- Playing Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson with the Clovis HS Symphony Orchestra at Paul Shaghoian Concert Hall, December 9, 2022. Decided I upload a video playing it with the algorithm pushing a lot of videos similar to this. Hope you enjoy! Also, my tuning is bad and my staring is bad too so don’t pay attention to it thank you very much

Way to go big bro👍🏻
bro that sounds almost like piccolo range... really impressive
well, it's called piccolo clarinet for something
yup from my experience it usually shares parts with the piccolo
Eb Claremont is literally piccolo clarinet
@@Patowlli tbh I didn't know that 😅
If you want a clarinet with the real piccolo range there’s Ab
i dont even play Eb clarinet but damn..that range is incredible
That's the power of the almighty Eb clarinet, we have like one Eb clarinet player, the octave differences between Bb and Eb is pretty interesting
Not too different from Bb soprano clarinet
@@jbreezy101 Eb clarinet can go much higher range.
I didn’t even realize Sleigh Ride had an eb clarinet part! You sounded amazing! Clean and beautiful sound!
They have it for Alto Clarinet and Soprano sax as well.
there is an eb clarinet part! although i think they played extra parts (probably from the alto sax part, judging by their neck strap)
the actual eb part has a lot less than this, just the trills, triplets, and second phrase of the jazz part (+other small parts)
they sound great tho!
It's typically played by oboe but some bands don't have them as they're fairly rare and low-key expensive
I attempted to play the eflat part my senior yr… lol but I did get to play my eflat on an other song and even had a solo in the piece!
@@amadeusandrew76what’s it called?
I love how it can sound like a trumpet and a normal clarinet at the same time, good job!
how is this a trumpet lmao
@@Jwellsuhhuh it kinda sounds like one on the higher notes
@@flicknotesruinmylife ig maybe but no not bright enough, not enough harmonics
more like a piccolo
i thought it sounded like an oboe 😭
This is incredible! As a clarinetist myself, I strive to be able to play like this!
Brilliant job!
As a piccolo player myself, DAMN DUDE THATS RLY HIGH, LIKE MY KINDA RANGE HIGH 😱😱
That’s was amazing! But no one gonna talk about how cute the very beginning was🤨🌞
great job on this very difficult part!
You played a different edition of Sleigh Ride than is usually standard for band, based on the Eb clarinet part that I played. It sure is a lot of fun, though, and you did a great job!
It’s the same Eb part but I played some additional parts because I got bored 😳
@@gavyntapp7689 I do this all the time on bari sax 🤣
@@bretfine688 I always use my clarinet parts on bari sax
@@gavyntapp7689 yes i do this on horn too the horn part is so boring
@@gavyntapp7689 like taking the melody up an octave hahaha
I am slowly listening to every part played by high schoolers
I play Eb clarinet and WOW. Your tone is great and you can play in tune (I can’t lol) and it just sounds awesome. Keep up the good work!
Great job! I played Eb clarinet in my high school band well over 50 years ago, I can identify with this!
sounded like flute, trumpet and clarinet at the same time lol good job!!!!
Idk about trumpet 😅but it sounded like a clarinet and a flute yeah
bro what
I could watch this one All day, EVERYDAY.(not only because I am a Clarinetist, and wanted to play Eb Cl, but instead I am playing Alto Cl which is the same Key but lower octave) Your the first clarinet part I’ve heard with great sound quality, clear articulation with the 16ths, slurs, and staccato notes, you were OP with those dynamics!!!! AND perfect tempo. I mean if I didn’t know any better I’d say you COMPOSED this piece😂😂 Amazing Job Gavyn !
watching this as a Bb clarinet in pure disbelief
Great job on Eb for a young player. Don’t forget besides playing right notes and correct articulations, dynamics are very important. There were many
places where there should of been crescendos and decrescendos. Everything was one dynamic. You weren’t the only one, the whole ensemble. But you’re doing a great job. Keep up the good work. You definitely have the talent.
Thank you!
VERY nice sound!!! Bravo band and Eb! 🥳
the TRILLSS
YO WAIT WERENT YOU FIRST CHAIR AT ALL STATE SYMPHNOIC BAND LAST YEAR I REMEMBER YOU
I’m so late but I play Bb clarinet and this is really awesome, you’re super talented. The range is impressive asf.
Now I’m curious about the E♭ Clarinet! Good job on the performance!
Great job. That was so good! Have a safe and Happy Holidays!
love seeing POVs like this as the holidays are coming up :D
you sounded great!!
you sound absolutely amazing! i played Eb for a year before going back to Bb and i know how hard it is to sound as nice as you do. fantastic job :)
Really nice. Played clarinet for many years in grade school through college. Never tried an Eb, though. It's sooo tiny! Like you, I doubled up on a couple other woodwinds - sax and bassoon. Those were fun times. (I assume you also play sax from that strap around your neck.)
I wish my school band would play sleigh ride so I could try this part out 🥹
So talented my dude, keep up the good work!🤗
-your biggest fan
I’ve been playing/ doubling on Eb for 2.5 decades (and ‘Sleigh Ride’ to this day, is still one of the most fun Eb parts). You play what is a difficult little beast very well, with precise technique!
I love how you add extra parts when the Eb part has unnecessary rests haha, nice job all around though! (coming from a fellow eb player :D)
Wonderful performance. It honors Leroy Anderson.
My 3rd year coming back to these.
This was absolutely amazing! I’m a Eb clarinet, and love playing it! You have great talent, good job!
Very nice….I like how you can play in tune on an Eb clarinet. I’m impressed, nice job!!!!
OMG, you are so talented and you sound awesome!!! I enjoyed this!! your band sounded so good!!!
This is great playing, through break, altissimo, and in tune, facility through all the registers. Wonderful job.
Sounded really nice! I love the Eb clarinet, it's like a clarinet's equivalent to piccolo.
I love my Eb clarinet 😭😭😭. Your air control is insane
Very good! This is the season for Sleigh Ride.
that is one of the songs I want to play in the future when I am older! The clarinet sounds good!
I was the slapstick
Best instrument 😂
Clartastic and Clarific
Absolutely killed it bro! I have only played this as alto sax or contra alto clarinet. Eb looks amazingly fun. Probably a beast to keep in tune, but you nailed it
Great playing, good job! I love that you're vibing to the music.
wow thats a high range😭👏🏽❤
i would absolutely HATE to have to do that on my clarient. good jobbb
This is really cool for me as a clarinetist that just started working in the e flat( I have play b flat clarinet for 7 years)
you got the high and normal parts oml that must have been so fun to play
If you get $10 every time you blink this guy would be homeless
Eb clarinet sounds good in the right hands. and these hands are great.
Great skill. Love it. You know what you are doing. Happy holidays to you as well. 🎅🤶🕊😉
i need that capybara thing immediately. its so cute
That was fun, thanks!
You did really good , your tone is good I can already tell
i played this song as well for my concert and you're definitely better than our clarinets😭
SUPERB!!
I love playing Eb! Nice job!
Play the Clarinet too🎵! It’s so good👍🏻💗🎵🎧!! Well done 👏🏻🌈🙋🏻♀️☀️:)!
I played E-flat on Sleigh Ride back in 2019, was a lot of fun.
omg i loved this so much ♥
My favorite Sleigh Ride perspective instrument! This piece clearly was written by a clarinetist.
Excellent job!!!
Sounds like when I have to play the oboe super high lol
YOU GOBBLED THAT GAVYN!!
BRAVO!
Excellent!
You look so proud at the end! Keep it up, I'm looking forward to playing clarinet in 5th grade
They made RUclips kids for you.
Didn't ask, Don't care

You guys sleighed
I PLAY Eb AND THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY
Ayo the mythical e flat clarinet?? EXISTS!?
What?
Well done! Your Selmer sounded great!
Agree with you about the tuning, but heck, if I could play like you do (musically), I'd be more than satisfied 🏆 As to the tuning, Eb clarinets are notorious for tuning issues (especially the altissimo range), so don't feel bad.
Very nice, good job
wow so good
Capybara! :D Phenomenal job!
As an Eb clarinet player.. holy f**k.
Eb can be really difficult to contain - looks like you were doubling saxophone and Eb? I also played Eb momentarily in high school. Good work
Don't apologize for watching the band director.
For the concert I was doubling alto sax and flute for jazz, and Eb, Bb, and bass clarinet for wind ensemble. I did start out as a sax player
@@gavyntapp7689that’s impressive!! kudos to you

Need to comment. I have listened thru many h.s. performances playing "Sleigh Ride" and all are great. But I've come to not help preferring your performance. It is personally the best. So congrats snd keep on tootin'. Love it. 😉👏👏👏👍👍👍Peace. 🕊 P.S. Good luck thru High School. 🎓
jesus wow you are actually insane at the clarinet
"Play it again Sam ...." Well its that time of year again abd while we, the public don't know your affairs, I for as a "fan" of your ability to play "Sleigh Ride" am gonna play it thru thes days. I also presume that may have graduated from high school to which Congratulations and all the best in pursuing your dreams. Hopefully you still RUclips yourself else where yet for now Happy Holidays for all loved ones and you thru 2024 and beyond. Keep tootin or whatever but I am going for a sleighride. 🎄🎅🤶😇👍😉🕊
Great job!!!!
i didnt even know there were trills ????? oh my god
Great job Gavyn!
amazing, (espetacular, fantástico)
you did great! a minor tip though, your articulation is a bit heavy! this piece obviously uses lots of tonguing, so i def understand how it can get heavy. when you tongue it sounds like you are stopping the reed with a bigger portion of your tongue than you are supposed to, so it makes each note a bit shorter. use the VERY tip of your tongue to get that continuous flow and crisp articulation! it also helps for tonguing faster in the future, using the very tip of your tongue and tonguing lightly! you are only supposed to typically touch the reed for an extremely short time! (unless the piece needs stop motion tonguing, but that is typically rare) other than this great job! eb is definitely different than bb and gets a while to get used to. - a fellow college clarinetist :) good luck with your future endeavors!
Yeah articulation is definitely something I’ve always struggled with, but I’ve been getting better at it lately. Slowly learning to use less tongue, it’s just different on Eb. But thank you for your advice!
so good😄
I play b# clarinet and you sound SOOO GOOD BROO
b# clarinet 💀
@@CerealSSBU I know it’s a school clarinet
I loved playing this last year on Eb too ( you played it better)
Y’all Sleighed
WOW! Bravo. Great sound.
Bravo
I enjoyed my short time playing that Eb
My band director hates the alto but I wanna play it lmao
This is not an alto clarinet
@@q12aw50 bruh it is an Eb alto clarinet
@@q12aw50 i play many types of clarinet and they even come pitched in Ab in the case of the soprano (i think?) but i know for sure that it goes Bb clarinet Eb alto clarinet Bb bass clarinet Eb contra alto clarinet and Bb contrabass clarinet. Sorry just dont try to correct people that kinda know their stuff lol.
The bass clarinet in the starting of the recording: o_o
I was the capybara holder!!!! anyway his tone do be sleigh tho 😳😳😳
Why did you have a capybara
@@justrosie. he is like the band mascot everyone holds "capy" and we take him to concerts and performances :3
@kneat oh THAT IS SO ADORABLE I LOVE THAT OMG
I still have this sheet music from high school, such a fun song to play. we played much faster than this though lol.
THE CAPYBARA :DD
everyone needs a capybara bandmate ✨
his name is capy
i had to play the part that the clarinets play as a saxophone bc the clarinets could get it so i had a solo basically
I’m the bass clarinet I deserve Justice
1:44 the octave change wow
