No literally I’m so upset. Nobody told me i had to reinstall macOS after factory resetting. I went to Best Buy and they told me they couldn’t offer an exchange because i myself had to factory reset it but didn’t know how and the RUclips videos weren’t clear. I finally did it right and hope they’ll give me an exchange since my Mac had some white past glue on the back that I cleaned off but there’s still some in the cracks :/

So I used this video to step through an erase and re-installation of Sonoma. The process is almost the same as for Ventura, very little difference. Hello I got as far as 7:34, once I reconnected to my WiFi I received a window that reads “activation lock” “this Mac is linked to an Apple Account. Sign in to the account that was previously used with this Mac.” How do I get out of here. Thank you

'Erase all content and settings,' after erasing everything, will automatically reinstall the OS you'd had right before you erased the machine. The process in this video allows you to reinstall the default OS version that comes with the machine.

I’m pretty sure this way is for if your going to sell your computer. If you’re keeping your computer and want to start fresh then you can just go through your general settings

Can't it do auto disk format/erase when going straight to reinstall ventura without entering disk utility One more question when we are doing frest installation then why to worry about Apple I'd log out , as per my understanding ultimately it will clear up everything. Note - I'm a window's user planning to buy Mac Device that's why asking for basic knowledge in advance
You can also when in the reset log in screen go to the menu and erase mac option. That will erase ALL metadata, and literally everything. Not sure about fingerprint ID, though.

No. I contacted support about this and I was told that it has something to do with your internet connection. I If you can go to a place with a faster internet maybe you can try doing that. In my case I tried connecting to a different internet but I wasn't successful. I gave up trying so my resolution was to just bring it to the store. They restored the OS for me but I have to pay 2000 pesos. @@Poor.MansDiary
I had to do this because of fumble fingers when setting up my new Mac. My battery on my old one died during transfer. Instead of hitting reset, I hit continue. Now, I need to go through the entire process again of transferring. I would have used my Time Machine back up but for whatever reason my new Mac isn’t recognizing the back up disk.
After I finish redownloading Ventura, it tells me to choose a disk but then shows no options... so then I have to quit and start again. I'm not sure if I incorrectly deleted the disk or something
so what about the password to the wifi ....last step was to log into wifi does the password get to the wifi erase after re-installing the os? thanks awesome video

I did erase but in reinstall os step my wifi was still connected and it didn’t ask for password. Isn’t it weird? Shouldn’t it be already deleted?🤔
