the Mustang GT 5.0.... The car that EVERYBODY wanted! Sorry GM guys but it's true :-)
okay, at 3:25 is my dream car, but with a t56 6 speed and a carbuereted 5.3 vortec with a 750 double pumper on a dual plane intake, long tube headers into an x-pipe then flowmasters, then with a hotchkis suspension kit! a guy can dream... lol
one wise old hotrod builder whit a ford model T hotrod told me that the only way to make a ford go fast, is to put a chevy engine in it! and i believe him.
These videos definitely make you want to grab some wrenches!!! Thirdgens forever! Anyone who grew up in the 80's knew how special these cars were!
Its 1:00 am, but your vid inspired me to go fire up my Z28 and finish off the tires!
Bob 140 for mee
These cars are 80's time travel machines :) realy nice , great song to
This brought a tear to my eye :,)
Me too, the exhaust fumes from cars with no cats. 😭👍
Stop whining.. 😆
At least I’m not the only one. Best fuckin time ever!
More motivated now than ever to breath life back into my 89 Iroc. Thanks for such a awesome video.
as a owner of a 25th anniversary Camaro i loved this video n the cars in it a standing ovation 2 the maker n 3rd GEN lovers out there
nice video! I'm even more proud to be a 1982 T/A owner!
Thanks! :-)
The coolest year for the Firebirds and Camaros in my opinion I also have 1991 Pontiac Firebird.
I saw this video when I was a freshman in high school and told my pops that I wanted one and he jumped on that opportunity and now i still have my 87 iroc 8 years later with a rebuilt 350. Love that car. Always will! Thanks for the video!!!

2:09 - 2:11 is mine :-)

I smile every time I watch this video. Partly because My white 91 GTA was in it twice but also because I really love the 3rd gen F-body! Nice work!
Nice!! I love them its refreshing to see young guys in to american cars!!
Love it!! Great job on an awesome tribute! If you make another one definately count me in! I will send my video response to do my part for the Tribute!

Ohh man, I loved the black Firebird with the golden bird and the golden honeycomb wheels, man that was a sexy car.
Awesome video dude! Great job! Signed- proud owner of an 84Z28 L69 5 speed.
145 to be exact. The L69 H.O 305 was the one to get. It had 190 and that was top dog back then. I had a red L69 5-speed and it was a blast. I still miss that car!
Awesome video. I'm getting ready to dump my worked 327 into my 82 Z28 in the next few weeks. God I love these cars
My mother has yet to sit in my car, thank you. We have 5 cars, 2 Ford Explorers, 1 Ford Windstar minivan, the camaro (which is MY car) and the Chevy S10. Holy cow what a good video, love third gens!!. Good choice of music there man. Thumbs UP!
Nice tribute! Third gen has character and you showed it. When one wants to drive with attitude, one needs a car like third gen... not a ricer.
great video, loved every second of it and the song was good too.
by far the best 3rd gen video on youtube
I saw your link in TGO, awesome vid man! Thanks for making this.
I have this video as one of my favorites. Every time I watch it, it makes me miss my 87 z28, now I have a 72 with a 396 t56 setup I will own another third gen in the future.

that's the true beauty of chevy that 305 could be replaced with a built 350 in a weekend and will sit in there like it came from the factory.
Its all in where your heart lies.. I work for John Force Racing "Ford" but i drive nothing but chevys and have a bowtie tattoed on my back. Its always good to see how things are on the other side of the line.
A third gen doing a burnout to Motley Cru. I hope that’s my heaven.
This made me happy I just bought another Iroc-z.
I got goosebumps during the camaro part
