- December 11, 1994 - En route to Tokyo from Manila, the pilots aboard PA 434 are jolted by an explosion. A bomb had gone off in the cabin and the damage is extensive: there’s a two-foot hole in the fuselage and cables linking the cockpit to the ailerons and wing flaps are severed.

From Season 3 Episode 6 "Bomb On Board": Far from their destination, the pilots have no option but to attempt an emergency landing. The flight crew rein in the unwieldy plane and land it safely. One of the passengers, a Japanese businessman, perished in the blast. The bomb was located directly under his seat and severed him in two. Ten other passengers were also injured. Miraculously these were the only casualties.

Can’t help but to feel sorry for that poor dude who sat in the seat of death. It wasn’t mentioned in this series other than “lower half was gone” but either first responders or investigators, found his lower half in the cargo bay.

I hate when people on TV refer to terrorist attacks as a mission. It's a cowardly attack not a mission. I can't imagine the pain that passenger was in after having half of his body blown off.

I never understand why they bomb innocent people who have nothing to do with their issues. These Flight investigators seem to be the best in the world - I mean all of them from around the world - what details they get into, minute fragments of evidence and yet they discover the truth.

For us as a Filipino, we remember of mourning for the death of passengers of PR434, Philippine Airlines remembers also of mourning death flight of the Passengers, Pilots and Crew

The fact that this was just test act of terrorism for that flight. Is terrifying if they had been a maximin blast power like what brought down and destroy and killed every one. Like what happened with bombing of flight Pam as it flew over and exploded and the Debra crashed in the middle of the town of Lockobe setting house in the village a flame . I thought the aloha air Hawia plane accident only having one fatality was a divine miracle the whole roof of the plane came off.

the aviation industry be doing the most after an accident so it's not likely that we will get many "new" episodes in 2022. The last one we had was Malaysian Airlines and no one even knows about that one yet. The other one was the plane that was shot down by the military by a surface to air missile. So maybe add a suggestion to the smithsonian suggestion box.

Worth noting that Israel has not had a terrorist bombing involving aviation. Why? Because they profile passengers. They know who they're looking for, and profilers get them before they can do harm.
As the US has failed to do this, I'm not optimistic about our chances here. So far, its been passengers, not the security theater types, who've foiled or exposed possible terrorist actions.
